Children love their parents, but I didn't get on well with my parents before. I hardly talked to my parents, because they liked to 1 me with my sister. And that made me unhappy. I sometimes argued 2 them for that.

    However, I wanted to show them that I could do things as well as my sister. Then I began to spend most of my free time painting in my bedroom. Luckily, my art teacher, Miss Green, 3 to help me a lot. She taught me some drawing 4 to improve my painting. She was the only person I would like to talk with.

    One day, I told Miss Green about my problem. She encouraged me to enter a painting competition. In her mind，the best way to communicate with my parents was to prove（证明）5. I took her advice.

    Several days later, Miss Green told me the result. I was very happy and excited 6 I won the first prize! My parents were very 7 and I could see that they were very happy. And they began to care more about me. Now 8 between my parents and me have become very good. And I think it's very important to have someone to talk with.

I'm David. When I was 13, my parents decided that I should go to England to improve my English. I had never been to other countries before, so I felt a little worried. My parents prepared everything for my journey. My plane was due(预定) to leave at 9:30 am and arrive in two hours. I phoned the English family who I would stay with and they told me they would wait for me at the airport.

Unluckily my plane to London was delayed(推迟). I tried to phone the English family again but I couldn't speak to them because they had already left home for the airport.

When I arrived in London, it was already 1:30 pm. I went to get my luggage(行李) but I couldn't find it. I became very worried. Luckily, the airport workers were very helpful and efficient. I didn't wait long — they found it 10 minutes later.

My English family were quite kind. I learned a lot of English because I spent most of the days talking in English. I played computer games with the little boy in my English family. I also taught him how to play chess. Sometimes I told him stories I learned from my family.

I missed my family during my stay in London, but I also felt sad when my stay came to an end. My English family held a party for me. I enjoyed it very much. I'll never forget that summer in London! It is one of the most wonderful experiences I've ever had.

Song Lian was a famous litterateur (文学家), historian and thinker in the late Yuan Dynasty (朝 代) and early Ming Dynasty.

Song Lian loved reading. But he was from a poor family, he could not afford to buy books. He borrowed books from others and returned them on time. He never broke his promise. One day, Song Lian went to borrow books from Mr. Liu who was a rich man. But he never lent books to strangers easily. Mr. Liu thought Song Lian was a hard-working man so he agreed to lend Song Lian a book. Song Lian told Mr. Liu he would return it in three days. Mr. Liu thought for a while and said nothing. Finally, Song Lian borrowed the book home.

After he returned home, Song Lian couldn't wait to start reading. He didn't go out to play and stayed up to read.

Finally, on the third morning, Song Lian left early and returned the book to Mr. Liu. Mr. Liu was very happy and praised Song Lian for his integrity (诚信). It's great to be a person with knowledge, but it's more important to be a person who keeps his promise.

I am Frank. I am 13 years old. I have a good friend. His name is John and he is 14 years old. We were born( 出 生 ) in Jinhua. Now I live in Hangzhou. John still lives in our hometown(家乡). We live far away from each other, but we're still very good friends.

 We call each other very often and talk about our school life and studies. John is good at maths and science. But I am bad at maths. He always helps me with it. Also, he likes music and art. When he is free, he likes singing and drawing.

 We never forger(忘记) each other's birthdays. This year I give him a schoolbag as a gift, and he gives me a toy car.

 This weekend, I will go back to Jinhua. I will see cows, sheep, and ducks at my grandpa's farm. And of course, I will see my friend. We can play together, study together and read books together. Both he and I look forward to(期待) the weekend.
