Healthy lifestyle

As we all know, a healthy lifestyle is good for our bodies.

Every Thursday afternoon, the food pantry（食品储藏室） at the local high school opens up to provide fresh food bags for families who can hardly make both ends meet to get their meals to last through the weekend. Nearly a hundred families rely on the extra food. Some are between jobs, some got hit hard with medical bills for a few months, and some are new to the neighborhood, placed there by refugee services.

On one breezy afternoon, two young mothers walked in together, each accompanied by a young child. There was nothing different about their dress, but their manner revealed a shyness that they struggled to overcome. When they spoke, it was clear why: Their accents were thick, even though they were trying hard to make their English sound American. They were uncertain of being understood. But the pantry is run by grandmothers who are never pressed for time when it comes to conversations. So they sat for a moment and told their story while the little ones were held in arms so very familiar with children.

The two lived in apartments in the basement of the Methodist Church. They had been in the United States for one month. Their husbands were well-educated but working labor jobs to pay for food and save for more typical apartments.

Both had fled the war in Eastern Europe, one family from Ukraine and one from Russia. They ended up in the same church basement and discovered that they needed each other. They became fast friends. Their children played together. They shared meals and navigated their new world together.

There were no bombs or soldiers or rations in their new neighborhood, only a chance to start over. Friendships are sometimes hard to come by, yet matter so much to each of us. A good friend gives us strength, love, laughter and the courage to keep trying.

These two families—worn down by uncertainty and war, thrown together in a new country, a new community with a new language —found so much in common. And isn't that what we all need? A friend who faces the same life challenges, even if the forces above them have different political views. We are, after all, just mothers and fathers, friends and neighbors.

There are a lot of problems in {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(teenager) life. However, they are just a part of growing up to be an adult. If they are dealt with well, they won't become real problems.

Some parents don't understand their teenage children very well. They don't care about their wishes {#blank#}2{#/blank#}different moods（心情）at this special time of life. They don't understand that it is quite hard for teenagers to {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(become) adults. That is also the reason {#blank#}4{#/blank#} teenagers sometimes don't know {#blank#}5{#/blank#} to do and get angry easily.

I think I'm a good example of that kind of teenagers. I once had an experience like that. When I just started middle school, I caused a lot of problems for my teachers. I didn't obey the class rules and kept talking to my classmates in class. So the head teacher called my parents. {#blank#}6{#/blank#} they learned what had happened, my parents took me home. {#blank#}7{#/blank#} my surprise, they weren't angry with me. They talked with me about the problems and tried to find out the reason for the problems so that they could solve them. With {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(they) help, the problems were solved in the end. And I was really thankful for what they did for me. I made a{#blank#}9{#/blank#} (decide) that I would change myself from then on.

When there's a problem in a teenage child's life, the parents should find a good opportunity to have a talk with the child first. Then they should try to solve the problem together. This is good for both the parents and the child. {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(understand) comes first, then everything goes well.

My good friend Mary is my cousin. She is three years{#blank#}1{#/blank#}than me.I am fourteen years old and she is eleven now. She is very friendly and{#blank#}2{#/blank#},so she has many friends.She is {#blank#}3{#/blank#}in music and    wants to be a singer when she grows up.

When she was six years old, she started to learn singing.She wants to be a great singer,{#blank#}4{#/blank#}she says it's difficult.She practices singing every day.She{#blank#}5{#/blank#}sings in shows and I love listening to her singing. We talk about everything together and we always{#blank#}6{#/blank#}some—thing interesting with each other. My favorite saying is "A true friend reaches for your hand and {#blank#}7{#/blank#}your heart."Mary is a friend like this.

Mary is very busy{#blank#}8{#/blank#}she also studies photography（摄影）in her free time．She takes lots of{#blank#}9{#/blank#}.They are all very wonderful. Last year, she{#blank#}10{#/blank#}the first prize in the photo competition.

I am lucky that I have so good a friend.

Wu Mo and her parents live in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province. It is a beautiful city with a population of more than 9. 6 million. With a long history of about 7, 000 years, Ningbo is not only a famous historical and cultural (文化的) city in China, but also a great place for tourists. 

Wu Mo is good at her school subjects and she really loves reading. There are a variety of books in her large room. This weekend her uncle and her cousin Wu Gang will come to their home by car. They live in a town not far away from Ningbo. Wu Gang also loves reading. He hopes Wu Mo can take him to Tianyige Museum because he knows that there are many valuable ancient books in it. Wu Mo feels happy because they both have the same interest. 

Tianyige Museum is in Ningbo. It's famous for its collection of about 300, 000 ancient books. People see the museum as the biggest library in South China. In fact, it is one of the three oldest private (私人的) libraries in the world. And it has a history of more than 450 years. 

The opening hours of the museum are different. From May 1st to October 31st, it is open from8:30 am to 5:30 pm. From November 1st to April30th, its opening time is from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Well, the museum isn't open every Monday morning. 

Wu Mo is looking forward to their visit. They believe the museum will open up a new world for them. 

There is some good news for the students at Yangguang Middle School. Our school  {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(ask) students about their hobbies last week. And based on these results(基于这些结果), we have set up four interest groups. 

The first one is a collecting group. Most of the students like collecting things. For example, some students are interested in collecting {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(fan). Some students enjoy collecting money from different countries, like US {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(dollar). In this group, students can collect different things they like, and they can hold some activities to show their collections. 

Sports group is {#blank#}4{#/blank#} second. Many students like doing sports. That's {#blank#}5{#/blank#} it can help them stay fit. Students can play many ball games in this group. And they can also learn how{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(swim) and take part in some sports competitions. 

The cooking group is also interesting. Some students enjoy cooking, and they think cooking {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(bring) them joy. Some students want to make some dishes {#blank#}8{#/blank#} presents for their family. In this group, students can learn to cook different kinds of dishes, including(包括) cookies, noodles and soups. 

The last one is the reading group. Some students like reading books. They think reading gives them many {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(value) things and makes them improve a lot. Students can read any book{#blank#}10{#/blank#} their student cards in this group. 

These are four interest groups. We also plan to set up more groups in the future.
