The first "Luoyang Virtual Reality (虚拟现实) Project" has ever become a hit since it opened to public, attracting many drama fans and digital technology lovers. The project makes it possible to bring us back to the ancient Luoyang by using VR technology.

The project was set in a theater which covers about 300 square meters in Shanghai. It created a highly realistic environment using VR technology, Inside-out Tracking technology and other technologies to set up different props, such as horses, ships, and tools.

Users can have a "time travel" experience with an exciting 60-minute VR-powered journey, traveling back to 1,300 years ago to "visit" the ancient city of Luoyang. Inside the theater, they can not only play roles in the drama, but also choose costumes and take photos according to their interests.

The application (应用) of VR technology allows tourists to walk in the theater and experience the ancient life of Luoyang, and feel the charm (魅力) of traditional Chinese culture.

This project successfully creates a new way to spread Chinese culture through using VR technology. What's more, it brings modern technology into our daily lives and creates an all-immersive (拟真的) experience.

Leonardo da Vinci (莱奥纳多·达·芬奇) was famous artist who was born in Italy. He was also a great inventor. Many of his inventions have become important in modern life. Although Leonardo hated war, he invented many different machines used for war. His most special invention was the machine gun, which was produced and used in war. Besides, Leonardo spent days thinking about how to save time. He developed ideas for something like cutting machines.

Leonardo was strange man. He never ate meat. That was very unusual in those times (时代). He never published (发表) scientific discoveries. He usually used mirror writing, which looks like usual writing in a mirror, starting from the right side of the page and moving to the left side.

Only a few of his paintings are left today. Many paintings were not finished because he thought they were not perfect.

Leonardo was talented and creative. He was regarded as one of the most intelligent men in the world.

Twelve teachers and students from the University of Verona in Italy recently went to Liangnong town, Yuyao city, Zhejiang province, to do research and learn about traditional Chinese culture.

The group went to Liangnong's Intangible Cultural Heritage(非物质文化遗产) Exhibition Hall, where they learned about Yuyao's unique cultural heritage and the local ways of life and traditions.

With the help of a skilled baker, they also learned how to make Liangnong Rice Cake, a traditional local food. People in the area eat this cake during special events like the Lunar New Year, weddings, housewarming parties, and birthdays. It'a symbol of the hope for a good life.

" First, we pour the mixed rice flour into the rice cake mold(模具). Then use tools to make square holes. Next, put sweet fillings into the holes," The skilled baker carefully showed the steps of making Liangnong Rice Cake while telling the Italian teachers and students about its history and culture. The finishing touch, which the students found most interesting, was to print Chinese characters on the cake with a special tool.

"Today's experience was fantastic. We learned how to make Liangnong Rice Cake, and I really enjoyed it. This is my first time in China, and I hope to come to China more in the future," said Giordano Giada, an Italian student.

Barbara Bisetto, the head of the Chinese Department at the University of Verona and an expert on Chinese culture, said in fluent Chinese, " China has a long history and a rich and beautiful culture. This time, I also learned about Chinese manners, customs, and traditions. So for me, as someone who studies Chinese culture, it is a very special experience."

This summer camp is a project between Ningbo University and the University of Verona. By inviting Italian students to visit Liangnong, the university wants to present local culture to a bigger world and support rural revitalization(乡村振兴) with cultural strength.

Did you know something about sign language（手语）? Sign language is the main way for deaf people to communicate. Since they can't hear, talking to hearing people can be hard. Luckily, sign language interpreters（译员） are there to help.

Hao Shuxin, 24, sees sign language as her mother language, because her parents are deaf. "I picked up sign language before I could even talk," she said. In2018, she became a sign language interpreter in Chongqing. Her work takes her to places like courts（法庭）, where she interprets for deaf people in legal（法律上的） cases.

Since sign language has fewer words, Hao often meets difficult words without direct match. In such situations, she carefully breaks down the meaning for deaf people. There are also grammatical differences between Chinese and sign language. "For example, the words 'put out a fire' are signed as 'a fire put out' in sign language, as deaf people describe what they see first," Hao explained.

Hao feels stressed at work because being correct is important in interpretations. Her worry also comes from the fact that sign language has "dialects". The same word can be expressed with different hand gestures（手势） depending on where a deaf person is from. "For example, people in Shanxi and Chongqing use different gestures for the word 'true'," Hao explained. Having traveled to over 30 cities in China, she has learned about the special ways for deaf people across the country to use sign language.

In her spare time, Hao reads many law books and talks with lawyers and her deaf workmates to improve her ability. "My parents are deaf, so I understand the difficulties faced by the deaf community. I want to do everything I can to help them, and I hope more people will join us," Hao said.
