Every summer, drowning(溺水) accidents happen among students from time to time. The best way to {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (避免) drowning is to learn to swim. Swimming is both a {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(有用的) life skill and a great sport. Like any physical activity, swimming carries risks. So it's important to make sure your {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(安全). Here are some things you should know.

Don't swim {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (单独). You may fall, get hit or have other unexpected accidents. So always have someone with you. They can help you or call for help for you if {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(任何事) happens.

Swim only when you feel {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (舒适的). For example, don't swim if you have an open wound. If you develop pain while swimming, stop and rest.

Follow the pool rules and signs. They are there to {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(保护) you. So look for and read the pool safety information {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(仔细地) before getting into the water. And don't jump into any water {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(除非) you know how deep it is.

Be patient. It takes time to improve your swimming {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (技能).Maybe in the beginning you can only make it halfway across the pool before you need to take a break, and that' s okay. As you practice more, you' ll be able to swim a little longer each time.

Mother Teresa was a symbol of hope and love to many dying and sick people around the world. She was the {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(young) of three children and became a nun(修女) in a church later. One of {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(she) first tasks was to run the schools in India. A year later, Sister Teresa arrived in Calcutta {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (teach) at St. Mary's High School.

She {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(final) moved to the poor area of Calcutta to live and set up a school. She almost gave every cent she ever owned to {#blank#}5{#/blank#}hungry and poor. She opened an orphanage (孤儿院) {#blank#}6{#/blank#}the homeless children to live in. She won many prizes because of her great work, and each time she would use the money from the prizes to help other people. {#blank#}7{#/blank#}a kind woman she was! And in 1979, she won the Nobel Peace Prize for what she did.

Through the years, her name changed to Mother Teresa. She was truly a mother to many. But life was not easy for her. She had heart problems and other {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (ill). But she never stopped helping those in need till the day she died.

"We {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(learn) a lot from her and done something like her," said some volunteers. "Mother Teresa's examples {#blank#}10{#/blank#}words continue to encourage us." 

It's Monday afternoon. Amy comes back home from school. Mom asks," How is your day, Amy?"

" It's not 1 , Mom. Math is always difficult for me and math lessons are so 2 ," Amy says.

" Have a rest(休息一下), Amy. We need some 3 for dinner. How about going to Mr. Green's food store 4 me?" Mom says.

"OK," Amy says.

 Then at the 5 store, Mom says," Amy, we need three pounds(磅) of potatoes (土豆) and four pounds of carrots. Can you 6 them?"

" Sure," Amy says and goes to take them.

 Then Amy looks at the 7 of the vegetables and reads," Polatoes are two dollars for one pound and carrots are three dollars for two pounds."

 Mom asks,"8 do we need to pay(支付)?"

" Twelve dollars!" Amy says.

" You' re 9 . Math can be easy, and it's part of our life(我们生活的一部分)," Mom says.

"I see. Thanks, Mom. I take an interesting 10 lesson today," Amy says.

I will never forget my first English class. It is very interesting. It's the first class in the morning. The teacher goes into the classroom with a smile on his face. At the beginning，he makes a self-introduction（自我介绍）. And he tells us that his English name is John. Then he asks all of us to think of English names for ourselves. We are very excited to find a good name. Then he asks us to write our names down on a piece of paper. I think about my English name for a long time. Then I come up with（想出）a beautiful name — Shirley.

All the students write their names down and give the paper to the teacher. When the teacher calls "Shirley" to answer his question, three girls stand up at the same time.

I don't have much time to do sports now. Too much homework makes me feel very{#blank#}1{#/blank#} sometimes. 

In fact, I love sports, especially skateboarding.{#blank#}2{#/blank#} I think of my first skateboarding competition, I feel very excited. I can still remember the day when I was in Grade Seven, we had a competition in our school. Many students took part in it, but I got more{#blank#}3{#/blank#} than others. I felt very proud. And I took a picture to {#blank#}4{#/blank#} that day. 

Doing sports can make us relaxed. But many people always have many {#blank#}5{#/blank#} not to do sports. What a pity!

Many people think firefighters only fight fires, but we do a lot more! Every day is different in our job. Some days are {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (danger) than others, but today something {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (fun) happened. We answered a call from {#blank#}3{#/blank#} worried neighbour. When we {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (arrive), we found a little boy sitting at the top of a tree looking very unhappy. The neighbour was below the tree {#blank#}5{#/blank#} shouted up, "Don't worry, Jake! The firefighters are here!" We got out our ladder and I climbed {#blank#}6{#/blank#}to the boy. I asked him, "What are you doing up here?" He looked at me {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (sad) and said, "I came up {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (save) my kitten (小猫). It was stuck in the tree." "Oh," I said. "And {#blank#}9{#/blank#}is your kitten now?" The boy pointed to a little grey kitten sitting by the front door of the house. "Well," I smiled, "I think you could be a good firefighter one day, but you need to learn to climb big {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (tree)!" The little boy laughed and I carried him down to his mother.
