"Dreams may be more important than sleep. We all need to dream," some scientists say.
Dreams take up about one quarter of sleeping time. People have several dreams each night. Dreams are like short films. They are usually in colour. Some dreams are like old films. They come to us over and over again. That may be because the dreamer is worrying about something. Dreaming may be a way of trying to find an answer.
Some people get new ideas about their work from dreams. They may be thinking about their work all day. These thoughts can carry over into (延续到) dreams.
Sometimes we wake up with a good feeling from a dream. But often we can't remember the dream. Dreams can disappear quickly from memories.
Too much dreaming can be harmful(有害的). The more we sleep, the longer we dream. The mind is hard at work when we dream. That is why we may have a long sleep but still feel tired when we wake up.

In winter and spring, the flu is a kind of serious illness. In fact, it is hard for you to stay away from it. However, there are some ways to cut down the possibility of catching it.
{#blank#}1{#/blank#}
According to a study, the immune system(免疫系统) in the body doesn't work well in the cold weather, while viruses(病毒) don't like the warm body. So wearing enough clothes may help keep away from them.
{#blank#}2{#/blank#}
Although it's possible for you to keep away from anyone coughing, you're more likely to pick up viruses from something you touch. "Wash hands often. If there is no way to clean hands, try not to touch your eyes or nose," said Dr Walton. "This is a common way for viruses to get into your body."
{#blank#}3{#/blank#}
When you're sleeping, your body is able to produce something to fight with viruses. People who sleep for seven to eight hours will have a stronger immune system than those who sleep less. According to Dr Walton, if you can't get enough sleep during the night, a 30-minute daytime nap is enough to make up for the bad effect of the poor nighttime sleep on the immune system.
{#blank#}4{#/blank#}
Taking enough exercise can keep the immune system work better. However, doing too much exercise may bring some bad results. For example, you may catch viruses more easily.
{#blank#}5{#/blank#}
To keep away from the flu, having flu jabs(预防针) is necessary and important. "It's true that the jab can't protect us against all kinds of flu, but it can save lives. I certainly have one every year,"says Dr Walton.
A. Get the flu jab in time B. Take control of the body C. Do enough exercise to keep strong D. Keep your hands clean at any time E. Put on enough clothes to keep warm F. Have enough sleep every day |
Several months ago, New Zealand announced a plan. Under the plan, the country would make it illegal(非法的) for people born after 2008 to buy cigarettes(香烟). {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. And it won't make a difference to smokers now.
Starting in 2023, people under the age of 15 would be stopped from buying cigarettes. After that, the age limit(限制) for buying tobacco products would be raised every year. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. In short, the move will stop people born after 2008 from ever buying tobacco products.
Tobacco products contain something poisonous(有毒的) called nicotine(尼古丁). Though nicotine isa poison, when people have a little bit of it, it can give them an excited feeling. Over time, nicotine changes the body so people feel like they need more of it. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. Then people are unable to stop taking it. That's why it's so difficult for people to stop smoking.
{#blank#}4{#/blank#}. It's one of the leading causes of deaths around the world. In New Zealand, about 5,000 people die every year from illnesses connected with smoking.
No country has ever tried an age limit- raising smoking plan like New Zealand's before. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. We expect the plan to have important influences.
A. This may be a good try B. They may feel sick if they don't get more C. Smoking is very dangerous to human health D. People spend a lot of money in buying cigarettes every year E. The plan is made to prevent young people from ever starting to smoke F. By 2050, someone would have to be at least 42 years old to buy cigarettes |
