Xing Bin is a 47-year-old teacher in Linyi University in Shandong province. He has worked there for 19 years. At the end of 2022, he experienced the work of a delivery rider (外卖骑手). More than half a year later, he shared his understanding and thoughts online, which quickly caused heated discussions.

Xing Bin was so interested in the life and work of a delivery rider that he decided to be one from December 22nd to January 20th. During the month, Xing worked more than 10 hours and took 30,000 steps a day. He lost 6 kilograms and made a total of 7,000 yuan. On average, he made 10 yuan each hour, and 20 yuan at most.

"During that month, I tasted the bitterness (苦难) and the happiness of this job with my heart," Xing said. "I delivered over 2,000 orders, and three deliveries impressed (使印象深刻) me a lot. One took place late at night when I delivered food to a village where there were no streetlights. The couple who ordered the food were afraid that I would get lost in the middle of the night. So they used a flashlight to walk me out of the small village to the main road."

Xing now understands the difficulties of delivery workers better and realizes how hard they work to make a living. "I also hope that more people can understand delivery workers and show more respect towards them," he said. "I will continue to try different jobs every year in the future."

My aunt Nancy is a truck driver. When she left school, she didn't know what she wanted to do, so she went to work in a supermarket. One day, she was talking to one of the truck drivers at the supermarket, and she got the idea to drive a truck herself. She went home and told her parents (my grandparents！), and they thought it was a good idea.

Nancy's journeys are different every day, and she goes to every part of the country. She enjoys the driving, but she says that one day, she would like to get a job with a different company(公司) so that she can drive to more places.

Nancy says she likes being out on the road, seeing new towns all the time, but the best thing about driving trucks for her is talking to everyone she sees during her working day. She also says the trucks are comfortable, so she doesn't mind sleeping in them. For her, they are her home on wheels!

I asked my grandparents what they thought about Nancy's job. They are happy that Nancy is happy, so they don't want her to change jobs. But they worry about her because it's sometimes a dangerous job and she spends a lot of time away from home.

What do people do with their old, out of date but still useful computers? Most people don't know how to deal with them. Many old computers are put away. Many more are simply thrown away as rubbish.

Finally, some companies are thinking of ways to bring down the number of old computers. Sony has agreed to help recycle old Sony products(产品). Dell, Hewlett Packard and other companies now also take back some old computers of their own brands.

In some countries, laws have been passed, too. Computer companies have to pay for collecting and recycling their used products. And 70% of computer waste must be recycled. The idea behind the laws is that computer companies themselves should pay for the cost. That will encourage them to make computers which are easier and cheaper to repair and upgrade(升级).

Yet many people are throwing away good computers, while others cannot afford them at all. Hundreds of organizations are working on this problem. They collect and repair old computers. Some also teach others how to repair computers. These repaired computers then go to schools, charities(慈善团体) or people who need them. Giving a used computer to one of these organizations can turn one person's rubbish into someone else's useful things and cut down waste, too.

 Among all the pen productions, the writing brush(maobi) is a kind of special writing tool mainly made in China.

 Archaeologists(考古学家) said that writing brushes first appeared about 5,000 years ago. Hengshui, Xuancheng and Huzhou were three centers for making writing brushes in Chinese history. Many people still celebrate the invention of the brush every year.

____ Materials(材料) for the head part include rabbit hair, horse hair and so on. Some Chinese people like to make the writing brush with babies' lanugos(胎毛). People believe that a writing brush made of the hair of newborn babies will bring good luck while taking exams. As for stalks(笔杆), common materials are usually wood, but we can also see some special ones made of ivory, gold and some other expensive materials.

 It's considered that the writing brush is the most important one among the Four Treasures of Chinese Study. In Chinese calligraphy(书法) and Chinese painting, the writing brush is widely used. In ancient China, children had to learn calligraphy and try to write a good hand. Even the emperors were good at calligraphy. Nowadays, some Chinese people still practice calligraphy with a writing brush from a very young age. Calligraphy is beneficial to people in some ways. When writing, people will forget all worries and even themselves, turning all thoughts into the beauty of art. People think it helps improve a person's temper(脾气).

 Writing or painting with writing brushes is not only a way of communication, but also a way of expressing a person's inner world.
