    I work in a TV station from Monday to Friday. My house is near a beautiful park and is about thirty kilometers from my office. I usually go to work by train. I usually get up at 6:30 a. m. and take the train at 7:00 a. m. It usually takes me about thirty minutes to get to my office. The train is quick and cheap. I am never late for work.

    I am a student, My house is near a beautiful lake. My school is across from the lake. I can walk to school across a bridge. It takes me about thirty minutes. But I often go to school by boat, because it is more fun. It takes me about twenty minutes.

    I'm a waitress I work in a restaurant from Monday to Saturday. I often go to work by bus, It is about five kilometers from my house to the restaurant. It takes me twenty five minutes to go to work. Sometimes I am late for work because the traffic is very busy.

Grace wasn't a popular kid in her school. The girl, Ashley, was popular and had many friends. They were in the same class 1 didn't talk much.

During the summer school, the teacher asked them to 2 a project (项目) together. Ashley didn't like working with Grace at first, but she gave in. The reason was that her cool 3 were not in the class. However, when the project ended, they became good friends and Ashley introduced (介绍) Grace to the" cool girls". To fit in with 4 group, Grace followed them around and agreed with all their opinions. She began to do what Ashley liked.

One day, she heard Ashley and her friends talking 5 her." Grace just 6 you around, trying to be you. She loses her own personality (个性)," one girl said. Then Ashley answered,"I know. I wish she could find the group she is 7 in." Grace felt so sad and then thought of her mother's 8 ," Everyone is special. Just be 9 ."

Grace decided to find out who she really was. From that day, Grace changed. She was in every play after school and built confidence to be a much 10 self. The friends she made in the theatre are still her great friends to this day.

On a winter morning, a little boy of 10 years old or so went to a phone supermarket to make a telephone call. Clearly, he changed his tone (腔调) of voice while speaking over the phone. When all this was happening, the phone supermarket owner watched and listened with great interest to the conversation that followed:

"Madam, I am a poor boy. Can you give me a job cutting grass on your lawn (草坪)?" the little boy asked.

"Sorry, I already have someone to cut my lawn," the woman at the other end of the phone line answered.

"Madam, I will cut your lawn for half the price of the person who cuts your lawn now."

"The person who is now cutting my lawn satisfies me a lot. He is doing a good job."

"Madam, I'll even sweep your curb (清扫路边), so on Sunday you will have the prettiest lawn in all of Palm beach, Florida."

"No, thank you."

Instead of getting angry, the little boy smiled and put back the receiver (话筒) gently. The supermarket owner, who was listening to the conversation, walked over to the boy and said, "Soon, I like your manner and I would like to offer you a job."

"No, thanks. But I will remember your offer."

"But you were asking for a job so sincerely and seriously when you were talking to the lady over the phone."

"No sir, I was just checking how well or badly I've done the job I already have. I am the one who is working for that lady I was talking to!" the little boy said.

Throughout history, the pillow (枕头) has a very long history. 

Nobody knows for sure when the pillow was invented and who was the i{#blank#}1{#/blank#}of it. It's said that people first used pillows in Mesopotamia around 7000 BC. The pillows were made of stones. So they were not c{#blank#}2{#/blank#} but practical. In ancient China, pillows were made of hard things, such as bamboo and wood. There were wonderful paintings of animals, h{#blank#}3{#/blank#}and plants on the pillows. In the 9th c{#blank#}4{#/blank#}, the ancient Greeks and Romans put things like feathers (羽毛) and grass into pillows to make them feel better. Since then, the softer pillows became p{#blank#}5{#/blank#}. 

Nowadays you can see different kinds of pillows in the market. 

My Good Friend

 Last year in early summer, I was walking up the hill to my house when I saw two birds, each about 60 centimeters tall, standing on the path. They didn't seem to 1 me until I was right in front of them and then they at once moved 2 into the bushes.

I was quite excited by the idea of two birds making a nest in my front yard, although I didn't really expect it 3 wild birds don't usually nest so close.

A few weeks later, the birds4 again. I found them crouching(蜷缩) beside a tree off to the side of the path. As I moved nearer to them,I imagined that they would 5 like they did last time. But 6 they stuck out their heads and made a threatening(威胁的) croaking(呱呱叫) sound. It seemed to warn me not to go any7 .

I didn't know 8 they were croaking at me until a short time later I made an amazing discovery they had 9 small baby birds.

As I moved quietly towards the birds,10 not to make any sudden movements, they started their croaking again. They straightened their necks forward so 11 seemed longer and more threatening. The mother carefully crouched down over the two chicks, and 12 them well in her feathers.

I was watching them with 13 when I suddenly tripped and fell to the ground. The birds took this as a threat and the father raced towards me, spreading his14 to protect the mother and the chicks while making himself appear larger.

I was15 to have surprised them and left quickly. I was amazed by their fearless actions. Their parental natural ability kicked in and made them so brave. It is hard not to respect nature.
