There is an old saying: Like father like son. Here is a story about it. 

Once there was a father and a son. They were ill-tempered (坏脾气) and never gave a way to others. One day his father decided to {#blank#}1{#/blank#}some friends to dinner. He asked his son to buy some meat in town. When the son got what his father wanted, he turned back {#blank#}2{#/blank#} walked towards the town gate. Just then, a man was coming from outside. The gate wasn't {#blank#}3{#/blank#} enough to let two men in and out at the {#blank#}4{#/blank#} time. But {#blank#}5{#/blank#} of them would not give way to the other. They stood face {#blank#}6{#/blank#} face inside the gate hour after hour. Waited for a long time, his father was worried, "What shall I do? My son hasn't returned yet. I can't wait any {#blank#}7{#/blank#}. " He wanted to know what was the matter with his son. So he {#blank#}8{#/blank#} his friends at home and went to town to look for his son. 

"You may take the {#blank#}9{#/blank#} home for my friends. Let me stand here against instead him, " he said to his son when he knew what {#blank#}10{#/blank#}. What do you think of the father? If everyone teaches their children in this way, there will be no peace in the world. 

I was lonely when I was in high school because I went to a new school far away from my home. In the beginning, some naughty students often laughed at me because of my poor English, so I always tried to avoid them.

Soon I went to university. I was a poor student and I only had $20 for two weeks. I had to hide the truth carefully because I was afraid to be laughed at again. I ate little every day. One day, Joe, a classmate of mine, invited me to help him cook and then shared the completed dishes with him. Since I was not familiar（熟悉）with him, I refused him at first. But after some consideration, I decided to go. I used to cook at home, and I thought I could do it, but I was still full of worry. If he didn't like my cooking, what should I do? Later, it turned out to be a success. Then Joe wished me to make it a daily routine. It went like this. He did the shopping and I did the cooking. And then I stayed to have dinner with him.

It was not until graduation that I knew the whole story. Joe discovered my situation two years ago. In order not to hurt my pride, he came up with this idea just to make it much easier for me. When I cooked the last meal for him, I ordered a big cake and said to him with tears, "My dear friend, you and your help really brighten my college life. I'll never forget that."

In a village near a desert lived a young and successful businessman named James. He often felt {#blank#}1{#/blank#} because of the endless challenges he faced.

One day, a wise old man came to the village with 100 camels(骆驼). James went to see him and said,"I always have business worries, family troubles and health problems. Please tell me how to make them {#blank#}2{#/blank#}."

The old man smiled and said,"I' ll give you an {#blank#}3{#/blank#} tomorrow morning. But first, can you do a small thing for me?" James agreed. The old man asked him to take care of the 100 camels for the night, making sure that they all {#blank#}4{#/blank#} and rested before he could go to sleep.

The next morning, the old man asked James how his night went. James said sadly,"I didn't sleep at all. No matter how {#blank#}5{#/blank#} I tried, I couldn't get all the camels to sit together. Even if I managed to get some camels to sit on one side, a few others would stand on the other side."" That's true. Some camels sat down on their own, {#blank#}6{#/blank#} others required some effort, and yet many camels did not sit even after quite a lot of effort," the old man said.

James nodded.

The old man continued," Your problems are just {#blank#}7{#/blank#} the camels. There are always some problems that cannot get solved even if you' ve tried your best. Leave such problems to time until one day they themselves come to an end."

James felt a sense of understanding. It completely changed the way he saw life's challenges.

How did Churchill achieve so much? One key to his success was his strictly observed daily schedule.

Churchill is not a particularly early riser, he is a night owl. Around 8 o'clock, he takes off his sleeping mask to the smell of breakfast. On his bed places a tray（托盘）to his own design, with a cutout for his round belly that allows him to have breakfast and work at the same time.

Churchill usually begins the mornings with a full English breakfast, often accompanied by meat from the previous night, and sometimes a glass of wine. As he picks through his tray of food, he    peruses the morning newspapers. Sometimes he rises, walking to his beloved Clementine in her separate bedroom, to discuss a startling development. From his battle station he dictates（口述）letters, sips from a glass filled with water and some whisky, and reads until late morning. Then he bathes, dresses and begins his day. Lunch is followed by a walk round the gardens and ponds, cards with family and friends then followed by a nap. His nap is exactly an hour long. It allows him, he says, to get more hours out of every twenty-four.

Churchill's daily schedule reveals important principles for success: he knows how to get things done. He is one of the most productive men who ever lived. To achieve productively, he always follows two principles. The first he learnt from Napoleon: strength of force in the most important places. The second is economy of effort（节约能量）.

Economy of effort is one of Churchill's excellent characteristics（特征）. His daily work in bed saves energy for later, when he will often dictate from a stand-up desk. When travelling he is even more economical. Never stand when you can sit down, he will advise a visitor. "Never sit down when you can lie down, and never to miss an opportunity to visit a washroom, as there is no knowing when the next chance will appear."

My school is near my grandpa's house, so I live with my grandpa most of the time. Last Friday my grandpa left me 1 in the house. I didn't like staying at home alone and I was a little 2 and afraid. I decided to sleep on the 3 in the front room. I was really tired, so I 4 the light and went to bed at about 9 pm. There was a loud noise at around 10 pm and I 5 up. I got up at once and 6 a tall dark figure(人影) standing beside my bed. I couldn't tell if it was a man or a woman because I couldn't see its 7 . I sat there looking at it 8 I heard a loud noise downstairs(在楼下) again. I turned around towards the stairs but there wasn't 9 and when I turned back to face the figure, it was gone. I jumped out of bed and turned the light on. I put my clothes on, ran out of the house and got a taxi 10 my parents' house. I told my grandpa what happened today and also told him I'd be 11 out from today. 

12 it was in that house, it didn't like me. My grandpa had lived there for 24 years and nothing like this had ever happened. I couldn't  13 it and I didn't want to experience anything like that ever again. 

On the way to my parents' house, my father called. He said it was 14 him just now and he just wanted to give me a" surprise" and took me home to spend the weekend together. My father loves surprise and 15 , but sometimes I really don't like them!
