Hello, everyone! I'd like to tell you something about a famous scientist named Qian Xuesen. He was born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province on December 11, 1911. After he graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1934, he got a chance to study in USA. After he graduated, he became a teacher as well as a researcher who studied rockets and missile theories.

    When he was 44, he returned to his motherland and the country's space research was almost a blank. In 1956, he set up the first research institute of rockets and missiles. He made such important contributions to the missile and space programs that he was honored as "The Father of China's Missiles". The Chinese people are proud of him.

    He passed away on October 31, 2009 at the age of 98, but all the Chinese will remember him forever. His devotion to his country was expressed in his saying, "My career is in China, my success is in China and my destination is in China!" When someone said he could make much more money if he stayed in the United States, he laughed and said," My family name is Qian, but I don't like qian." His spirit encourages us to love our country and devote ourselves to science.

What will you do in thesummer? Here is my plan. I will volunteer (当志愿者)at ARG (Animal Rights Group). ARG takes care of pets without a home.

Sometimes, people move away and they can't take their pets with them. Or, people are too old or sick and they can't take care of their pets. Or sometimes, people are not nice to their pets.

See this puppy. His name is Rocket. His family left him alone in a field. Luckily, ARG found Rocket and took him to the animal centre.

ARG needs a lot of volunteers. I'm going to volunteer four times a week. I will walk the dogs and l will help with the other animals too. I love animals.

Have a look at the picture. There is a fairytale (童话) treehouse in it. Radamshome, a lovely dad, built it for his daughter. It is really beautiful, isn't it?

Radamshome is an artist (艺术家). His job is to make video games. One day, his daughter said that she dreamed (梦想) to have a fairy tree in her bedroom that she could sit and read books inside. So Radamshome decided to build a fairytale treehouse for his daughter. 

Radamshome said that he began with an idea, and then drew a picture. Next, he made a scale model (比例模型). He prepared (准备) all the things he needed. He first built a tree with steel and cement (钢筋和水泥). Then he painted the tree in beautiful colors. He even decorated (装饰) the tree with flowers, birds nests, butterflies and some Christmas lights. The treehouse looks very beautiful and special when the lights are on at night. There are also some animal toys near the tree. 

Radamshome spent eighteen months finishing this treehouse. He feels very happy when he sees his daughter reading books inside the fairy treehouse.

China is a great country with more than 5, 000 years of history. There are many places of interest. They attract millions of tourists from all over the world every year. 

Many mountains, such as Mount Tai, Mount Emei, Mount Hua are very famous. People like go to Mount Tai to 1 the sun rise. 

There are many rivers in China. The Yangtze River is the longest one and the second 2 one is the Yellow River. They are the 3 of Chinese culture because Chinese ancestors (祖先) were born in the areas. 4 the rivers in China, there are also a great number of lakes. One of the most famous lakes is the West Lake. Have you heard of the story about Xu Xian and White Snake? It is said that the story 5 on the West Lake. The West Lake is the best place that I have every visited. It lies in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. The scenery is so attractive that visitors often lose 6 in it. The West Lake has become famous 7 not only its special scenery but some beautiful poems. The great poets Bai Juyi and Su Dongpo 8 plenty of plenty of poems. 9 the surround- ing (周边) area of the West Lake is the home of the famous Dragon Well Tea. The tea is good for people's health.

Our school is in the center of the town. But we live in the countryside. Mum thinks it is quiet there. It takes me about one hour to go to school by bike is difficult for me to get to school before eight o'clock in winter if it snows. Sometimes I am late for class. And I have to get up early in the morning. I am often tired in the evening. I tell my parents about it. Daddy finds a job in a supermarket in the town. We move to a house there. It's not far from the train station and I can ride to school. It takes me only fifteen minutes. Now I don't worry about being late for school. And I can play soccer with my friends after supper.
