Thirteen-year-old Cindy had been bullied (欺凌) at school for about two years. Her bag, keys and mobile phone had been stolen. She had also been knocked off her bicycle, kicked and punched (以拳重击).

    Cindy tried to fight back, but it always seemed to be her, not the bullies, who got into trouble. She became so afraid of going to school that she started to be absent from her classes.

    Finally, her headmaster set up a special plan, asking students to look after one another. He gave Cindy the courage to play the guitar in a school concert, which gave Cindy new confidence and helped her receive respect from the other students. Gradually, the bullying began to stop.

    Cindy's story is not uncommon, but help is out there. All schools in the UK now have to follow strict bullying policies (政策). There are many charities and organizations giving support to young people, such as Bullying UK and Childline. So remember one very important piece of advice: If you are being bullied, don'tput up with it—tell someone.

September 28th is very important in China. Many people celebrate the day{#blank#}1{#/blank#} it is the birthday of the great teacher Confucius (孔子). 

Confucius{#blank#}2{#/blank#} born in 551BC in China. He loved to learn. He thought about many things, and he wasn't afraid to ask {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. He studied the Six Arts, and he became really good at {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. 

Confucius wanted to share the information {#blank#}5{#/blank#}everyone. He thought they could become better people with education. So he became a {#blank#}6{#/blank#}. 

Confucius{#blank#}7{#/blank#} people's ideas about life. He believed that everyone could be{#blank#}8{#/blank#} if they received an education and worked hard. {#blank#}9{#/blank#}, in his opinion, education was not just information from books. Confucius said a lot of things. His{#blank#}10{#/blank#} put them in a book to share with everyone. 

Embroidery(刺绣) is an important traditional art form in Chinese culture. The most famous embroidery styles are Su embroidery from Suzhou, Shu embroidery from Sichuan, Xiang embroidery from Hunan and Yue embroidery from Guangdong. Shu embroidery has the longest history of all. 

Since modern machines can make cheaper embroidery products today, fewer people buy hand-made Shu embroidery products. There are also very few young embroiderers. The skill is endangered. 

Meng Dezhi, a national-level inheritor(传承人) of the art form, has been making Shu embroidery for forty years. She used to work at the Chengdu Shu Embroidery Factory. But in 2006, the factory went broke and Meng lost her job. Wanting to save the art, Meng wanted to have her own place and teach Shu embroidery to others. 

It's hard work. Embroidery takes time and patience. Workers need to divide each silk thread(线) into more than ten or even thirty pieces. Each piece is thinner than a single human hair. In 2016, Baidu invited Meng to make a homepage logo for Qixi Festival. It was a small logo, but it required the use of 45 types of sewing techniques(针法) and 35,000 stitches(针). 

Meng is teaching in different universities and communities to save Shu embroidery. She believes that Shu embroidery stands for thousands of years of Sichuan culture and should be saved. "I feel that I have the responsibility to pass on Shu embroidery skills to young people, to let it run from generation to generation." She said.

Jim is a good student and he has lots of friends, but he also has a problem. Some older boys are bullying (欺负) him. Jim is very helpless and he doesn't know what to do about it. Here is some advice for him and other teenagers in this situation.

Bullying is not very common in schools. However, everyone should know something about how to deal with this problem.

Being bullied can make you feel very upset and angry, but you are not alone. Don't hide the problem. Find a person you can trust, such as a teacher or your parents, and tell him or her what you are suffering. After you talk to someone, you will get some support and feel better.

Maybe you will be nervous to speak to an adult, but there are other things you can do. Some people express their feelings more easily on paper. Write a letter to someone or keep a diary, including all the details about what the bullies do, as well as when and where the bullying happened. You can show your letter or diary to responsible adults, and let them know what is going on. The bullies will feel very afraid if their names appear in a letter!

Also, don't show your fear and don't try to fight with the bullies. You can get into trouble, Pay no attention to them and walk away, and the bullies will soon stop.

I love you, so I let you go

There was once a lonely girl. She wanted to get love very much. One day when she was walking in the woods, she {#blank#}1{#/blank#} two hungry birds. She took them home and put them in a small cage (笼子). She looked {#blank#}2{#/blank#} them with love and the birds grew strong. Every day they sang sweet songs for her. The girl felt great love for the birds.

One day the girl forgot {#blank#}3{#/blank#} the door to the cage. One bird flew from the cage. The girl was{#blank#}4{#/blank#} afraid that it would fly away. As it flew close, she caught it wildly. She was very happy.

Suddenly, she felt {#blank#}5{#/blank#} strange (奇怪的) with the bird. She opened her hand and looked surprisingly at the dead bird. Her {#blank#}6{#/blank#} killed it.

She noticed the other bird moving quickly in the cage. She could feel {#blank#}7{#/blank#} need for freedom. She guided (指引) the bird to fly into the air. She wanted the bird to be happy.

The bird flew around once, {#blank#}8{#/blank#}, three times. Finally, it flew closer and landed in her hand. It sang and sang. The music sounded the {#blank#}9{#/blank#} in the world. Then the girl realized {#blank#}10{#/blank#} important thing-- We should let go for love.

①On Sept 7, 2023. famous Chinese archaeologist (考古学家) Fan Jinshi, 85, was awarded by UNESCO(联合国教科文组织) for her protection of the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang.

②Called the "daughter of Dunhuang", her story with the caves started in 1963. At that time, Fan finished her studies in Peking University and had the chance to work at the Mogao Caves.

③"Seeing Dunhuang for the first time was very exciting. But only when truly staying here did I realize that inside the caves is a world of divine (神圣的) beauty while outside is a land of blowing sand and yellow earth," Fan told Gansu Daily.

④Back in those days, it wasn't easy to work in Dunhuang. Fan and her coworkers had to live in mud houses and drink salty water. They stayed inside the caves to do research, copy murals (壁画), and do whatever they could to protect them.

⑤As time passed, Fan found a serious problem. The increasing number of tourists visiting

Dunhuang might harm (伤害) the caves. A solution needed to be found.

⑥In the late 1980s, Fan discovered computer technology by chance. She realized that this might preserve the Mogao Caves forever. After over 30 years, the Dunhuang Academy built a digital database (电子数据库) to protect cultural relics there, allowing Dunhuang's art to live forever and people to visit the Mogao Caves online.

⑦"In my whole life, I've only done one thing: protect the world cultural treasure of the Mogao Caves,"she told People's Daily. "My heart belongs to Dunhuang."
