Alice Lee is a high school student studying at a private school. She is doing some voluntary work at an after-school program to help students from poor families.

    On the first day of her work, she noticed that many kids were lining up for free sandwiches and fruits. She was surprised. One of the organizers explains that many of these students don't get enough to eat at home. So a school lunch or an after-meal might be the most food they would get all the day. She has also been told that some hungry kids can receive free lunches, but others are only allowed reduced-price meals, and those students' families have to pay for the part of their food.

    Lee was shocked, she decided to offer help to those who are suffering from hunger, "I want other kids to understand that if you see a problem, you don't have to wait to be an adult to fix it," says Lee. She and a group of friends are using their programme skill to create a new app called Food of Thought, which will allow parents, students, and even kind-hearted strangers to donate money to lunch accounts for students in a nearby school.

Qu Juanru is the official inheritor(官方继承人) of Jiaxing City Tongxiang flower­drum opera. She began to be on the stage when she was a teenager. "My mother died when I was 14. I've lived with my father since then. In the old days, women were not allowed to perform opera. However, my father always supported me when I tried to sing," Qu said.

Qu started performing in the local troupe(剧团) called Aimin Flower­Drum Opera. Later, the troupe was disbanded(解散), and she went back to farming.

After that, the young girl tried to set up the troupe several times but failed. She really lived a hard life at that time. But she didn't give up.

In 2001, some developers planned to rebuild Wuzhen. They thought a place which has no culture is of little significance(意义). So they wanted to bring back local customs, including the Tongxiang flower­drum opera. Qu was their only hope.

Knowing she could sing again, Qu was so excited. Whether it's cold or hot, Qu always gives her everything on stage in Wuzhen. She has six rounds(场) of performing every day and each round lasts 30 minutes. In 2017, she was badly ill, yet it didn't stop her.

"I can still sing and perform. I'd love to be here," Qu said. In her opinion, opera life is a wonderful dream that can't be missed.

I like taking {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (photo) very much. Once I traveled by ship {#blank#}2{#/blank#} a cloudy morning. In the afternoon, the weather turned fine, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} I wanted to take some photos. I was looking around and I saw next to me a lovely little girl {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (sit) on her father's shoulders. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} was lucky for me to meet such a perfect moment—the girl {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (smile) and the surrounding view was beautiful. Without thinking, I took a picture of the little girl at that moment.

Her mother was surprised that a {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (strange) was photographing her daughter. I explained that I {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (move) by that sight and showed them {#blank#}9{#/blank#} photo on my digital camera. They loved it very much. I said I could email it to them when I got home. Finally, they gave me their email address. The next day, I sent them their {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (daughter) photo as I had promised.

This morning I received a message back saying they are grateful and that they are very happy with the lovely photo of their daughter and a lovely memory of the day.

Ronny looked like every other kid in the classroom where I volunteered as the Reading Mom. However, he had a speech problem so he couldn't 1 like other kids in his grade.

I worked with all the students in Ronny's class one by one to improve their reading skills. On the days when it was Ronny's 2 , I'd give him a silent smile. That's why he sat very close to me and opened the book as if he was opening a treasure that 3 had ever seen.

I watched his fingers move 4 under each letter as he read out difficultly.

Every time he managed (完成) to read a word with a 5 pronunciation (发音), the biggest smile would spread across his face and his 6 would shine with pride.

A few weeks before the school year ended, I 7 Ronny a book—one of those Little Golden Books. A few days later, I returned to the school to visit. I 8 Ronny on a chair with the book. His head teacher said, "He hasn't 9 that book since you gave it to him." Deeply moved, I walked 10 Ronny, placed my hand on his shoulder and asked, "Will you read me your book, Ronny?" For the next few minutes, he read to me more 11 than I'd ever thought. The 12 were already dog-eared (卷角的), like the book had been read many times already. When he finished reading, Ronny closed his book and said with great 13 , "What a good book!"

At that moment, as a writer, I knew I would get 14 about my own writing and do what that writer had done, and probably still does—care enough to write a story that 15 a child's life, care enough to make a difference.

The Norwegian novelist，poet and playwright Jon Fosse was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Oct. 5，2023. 

Born in 1959 in Haugesund，Fosse grew up on a small farm in western Norway. He started writing poems and stories at the age of 12. But {#blank#}2{#/blank#} was his plays that made him famous. 

Unlike many traditional {#blank#}3{#/blank#} that focus on plots，characters and conflicts，Fosse's works show "tension of emotions". For example，in his first play Someone Is Going to Come，there is a man {#blank#}4{#/blank#} a woman seeking solitude(独处) in a remote seaside home. 

When he was asked what he wants to give to readers through his writing，Fosse said he hopes to show a feeling of peace. "I hope they can find a kind of {#blank#}5{#/blank#} from my writing，" he said. Fosse's unique style has helped him win many prizes. 

Look! Gam Bok-Yin is practicing Hung Gar, a kind of Chinese kung fu, with his student.1 he is 77, he is in good health. Gam is from Australia. He started to 2 Hung Gar over 70 years ago. Now he can do it very well, but he is still3 . He always tells his students. "Hard work is the key to success. "

The story started in the 1940s in Sydney, Australia. There was 4 wrong (有毛病的) with Gam's legs. He had to move around in a wheelchair (轮椅). When Gam was 5, a 5 Chinese man next door said he would like to help Gam. Gam's parents thanked the man for his kindness and decided to have a 6 . The man showed some simple leg movements and exercises. Then he told Gam's father to help Gam practice them slowly.7 just a few days later, Gam sensed (感知到) feeling in his legs. He 8 the exercise. Gam kept practicing, and he could 9 at the age of 12. 

Gam never 10 practicing, and in 1996, he started teaching others Hung Gar in Hong Kong.
