Social media provides a platform for students {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (learn) and communicate. It makes students' life more convenient {#blank#}4{#/blank#} colorful. Social learning has been involved in almost all the e-learning websites. Students can also take advantage of live video that is a part {#blank#}5{#/blank#} so many social networking sites (社交网站) to take classes.

Social media also offers students {#blank#}6{#/blank#} tool to express themselves.

Many students are scared of the thought of what {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (happen) if they express themselves. And social media {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (help)  them to share their thoughts without any fear, making it more likely for them to come out of the box and explore their talents. When students {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (active) take part in social media, they may come to a global level. For instance, they can even learn about the different courses presented by universities from all around the world, which is beneficial for {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (they) to improve their knowledge of foreign cultures.

It's time to enjoy the special warm porridge of winter. In China, the 12th 1 of the lunar calendar (农历) is called La Yue. Chinese people celebrate Lab a Festival on the eighth day of the month. After this festival people begin to 2 the Spring Festival.

On Laba Festival, people eat 3 Laba porridge to make themselves warm. To make the porridge nice, people would like to 4 it with eight different things. It 5 has rice, red beans (红豆), dried lotus seeds (千莲子), some nuts and different kinds of dried fruits. And of course, 6 things you like in the porridge is also good.

At midnight, people start to cook it, but they will eat it 7 the next morning. It usually takes a lot of time to make it 8 delicious.

The 9 is also called Eight Treasure Porridge. Most people like eating it, because the porridge is not only good for 10 , but also a blessing (祝福) for the coming of the Spring Festival.

To-wit-to-woo, to-wit-to-woo! What's that strange sound coming from the forest at night? It's an owl, of course! The owl is different from all other birds in so many ways. 

The owl's hearing and eyesight are better than most animal. All day long, the owl rests on the tree and sleep It hunts (捕猎) only at night. When evening comes, the animals all get to a safe place. The owl opens its big, round eyes to look around. Any little animals around had better be careful, The owl eats small animals like mice as food, but it wouldn't say no to another bird, if it's really hungry. 

The owl uses its great hearing to find its food, and then it turns its head from side to side. using its sharp (敏锐的) eyes to fly after the animal. Finally, it flies down to get the animal. Owls have special, soft feathers (羽毛), so they can fly without making any sound. Owls are good hunters and they can even catch a fly in the air!

The owl is usually quiet, except (除余了) when you get too close to its home. The mother owl is a great mother. She will protect her babies by opening her feathers angrily. She will even hurt people if she thinks her babies are in danger!

The owl has no teeth, so it eats an animal whole. All the parts of the animal that the owl can't digest (消化) will end up as small pieces. If you find these small pieces, you know you are near an owl's home.

Clubs Making a Difference for the Earth

Joining a club to help protect the environment can be both fun and impactful. Here's an interview with two students, Alex and Mia, who have started clubs at their schools to help the planet.

◆What is the goal of your club?

Alex: My club, the" Clean Air Group", focuses on reducing air pollution. We encourage students to ride bikes and use public transport to cut down air pollution.

Mia: {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Our goal is to create community gardens in different parts of our school and neighborhood to provide fresh vegetables, which are good for both people and wildlife.

◆How did you come up with the idea for your club?

Alex: {#blank#}2{#/blank#} And I realized how much pollution they were producing. I wanted to do something to help reduce it, and that's when I thought of cleaner ways of getting to school.

Mia: I've always enjoyed gardening with my family, and when I learned about how important plants are for the environment, I thought," Why not start a club that lets others experience that too?"

Alex: We organize" No Car Days" where students leave their cars at home and walk, bike, or take the bus. We also invite guest speakers to talk about air pollution and its impact on our planet.

Mia: We plant and take good care of school gardens. We give away some of the produces from our gardens to local food banks.

◆What impact has your club had so far?

Alex: A lot of students now use bikes or carpool more often. It's great to see people being more mindful of how they travel.

Mia: Our gardens are growing all the time. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} It's brought people together and made the school a greener, more welcoming place.

Philip Qiu is the founder of the Museum of Chinese in America. This museum {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(build)in 1980 for the purpose of promoting Chinese culture. "We organize many kinds of cultural activities and exhibitions {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (show) fantastic Chinese culture to visitors." he said.

Over the past five years, the museum {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (tell) and recorded the stories and experiences of Chinese the United States and has spread traditional Chinese culture. Meanwhile, it has promoted the exchanges of history and culture between the two {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (country). Besides, the museum has held 15 high-quality exhibitions with different themes such as history, painting and religion, receiving more than 100,000 visitors from different places in the world.

There is {#blank#}5{#/blank#}exhibition about Pursuing Harmony Between Human and Nature at the museum recently.  {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (it) exhibits(展品) include calligraphy, musical instruments and portraits.

"I {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (true)believe that human civilization is like a big family, and the culture of every nation in the world should be respected. Cultural exchange {#blank#}8{#/blank#}this will help strengthen communication between China and the United States and make their relations much {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (good)." Qiu said. 

In the future,{#blank#}10{#/blank#} if the museum has more chances, it will hold different themes of online and offline activities to help spread Chinese culture and tell the wonderful stories of Chinese people in the United States.
