Hangzhou is a beautiful city. The 19 Asian Games （亚运会） was held in Hangzhou. It is a big game for the Asian countries. The mascots （吉祥物） are Lianlian, Chongchong and Chenchen.

During the Asian Games, thousands of volunteers （志愿者） came to Hangzhou. Xiaoming is one of them. He is a student in Hangzhou. He's polite and helpful. He likes making friends. Alice is his new friend. She's helpful, too. She likes music. She can play the piano. She loves the West Lake. She often goes boating on it. How cool! Alice is from London. It is always rainy. So people should take an umbrella all the time. Mark is a cool boy from Sydney. He's helpful and friendly. He can do Chinese kung fu! He also likes sports. He can swim and play football. Sydney is a beautiful and clean city, There are lots of parks there. We can see lovely kangaroos and koalas everywhere!

It's time for winter vacation! There are different ways to have great vacations. Let's have a look!

① Playing Vacations

It is fun to go to the seaside. You can swim in the sea or make sandcastles on the beach. Going g to mountains for walks or hiking is enjoyable, too. You can see green mountains and breathe fresh air there.

② Learning Vacations

You may like a learning vacation. You can travel to different museums and learn about history; art or science there. You can also learn by visiting historic sites, such as famous old buildings and old houses.

It is a good chance for you to help others in your vacation. You can help the scientists to make surveys about animals or plants. You can be a volunteer in public places. Helping old people in the community is also meaningful.

Visiting relatives（亲戚）is a popular vacation. Maybe some of your relatives live in different places. You may live in the city; and your cousins may live on a farm. You can learn about country life when you visit them.

Many students like junk food (垃圾食品). After school, they buy some junk food in the shops. Candy, cola,biscuits and ice cream are junk food. They taste good, but they are bad for our health(健康). Junk food has a lot of sugar(糖). Eating a lot of sugar is not healthy. It can make you fat. We should eat healthy food. Fruit, vegetables(蔬菜), bread, rice and noodles are healthy food. Do you want to be healthy? Don't eat junk food. Eat more healthy food.

The sea looks very beautiful when the sun is shining on it. But people are afraid of when there is a strong wind. The sea is very big. It covers about three quarters of the earth. The sea is also very deep in some places. There is one place in the sea. It is about 11 kilometres deep there. The highest mountain in the world is about 9 kilometres high. If we put the mountain into the sea at that place, there is about 2 kilometres of water above it. In most parts of the sea, there are a lot of fish and small living things. The sea can be very cold. When people go down, the sea becomes colder and colder. Only some men can go down into the deep sea.

Tidy(整理) some boxes or bags in your room，if you don't use them often.

Make something with used(使用过的) things. I make a pencil box with a can. Then I put my pencils and pens into it. Now the pencil box is on the desk. There is a clock above my bed. I make it with a used cake box.

​​ Write"Keep(保留)"and"Donate(捐赠)"on two boxes. When you find toys，books or clothes you don't need，put them in the " Donate" box. Then you can give them to others.
