Lifestyles of children around the world are very different.

In Colombia, family relationships are strong and children usually live close to their parents all their lives. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}Colombian children like to play chess. They play the game well.

Children in Sweden experience a different lifestyle. Their school day begins at 8:15 a.m. and most of them cycle to school. After school, many of them go to clubs or take part in sport until their parents pick them up. In the summer, days are long and nights are short. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}

Traditional opinions influence the lives of many children and this is also true in Japan. Japanese children today are surrounded by the very latest and most modern inventions and technologies. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} They are also expected to study hard and succeed in life.

The children of Uganda also enjoy parties and special days but these parties are organized for them by the "Save the Children Fund", rather than by their parents. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}Because of this, many children have lost one or both of their parents to the disease called AIDS. During the weekends, they join group meetings that are run by trained volunteers. These groups give children the chance to play with one another.

{#blank#}5{#/blank#} However, whatever their lifestyles, children should be loved and supported, especially during the early years of their lives.

After two rounds of the competition with 20 debaters (辩论者), I finally sat in the leader's chair in the finals of our school debate competition.

We began by debating whether the Internet makes people 1 or reduces communication with others. I personally held the former. However, many people didn't 2 my opinion. They thought the Internet makes people communicate less with each other. Then we had a debate.

Our team made lots of 3 for the competition. We discussed many topics about the argument. We 4 as many points as possible on cards so that we could give quick and correct answers. We also prepared more information for the competition. It seemed that we would surely 5 .

However, as I sat in front of thousands of people, things turned out 6 . In my opening speech, time flew by so fast that I felt 7 and failed to finish my speech properly. Then it was our opponents' (对手的) turn. They asked me several questions. But one of them could show my weakness. I had no choice but to 8 answering it. I was worried that we would lose marks because of my answers.

Luckily, our 9 paid off. Our team 10 won the competition. The debate taught me to look at everything in different ways and always be fully prepared.

My Hobby

Everyone has his or her own hobby. It {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(give) him or her a lot of fun. My hobby is listening {#blank#}2{#/blank#} music. When I was young, I enjoyed {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(listen) to music when I was free. There are many {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(kind) of music. Pop music can make me happy {#blank#}5{#/blank#} I am sad. And when I am tired, I listen to some quiet music {#blank#}6{#/blank#} it makes me relaxed. And I can fall asleep {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(quick) by listening to it. My favourite music is the music that has good lyrics, because it can help me {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(learn) Chinese or English well. I love listening to music. I will keep this hobby forever. 

Alison, a very unusual painter, paints pictures for a living. However, she doesn't use her hands when she paints. She uses her mouth!

When she was {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (十九), Alison had a car accident. She was h{#blank#}2{#/blank#} so seriously that her family thought she would lose her life. But t{#blank#}3{#/blank#} to the doctor, she was saved. However, her p{#blank#}4{#/blank#} problem caused her to spend many years of her life in hospital. 

Alison {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (需要) plenty of time to relax, but she never gave up. She realised that even though she was disabled (有残疾的), she could express h{#blank#}6{#/blank#} as freely as normal people. This was what got her to start drawing paintings. She believes that she can{#blank#}7{#/blank#} (成功) as others. With great{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(精力), her painting skills have reached a high level and her paintings do not look like they were drawn by someone who used her mouth. Meanwhile, Alison keeps eating h{#blank#}9{#/blank#} food and doing some exercise to stay fit. Alison has become a symbol of {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (勇 气). Many disabled people have been cheered up by her active way of living and become more confident. 

Yesterday I was at home. I {#blank#}1{#/blank#}video games in my room when I heard people screaming. I went out and saw my {#blank#}2{#/blank#}house on fire! The firefighters arrived in {#blank#}3{#/blank#}10 minutes. They fought against the fire for one hour until they made it. One of them even rushed into the house{#blank#}4{#/blank#} the dog out of the fire. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}brave they are!

From voluntarily collecting historical materials related to the Great Wall in his Shanxi hometown in Province to becoming an official cultural heritage protector, Yuan Xuerui has spent over twenty years safeguarding the ancient wonder.

China's Great Wall is one of the great wonders of the world and also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built from 3 BC to the 1800s on the north of the country, the Great Wall has a total length of more than 20,000 kilometers.

Yuan, 55, was born in Qingxibao at the foot of the ancient wall in Shanxi's Daixian county, which is part of the city of Xinzhou. His love for the ancient wall motivated (激励) him to protect it, and when not engaged (从事) in farm work, he spent most of his time walking along the wall to collect bricks that had fallen off due to the long time and prepare for repairs. "What others think as a difficult and dull task of cultural heritage protection often brings me unexpected discoveries," Yuan said.

He officially became a cultural heritage worker in 2018, and since then his duties have expanded from collecting bricks to organizing ancient documents related to the wall to better tell stories about it. As a heritage worker, Yuan has come to understand the meaning of the Great Wall. "Each brick has endured (忍受) the test of time over hundreds of years—in some cases more than a thousand—carrying rich historical memories," he said.

This summer, Yuan organized a campaign to call for people to collect bricks for the future repair of the wall. Many bricks were taken away from the Great Wall by local villagers to build their houses in the 1960s and 1970s. "As villagers' awareness of the need to protect the wall has grown, nowadays, when locals find fallen bricks along the Great Wall, they will pick them up," he said. "If they see garbage, they will also pick it up and throw it into bins."
