In 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping offered to build a Silk Road Economic Belt (经济带) and a 21st Century Maritime (海上) Silk Road, which became known as the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI, "一带一路"倡议). The BRI has brought cultures together for over ten years. As the BRI continues to bring the world together, young people from the Belt and Road countries can see how it continues to develop and have a deeper understanding of it. We did a survey of 125 Chinese students. The following survey is about BRI in the eyes of the students. The diagrams (图表) below show the results.

According to the Chinese lunar calendar* , 12 animals mark 12 different years-rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pip. Your year of birth decides your zodiac. Some people believe that people born under the same zodiac share similar characteristics*. Here are some zodiac signs and their characteristics. 

The ox is the second animal in the Chinese zodiac. In one folk story(民间传说), all of the animals held a race to choose the 12 animals of the zodiac. The ox was in the first place. But it didn't see a rat on its back. When the ox was close to the finishing line, the rat jumped down and became the winner!It is believed that people born in the Year of the Ox are patient and hard-working! But they can be stubborn* sometimes. 

It is said that people born in the Year of the Dragon are creative, confident, outgoing and quick-tempered(性急的). They also like to help others. They're warm-hearted so that they may have many friends. 

Chinese people believe that those who are born in the Year of the Rooster are active. They also like to be the center of attention and always look beautiful. They are the happiest when they are surrounded by others, whether at a party or just around friends. 

Sometimes I really want to know if （是否） there is love between my parents. Every day they are very busy making money for our life. One day, my mother was sewing a quilt （缝被子）. "Mum, is there 1 between you and dad?" I asked. 

With surprise in 2 eyes, my mum stopped her work for a moment. Then she said, "Susan, look at this thread （线）. You can't see it easily, 3 it's really there. It makes the quilt strong. If life is a quilt, love should be a thread. Love is inside."

The next spring, my father 4 ill. After they were back from hospital, my mother helped my father walk 5 the country road every day. They were kind and happy. 

After two months, my father still couldn't 6 . "Dad, how are you feeling now?" I asked him one day. "Susan, don't 7 me," he said, "I just like walking with your mum. I like this kind of life." 8 his eyes, I knew he loves my mother 9 . 

Now I know that love is just a thread in the quilt of our life. Love is inside. It makes life strong and 10 .

Festival means having a great time for fun. Every country has its own way of celebrating festivals. Here are some interesting festivals in the world. 

Pamplona Bull(公牛) Run

If you want to experience running in front of the bull, you can plan your visit to Spain to join in their amazing festival. Every year this festival is celebrated during July. Anyone who is above 18 can go and enjoy this festival. 

Konaki Sumo Fest

Every year, this festival is celebrated during April in Japan. In this festival, Sumo Wrestlers(相扑运动员) hold babies in their hands and face off each other to see whose baby will cry first. This festival is perfect for someone who loves sumo wrestlers and babies. 

Holi, Vrindavan

The Holi Festival is also known as the festival of colors. It is an ancient Hindu festival. It starts with a bonfire (篝火) on the night before Holi. The next day is a day of colors. Everyone celebrates it by throwing colors and water to each other. Every year it is celebrated in India during March. 

Gol den Retriever(金毛寻回犬) Festival

Each summer in Scotland, usually around July, hundreds of golden retrievers get together in the country. The festival includes different games and competitions for golden retrievers and their human friends. With a big picnic of delicious Scottish food and group training classes, it is just a happy place to be. 

Living in a big family can be both enjoyable and troublesome. DAILY NEWS has interviewed a few teenagers {#blank#}1{#/blank#} live with their parents and grandparents. Let's see what three of them think of living in a big family.

WenJiayi(aged 14)

"Living with my grandparents {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(be) a chance to have a better understanding of the meaning of family. The time that I spend with my grandparents is usually {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(many) than the time I spend with my parents. My grandparents and I always have fun together. We go on walks, chat with while {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(have) lunch, and watch TV together. I really enjoy being with my grandparents."

Liu Haoxuan (aged 13)

"Most of the time,I am happy with the idea of living with my grandparents. I think they' re lovely and nice. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} sometimes I also feel annoyed. They may look at some new things with {#blank#}6{#/blank#} old- fashioned view. Sometimes I have no idea {#blank#}7{#/blank#} to make them understand me. I guess this {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(call) the generation gap. However, I don't mind having disagreements with them . It is part of life, isn't it?"

ZhengYishi(aged 15)

"I am close to my grandparents, as well as to most of my other relatives. Most of my American friends don't have such close family relations that they are amazed to find that my family usually do things together. I know that some Italian-Americans also have big {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(family). All of the members of an Italian family choose to live on the same street. In this way, they can take care of each other {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(easy) It seems that different cultures have different family traditions and people keep those traditions even after moving to another country."
