I can't forget that day. It was a cold snowy morning. The {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(天空) was gray and dark. I got up early and went to a new school, which is the most {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(著名的) one in the foreign city. I was walking alone and worried about lots of things because it was the first time for me to stay {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(在国外).

It was early, so it was {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(寂静的) outside. Suddenly a girl who was riding her bike got into trouble. She fell off the bike and tried to get up. But she failed. Without thinking, I went over and {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(设法完成) to help her to stand up. She said" Thank you" with a smile and then {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(离开). Her words warmed me a lot.

Finally, I got to school. The teacher introduced me to the whole class. Then he asked me to sit {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(在······旁边) a girl. I felt so nervous. Soon the bell rang for the geography class. Their textbooks were different! Just when I wanted to ask the teacher for help, a geography book with a national {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(旗帜) on its cover was in front of me." Let's share," the friendly girl next to me said." Hi, I'm Carrie. I'm {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(加拿大人)." To my surprise, it was the girl that I helped this morning. Later on, we became good friends.

From that I learned: to help others is actually to help {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(我们自己). What life teaches us is not only knowledge but also experience.

Lao She was one of the greatest Chinese writers of the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} century. In 1913, his mother sent him to a teacher's school and he became a teacher. In 1924, he went to a college in London to teach Chinese. 5 years later, he {#blank#}2{#/blank#} to China. In his life, he wrote many plays,{#blank#}3{#/blank#} and short stories. In many of his works, he {#blank#}4{#/blank#} the lives of common people in China. He was named "the People's Artist". 

People built the Lao She Teahouse in Beijing according to (根据) his play Teahouse. You can enjoy the Beijing Opera, traditional music and magic shows there. It {#blank#}5{#/blank#}a warm welcome to everyone from all over the world. 

Jim Smith is a middle school student. And he lives in New York, the USA. He is very busy during a week. He stays at school from Monday to Friday. He usually gets up at 6:30 in the morning. Then he brushes his teeth. School begins at 7:40 a.m.. He has five classes in the morning and two classes in the afternoon. He often exercises, because he thinks it is good for his health. He runs on Tuesday and Thursday after school at about 5:00 p.m.. He takes a shower at 6:00 p.m.. He does his homework from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.. He watches TV for an hour. Then he goes to bed at 10:00 p.m.. He isn't free on weekends. He takes a piano lesson on Saturday morning. In the afternoon, he plays soccer with his friends. 

This year, I'm pushing myself to accept new things. Recently, I1 eating out alone. Asa socially anxious(焦虑的) person, I had always found this hard. 

I walked into the restaurant completely alone: no phone, no book, nothing to draw or write with. It was just me and my wallet. I took the time to read the menu 2 . I paid attention to how everything was made. I was still nervous and I thought to myself, "What better comfort food is there than a classic burger and fries?"

 The moments after I ordered were the 3 part of the experience. Waiting for my food with nothing to look at or read felt uncomfortable. I kept worrying about what other people were thinking. I 4 at everyone else in the restaurant and tried to calm down. 

 As I became more relaxed, I discovered ways to find 5 in the experience. In such a busy world, we seldom take a second for ourselves. Eating alone gave me a chance to enjoy ourselves. It pushes me to stop and be present in the moment. 

 People have told stories about Robin Hood for more than 700 years. Nobody knows if he was a real person or an invented character. In the legends(传说), Robin was quite smart and had a playful sense of humour. He loved playing jokes and tricks on people.

"Pick a card, any card!"

 The stories say that Robin Hood was a skilled archer(弓箭手) and he always carried a bow and arrow.

"Ha ha, too easy!"

 He wore green clothes and a hat with a green feather. He lived in Sherwood Forest with a group of outlaws(逃犯), known as his‘Happy Men'. The group included Friar Tuck, "Mmm. yummy!" Little John, who was unusually tall, "Little is just my nickname!", and Robin's true love, Maid Marian. "Take that!"

 Sherwood Forest was a royal(皇家的) hunting forest near Nottingham in England. Most people thought that forests were dangerous places to go. People travelling through the forests were often robbed by outlaws.

"Your money, please, my Lord!"

"Oh no, it's Robin Hood!"

 The stories say that Robin Hood only took money from rich people so that he could give it to people who needed it. So he became famous for‘robbing from the rich and giving to the poor'.

"Here you are, my dear."

"Oh, thank you, Robin!"

 The Sheriff(郡长) of Nottingham was Robin's arch-enemy. It was the sheriff's job to keep the woods safe and to make sure that nobody stole the king's deer.

"What's that? Is that Robin Hood?"

 The Sherlff of Nottingham tried to catch Robin Hood, but never succeeded.

"Oh no, not again!"

 Centuries ago people loved to tell each other stories of Robin Hood. Later he became a famous character in books, and nowadays Robin is still a well-loved hero in books, theatre, TV and films.
