Li Hua and Wang Tao are two students of Class 4, Grade 7. They both like sports. Li Hua is a basketball fan. His favorite sport is playing basketball. Yao Ming is his favorite basketball player. He wants to be a basketball player like Yao Ming when he grows up. Li Hua is on the school basketball team now. Every Friday afternoon, Li Hua plays basketball with his classmates after class.

An artist(画家) went to a beautiful part of the country for a holiday and stayed with a farmer. Every day he went out with his paints(颜料) and brushes (画笔) and painted till evening. When it got dark, he went back to the farm and had a good dinner before he went to bed.

At the end of his holiday, he wanted to pay the farmer, but the farmer said, "No, I don't want money. But give me one of your paintings(画作). What's money? In a week it will run out, but your painting will still be here."

The artist was very happy and thanked the farmer for saying such kind words about his paintings. The farmer smiled and answered,"It's not that. I have

a son in London. He wants to become an artist. When he comes home next month,I'll show him your painting, and he will not want to be an artist any more, I think."

A short video series called Escape from the British Museum(《逃出大英博物馆》) was quite a hit(成功). It tells a story of how a Chinese cultural relic(文物) ran away from the British Museum and found its way back to China.

In the short video series, a girl played the role of an ancient Chinese jade teapot(玉壶). She escaped from the British Museum and ended up in the street in London. She came across a young man there. He was a Chinese news reporter. She thought that the young man was her family, so she asked him to take her back to China.

Why did the two main characters decide to make the short video series? They saw someone's comment(评论) online and drew their inspiration(获得灵感) from the comment. Then, they went to the UK and spent months researching and preparing. It took them around three months to finish the video series. Although the video series is less than 30 minutes, it touched millions of Chinese people's hearts.

The short video series is not only fun but also educational. It tells us Chinese that it's time to bring the long-lost Chinese cultural relics home. China lost a lot of cultural relics overseas. There are more than 23,000 pieces of Chinese cultural relics in the British Museum. There is a long way to go to bring them home.

I moved here three years ago, and because of my business, I needed to fly both to China and the United States often. When I traveled alone, I felt lonely because I didn't speak English well. I made a decision that I had to learn English well.

I came to Rita Colina's class at the Chinese Community Center in Houston. Before the class, I always walked away when I met any foreigner. It's completely different now. I try to communicate with Americans in English by myself. Now I like to talk to foreigners. Not only the life becomes more flexible, but also I really love to live here.

I learn English in four ways:

First of all, I listen to what the teacher teaches in class. Then I keep speaking during the class.

Second, I do my homework right away when I get home. I memorize at least five vocabulary words every day.

Third, I listen to American radio stations, and I watch the TV news and other American programs with my family every day. I ask them whatever I don't know.

Finally, I go to American stores as often as possible so I will have more chances to learn more new words, and find any chance to talk to Americans in English.

Anyway, the most important thing is not to be afraid to open your mouth. It doesn't matter even though you speak incorrectly. It's the key, you know.

In her house, Zhang Rong, a mother of a first-year primary school boy, spends hours every day reading many children's books one by one and 1 dividing them into groups.

" When I studied in Philadelphia, secondhand bookstores8 everywhere.

More and more parents ask her for advice on choosing used picture books, so she knows about their needs. "English-language picture books are very popular10 parents in China because they can help children learn English, " Zhang said.
