Tea does not mean the same thing to everyone. In different countries people have different ideas about tea-drinking.

    Chinese people drink tea at any time of the day at homes or in teahouses. They prefer their tea with nothing else in it. The Japanese way of having tea is very old and full of meaning. There is even a special room for tea-drinking in Japanese homes. In England, almost everyone has a cup of tea in the late afternoon. The English usually make tea in a teapot and drink it with cream and sugar. They also eat cakes and cookies with tea. Americans usually use tea bags to make their tea. It's faster and easier. They drink tea mostly for breakfast or after meals. In summer they drink cold tea or iced tea.

The International Day of Families

Languages play an important part in our life. Mother language is a very intimate（密切的）thing to us. For people who speak an ancient tongue as their mother language, it helps them keep their traditions. If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to a man in his own language, that goes to his heart. 

The associations that lie in the languages bring ideas and pictures to our minds. Associations are just the power of languages. However, how language came into being is unknown. All we know is that some early men invented certain sounds to express thoughts and feelings, actions and things, so that they could talk with each other. Later they agreed on certain signs, which could be put together to show those sounds, and which could be written down. Those sounds, whether spoken or written in letters, are called words

Words become filled with meaning for us by experience; and the longer we live, the more certain words bring back to us the happy and sad events of our past; and the more we read and learn, the more the number of words that mean something to us increases. 

Over the last century, more than 400 languages have died out. Some languages are now spoken only by a few dozens of people. Why are humans speaking fewer languages than we once did? The answer has to do with globalization（全球化）. Nowadays, it's more useful to speak certain languages-English is one example-rather than others. 

As US writer Rita Mae Brown wrote, "Language is the roadmap of a culture. It tells where its people come from and where they are going." We should learn to choose our words carefully and use them correctly, or they will make ourselves silly and common. 

Li Peng is 12 years old. Today is {#blank#}1{#/blank#}first day of junior high. He is happy and {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. He packs everything he needs. He puts two orange notebooks and a {#blank#}3{#/blank#}pencil case into his schoolbag. Li Peng comes into the new classroom and {#blank#}4{#/blank#} his new friends and teachers. They are all friendly. Ms Lin gives out（分发） new {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. Li Peng writes his name carefully on the cover（封面）. Then Li Peng and his friends are {#blank#}6{#/blank#} to take lessons. They have an interesting {#blank#}7{#/blank#}technology lesson and they learn how to use the computer in class. 

After school, Li Peng plays with his new friends in the {#blank#}8{#/blank#}. He is very happy. But at night, he finds he {#blank#}9{#/blank#}to take his homework home. Finally, Daming helps him. Li Peng has fun today and he is looking forward to（期待） future school {#blank#}10{#/blank#}. 

The four Seasons

Many places have {#blank#}1{#/blank#} seasons.  They are spring, summer, autumn and winter.  The weather and sunlight change season by season. 

We see a lot of young {#blank#}2{#/blank#} （animal）in spring, chicks hatch（孵）and lambs（羔羊）are born（出生）.  There are more daylight hours {#blank#}3{#/blank#} spring than in winter.  In summer, we have {#blank#}4{#/blank#} good time in the sun.  We wear short, light clothing.  Summer {#blank#}5{#/blank#} （have）the most daylight hours.  It is very hot and bright.  Fruit grows on trees.  The {#blank#}6{#/blank#} （leaf）fall from the trees in autumn.  Autumn is a cool season.  Birds start to move to warm places in autumn.  You can see them in the sky.  Winter is cold and {#blank#}7{#/blank#} （snow）.  It has the fewest daylight hours.  There are almost no leaves on the trees.  It is interesting {#blank#}8{#/blank#} （make）snowmen. 

Each season is {#blank#}9{#/blank#} （beauty）.  How {#blank#}10{#/blank#} （love）they are!
