Tomorrow is May Day. Whatare the students going to do? Here are some students' plans.

Daming wants to visithis grandparents in a small town. He misses them very much. This time he's goingto stay there for two days. He can help his grandparents do some farm work onthe farm.

John is a boy fromAmerica. He wants to visit Beijing. He's going to the Great Wall and the ForbiddenCity. He's going there by bus. He's going to take a lot of photos and then hewants to take them back to America, because he wants his friends to know aboutChina.

Betty is unlucky, becauseher mother is ill(生病的). She is going tostay at home and look after her mother. But she is going to do her homework andwatch TV, too.

Last June, when my mother told me she had planned a four-day visit to Dubai with me, I was very excited. Tourists from all over the world come to see the sights in this amazing city and experience its culture.

On our first day, we visited the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. It is 828 metres high and it holds several records. After that we visited the Arabian Desert. The next day, we visited the Palm Jumeirah, the world's largest man-made island. The island is made from all natural materials (材料) because the Prince of Dubai wanted to give it a more natural look. The island itself looks like a palm tree from above, with one main strip(条) of land and 16 strips, 8 on each side. They all come from the middle, and make the island appear like a palm tree.

Dubai is home to the world's largest shopping centre. So on the third day, after a short boat ride away from our hotel, my mother and I spent the whole day shopping there. We returned home in the afternoon the next day. It was a fantastic trip.

Zhong Congrong learns a lot on his trip to Hainan. He is a(n) {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (success) businessman (商人) from Chongqing. Four years ago, Zhong {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (meet) a university teacher on the beach in Hainan. The teacher told Zhong she was used to {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (pick) up rubbish every day. Her words went round and round in Zhong's mind. He made a(n) {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (decide) to follow her.

As soon as Zhong got back from Hainan, he began cleaning up the streets near his neighborhood {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (he). Every morning, he wore an orange T-shirt with some words about protecting (保护) the environment, picked up rubbish and asked others not to throw rubbish on the street. {#blank#}6{#/blank#} would a rich man volunteer to pick up rubbish every day? People thought he just meant {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (get) more attention (注意). But as time went by, people changed their minds. They noticed their neighborhood getting cleaner thanks {#blank#}8{#/blank#} Zhong. More and more people joined his team to help make Chongqing {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (beauty). Zhong's work also shows that everyone can make {#blank#}10{#/blank#} difference.

 How do astronauts stop bone and muscle (肌肉) lose? Do water fly away when astronauts have a drink? On Dec 9, Chinese astronauts Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping and Ye Guangfu gave a lesson on Tiangong Space Station. They did some science experiments (实验). Lots of students watched it and learned many amazing science facts. 

Use it or lose it

The human body grows with the pull of Earth's gravity (重力). But in space, our bones and muscles don't need to support our body's weight. This will make bone and muscle lose. It is dangerous for them. 

Astronauts have different ways to solve the problem. For example, Ye Guangfu was wearing a special uniform. There are many elastic bands (弹力带) inside it. Astronauts use their muscles to stretch (拉伸) the bands. This keeps their muscles strong. 

Wang Yaping also showed students how she walked on a treadmill (跑步机) and rode a bicycle. Astronauts exercise with these tools every day to stop muscle loss.

During another experiment, Wang made a water film (膜). Then she added more water drops onto the film to make it a water ball. This can never happen on the earth. Why?

We need to first understand the surface tension (表面张力) of water. Surface tension is like a"skin" （皮肤） of water. The "skin" is there because water molecules (分子) are drawn to each other. On the earth, gravity is too strong and it breaks the "skin". But with zero gravity in space, the "skin" stays strong and the water ball won't break. 

Space water is different in many other ways from that on the earth. For example, water won't fall down if you pour it into a cup. That's why astronauts usually drink water through straws (吸管). If astronauts cry, the tears won't fall down. They'll stay on their eyeballs. 

This summer my family went on a trip to Stockholm. 

Before the trip, we booked a hotel room in a city centre. When we arrived in Stockholm, we {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (take) a bus to the hotel. Then we went out for dinner. We saw trees and flowers everywhere on the way to the restaurant. We felt like we were in a big forest. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}a lovely city!

The next day we visited the Vasa Museum. It's home to {#blank#}3{#/blank#}old ship—the Vasa. Nobody was {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (excited) than my son, because {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(visit) museums is his favourite. There were many visitors in front of the museum. We waited {#blank#}6{#/blank#} a long time and felt a little tired. But{#blank#}7{#/blank#} we went into the museum, we were all surprised. The ship looked very cool and beautiful. 

The third day we went to a park in Stockholm. People did different {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(activity) in the park. My son played with some children there. I talked with their parents. My husband watched a chess game. I thought it was the best way {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (feel) Stockholm!

It was a really {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (enjoy) trip. We all had a good time. 

 What is Competitive Eating? It's a game where people try to eat a lot of food very quickly. There are different types of food, like pizza and ice cream.

 The Big Hot Dog Contest Every year, on July 4th, there's a big contest in New York where people eat hot dogs. It started because some people wanted to show they loved America by eating lots of hot dogs. The first winner ate 13 hot dogs in 12 minutes. The Best Eaters Joey Chestnut can eat 40 hot dogs in 10 minutes. He's the best right now. Before him, Takeru Kobayashi was the best. He's not very big, but he can eat a lot of different foods very fast.

 Is It Good or Bad? Some people think it's not good because it's not healthy and some people don't have enough food. But the people who do it think it's just a sport, like running or swimming. They see themselves as sports players.
