Being disabled doesn't stop Guilhem Gallart, a French musician, from making music. For many years, he was a successful record producer and recording artist. He was known as "Pone" and helped spread hip hop in France in the 1990s and early 2000s, creating many popular songs with his music group Fonky Family.

In 2015, Pone was told to have ALS. ALS is an illness that can influence the ability to move, speak, eat and even breathe. There's no medicine that works for ALs at present. Because of it, Pone has to depend on a machine to breathe, and can't move any of his body parts except his eyes.

But technology has given Gallart new possibilities. With the help of the certain software (软件), his eye movements are tracked (跟踪), and as a result, he is able to write.

"I have once again discovered Pone that I knew before," said his wife Wahiba. "And even stronger than he was before."

The effort has resulted in a album (专辑), Listen and Donate, which came out in June, 2021. With this album, Pone hoped to raise money for the organization called Trakadom. The charity (慈善机构) was set up by him with two doctors. Its goal is to train more care takers and help patients to receive care at home. "Talking about this with my doctors, nurses and care takers, I found that they weren't trained well enough, and that many of them wanted the chance. So Trakadom was born," he said.

"If there's a message in my story, it's that anything is possible," said Pone.

Most of us find that smartphones have made our lives better. Almost all of us{#blank#}1{#/blank#} our smartphones within arm's reach during waking hours, and most of us do so when we sleep. What will happen {#blank#}2{#/blank#} we live without the smartphones?

In 2022, My family moved into a small village house. There was no Wi- Fi. It was my first time to taste the joy of a life. We learned to make {#blank#}3{#/blank#} use of time. We also realized that days lacking of digital product(数码产品) made time slow down and{#blank#}4{#/blank#} the quality(质量) of our time together. We could find a quiet place to sleep, cook simple {#blank#}5{#/blank#} to eat and enjoy the countryside views. The smartphone is just a tool. Without it, the {#blank#}6{#/blank#} seemed to more relaxing.

Every year, Australia hosts a 543. 7-mile-long ultra-marathon(超级马拉松) race. 

In 1983, a potato farmer named Cliff Young showed up at the start of the race. People {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(意识到) that he was 61 years old and the race was dangerous for him. Cliff Young might {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(死) of tiredness, so some people tried to stop him. 

However, Cliff Young surprised everyone with an amazing {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(胜利). He not only won the race, but {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(设法完成) to break the race record. 

So how did Cliff Young make it? Well, he {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(继续) running throughout the night while other runners were {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(休息). He really had a very strong {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(意志). 

When Cliff Young was awarded the winning prize of $10, 000, he said he {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(实在；的确) didn't know there was a prize. He gave away his prize money to the rest of the runners after him. 

After the win, Cliff Young {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(参加) many ultra- marathon races to raise money for homeless children. His running style which is still popular {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(在国外) is called " The Cliff Shuffle". 

A student always asked himself, "How many friends should a person have-one or many?" One day, he decided to ask his teacher for  1  .

"It is very simple," the teacher answered. "Get me that red apple from the highest branch(树枝) of the tree." The student  2  and said, "It's too high! I can't reach it.""Ask a friend. Maybe he can help." the teacher suggested. The student called another student and stood on his shoulders(肩膀) to reach the branch. "I still can't reach it, sir," said the student  3  after the first day.

"Don't you have more  4  ?"the teacher smiled. The student asked more of them to come over. They stood on each other's shoulders, trying to make a 5  pyramid(金字塔), but the apple was so  6 that they couldn't reach it and the pyramid fell. The student still couldn't reach the apple. Then one of the friends went home, and brought a ladder(梯子). Finally, they were so  7  to pick the apple.

After getting the apple, the teacher asked, "So, do you  8  how many friends a person needs?""I do, "the student said. "Many, so together we can solve any  9  .""Sounds good," the teacher said. "Friends can give each other  10  . You need as many friends as you can. Among them, there will be at least one person who can think of a good idea, like getting a ladder."

A few years ago, I went to Italy as an exchange student. Before leaving, I asked my mother what gifts I should take to the teachers and the classmates there. Mom said that the Chinese fan was a good choice, for China is praised as"the Fan Kingdom". I agreed completely, because it is more than a tool for cooling. And it's also an important part of Chinese culture. 

I went shopping and bought three kinds of Chinese fans. The first kind was the feather(羽毛) fan for the teachers, which was made of bird feathers. It was the symbol of Zhuge Liang, a very smart man in ancient China. The fans I bought for the girls were silk fans. They were also called"round silk fans". Fans of this kind were made of silk with paintings of beautiful women, birds or flowers. They were very popular with women of all ages. As for the boys, I picked the folding fans from Rongchang, a place in the west of Chongqing. The folding fans were made of paper and bamboo. There were great paintings and calligraphy(书法) on them. 

 At the welcome party in Italy, my new friends were all ____ to get the wonderful fans. And they were amazed at the stories and culture behind them. They were eager(渴望) to visit China and explore Chinese culture.
