On Oct. 23 Chinese swimmer Qin Haiyang got the title of Best Male Swimmer of the Year 2023. Qin won 23 gold medals in the breaststroke （蛙泳）in the big {#blank#}1{#/blank#}（竞赛；竞争）he took part in in 2023. At the world Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka in Japan，he broke five {#blank#}2{#/blank#}（亚洲的）records and became the first swimmer in history to win all three breaststroke golds at a single edition of the event. 

Breaststroke is not easy, it's harder to swim fast because all the strokes {#blank#}3{#/blank#}（发生）under the water. This makes the water push back on the swimmer more and it takes a lot of {#blank#}4{#/blank#}（技能）to swim well. Qin said to Jimu News. "Some people say I'm fast because I save {#blank#}5{#/blank#}（力量，精力）by using fewer strokes. While others might take one and a half strokes, I only need one to swim as far as they do. "

Several years ago, I spent most of my time at a mental hospital (精神病院) in our town. I found much joy there. At first it was a little scary to be there, but I stayed on, because I had a reason for doing this.

I volunteered in a locked-up (封闭的) environment. To my surprise, I found that a friend of my parents' was a patient in this hospital. I knew, when I was a baby, this woman wanted to keep me because she had no children. I looked after this woman and showed my old photos to her. Finally, she was able to remember some old things, and she said to me one day, "Dear, you should not come here. But I wanted to bring something happy into this woman's life. I learned that because she had no family, she couldn't leave here and go home. So I brought her to my home twice and I still remembered the happy smile on her face.

I have never forgotten this volunteering experience. This woman later passed away. I can't see her anymore, but I'm happy that I have done something to make a difference in another person's life.

One day, Jack and Sharon were going for a walk in the snow. 

"Oh Jack,1 that wonderful view ( 景 色 ) of our garden! We're so lucky to live somewhere so beautiful!" said Sharon. 

"Yes, I think so, but it could be even better …"answered Jack. "What do you mean?" asked Sharon. 

"Well, look at those little2 . I'm not so sure they like the3 when it's covered in snow. The poor little things can't find anything to4 . We're enjoying the view, but the birds are so cold and hungry!"said Jack. 

"You're right, Jack. We should do something to5 those hungry birds," said Sharon. Jack thought for a while and said,"Why don't we make some delicious bird food and put it outside so the birds can6 it?"

Then both of them got busy in the kitchen7 food for the birds. The food was good enough to keep the birds going when the garden was covered in snow. Sure enough, the birds came flying to Jack and Sharon's home-made8 . They hung( 悬 挂 )from the trees in Jack's garden. And all winter long, the birds all lived9 . So Jack and Sharon were10 again!

No one was sitting on the park bench. I went over and sat down, sighing. I felt my life was hopeless because my whole world was 1 . Just then, a young boy walked up to me, out of breath. He stood right before me and said with great 2 , "Look what I found! "He had a flower in his hand. 3 the petals were all dry. I told 4 to go away politely, and faked (假装) a small smile. But he shook his 5 . He sat down next to me and put the flower to his 6 . He said, "It smells pretty and it's beautiful, too. That's why I 7 it. It's for you. "The flower before me was dying. I knew I must 8 it, or he might never leave. So I reached for the flower, and replied, "Just what I need." Just then, for the 9 time I noticed that boy could see 10 . He was blind. 

Tears came down my face as I 11 him for picking the best one. "You're welcome," he smiled, and then 12 . I sat there and wondered how he was able to know I was 13 . Through the eyes of a blind boy, I found it was me who can't see the beautiful world, 14 I was blind in my heart. Then I decided to see the beauty in life, and 15 every second of my life.

Have you ever heard of Zhang Guimei? She is not only an excellent teacher, but also a great woman in {#blank#}1{#/blank#} heart. Because of her efforts, a lot of girls in the mountains have got a good education and achieved a better {#blank#}2{#/blank#}.

Zhang Guimei was born in 1957 in Heilongjiang. She went to Yunnan to {#blank#}3{#/blank#} build the less developed area in China in 1975. Eight {#blank#}4{#/blank#} later, Zhang became a teacher. She found that some girls there couldn't get a good education because of their {#blank#}5{#/blank#} families and wrong ideas. She was so {#blank#}6{#/blank#} about them that she wanted to try her best to change their ideas. Unfortunately, Zhang was {#blank#}7{#/blank#} ill in1997. However, she never gave up and then set up Huaping High School for Girls in 2008. Thanks to Ms. Zhang's help, thousands of girl students have been brave enough to {#blank#}8{#/blank#} out of the mountain s in the past14 years.

As we know, Zhang Guimei has devoted her {#blank#}9{#/blank#} life to her educational work. Also, her experiences have {#blank#}10{#/blank#} many people and made them pay more attention to education for the girls in poor areas. What a great woman she is! She is the very person that I admire most.

If you want to change your mood(心情) into a happy one, there are some suggestions(建议) on how you can get into a happy mood.

Watch a funny show or movie. This is a great way to divert(转移) your attention away from whatever is making you feel sad. A funny show or movie will also get you to laugh. Laughing will make you feel happier.

Do something you like to get you into a happy mood. For example, what gets me into a happy mood is getting a massage(按摩), going out to a new restaurant, hiking with some friends, making life goals and planning my next trip.

Listen to some happy music. Research has shown that music can help form our happy mood.  Listen to different types of music. Find out which music can get you into the happy mood.

Make a difference in someone's life. Help a stranger in need or simply ask your neighbors what you can do to help them. Doing something for someone else will not only make them feel happy but also make you happy.

Take care of your body. Sometimes if we don't eat, sleep or take care of our body, feelings of sadness will take over. So get 6-8 hours of rest. Eat three meals a day with snacks between them. Every day do some simple exercise. When you feel your best, getting into a happy mood will become easier.
