Emma was very excited. Today was the baseball game! The winners would all get trophies (奖杯). Emma decided to bring home a trophy to put on her shelf. She had never won a trophy before. 

She put on her red uniform, picked up her gloves and said to herself, "I hope I get a hit today."

On the way to field, Emma felt nervous. 

"Are you feeling okay, Emma?" her mother asked.

"I really don't want to strike out," Emma said.

"Just keep your eye on the ball and don't feel afraid. You can do it," Emma's mother said.

Emma was a great hitter in practice, but she had never hit a ball during a game. She almost always struck out. 

When the game started, Emma cheered (喝彩) loudly for her friends. She caught a fly ball to make an out, and everyone cheered for her. Emma struck out when it was her turn to bat, but her team was doing well. 

The game was tied (平局) and it was her team's last chance. Frankie was up first, and he hit the ball hard to get on base. Next up was Henry, but he struck out. Kara hit the ball, but she was out at first base. Frankie was able to run to third. That meant he could score (得分) and win the game if the next teammate got a good hit.

Emma closed her eyes and swung hard for the first time, but missed. 

"Keep your eye on the ball, Emma!" her mother called from the stands.

Emma heard it. So this time she kept her eyes wide open as she swung the bat. Crack! Emma hit the ball and ran as fast as she could. She was safe, and Frankie ran home. They won! 

"Great game, everyone!" said Emma's coach later. "Here are your trophies."

Emma held her shiny trophy high in the air. She couldn't wait to put the new trophy on her shelf at home.

I: What are you doing here in Milan, Sadie?

S: I'm working. There is a big fashion show here.

I: Are you staying in a hotel?

S: No,I'm not. I'm staying with friends.

I: Are you having a good time in Milan?

S: Yes, I am. I'm enjoying it very much.

I: Now Sadie, tell the listeners, what are you wearing now?

S: I'm not wearing anything special! I'm just wearing jeans and a T-shirt.

I: Thank you, Sadie. It's nice to talk to you.

The train started moving. It was packed with people of all ages. Most of them were working men and women and young college boys and girls. Near the window sat an old man with his son, who looked about thirty years old. 

As the train moved, the son was filled with joy because he was very excited at the scenery(景色) outside. He said in a high voice, " See Dad, the green trees and the scenery are very beautiful!" It made the other people feel very strange. Everyone started talking in a low voice about the old man's son. Suddenly, it started raining. Raindrops fell on the travelers through the opened window. 

Seeing the rain, the old man's son said happily, " See Dad, how beautiful the rain is!" Hearing these words, a young lady became angry with the man, as the raindrops were dropping on her new clothes. She couldn't help shouting at the noisy son and his father. 

" Can't you see it is raining? You ! Old man! If your son is not feeling well, get him to a mental hospital (精神病院) quickly and please don't disturb(干扰) us any more!" The old man's face turned slightly red and then in a low voice, he replied, " We are on the way back from hospital. He was blind at birth. Only last week he can see again. The rain and the nature are new to him. Please forgive him. " All the other people became quiet. 

Ann lived in Paris with her parents, but her grandfather lived in a small town in the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} of America. It is a beautiful town with many green {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. Last summer, Ann visited her grandfather and had a trip in America. Nothing was more{#blank#}3{#/blank#} than that on that day, she went to one of the most famous {#blank#}4{#/blank#}to watch an NBA match. Her favorite team the LA Lakers {#blank#}5{#/blank#}the other team and she was really excited. But when the match was over, she {#blank#}6{#/blank#} the way back to the town. What was worse, she was so {#blank#}7{#/blank#} that she didn't take the right bus. When she noticed it, the bus got to its last stop－a small village in a mountain {#blank#}8{#/blank#}. People there couldn't understand her. It was {#blank#}9{#/blank#} dark and Ann was quite worried. Suddenly, she remembered there were things in her bag, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} the photo of her grandfather's town. She showed it to a man. Finally, the man took her to another bus. Two hours later, Ann got to her grandfather's town safely.

I have a good friend at school. Her name is Larry. Larry has many {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (健康的) habits. For {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(例子), he {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(几乎不) ever stays up late and he exercises a lot. He says doing sports is a great way to relax. Of all the sports, he likes swimming best. So he goes swimming three or four {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(次) a week. He often goes bike riding with friends on weekends. 

It was fine last Sunday, we {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(决定) to ride bikes to a farm. We {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(到达) at the farm early and had a picnic there. After that, we picked some oranges to take home. {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (虽然) we felt tired, we enjoyed ourselves. We have made a plan for next weekend. 

We will go to a {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(电影) together. We plan to go to the Town Cinema because their seats are the biggest and we can sit the most {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(舒适地). We will watch the new comedy. My favorite actress plays an important {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(角色) in it. I'm sure we will have a great time. 

A few years ago, I had a wonderful Christmas experience that finally changed how I celebrated the festival. Now I've decided to 1  it with all of you. 

Before that Christmas, I was running around like a crazy person to get 2  ready. One day I took my three little kids to the market to buy the last things for the next day. After walking and shopping for a long time, I was terribly 3  and kept thinking to myself, "What is the true 4  of Christmas?"

When I was walking towards the exit(出口) after I finished 5 , I noticed an old man sitting on the bench 6  an envelope in his hand. He handed something to a well-dressed, 7  man and said, "Merry Christmas!" It was a $20 bill. The young man was in great 8  and asked, "Are you serious?""Yes. Merry Christmas, " he replied. So the young man got the money and left 9 . 

"What's he doing?"I was more puzzled(困惑的) 10  I saw him giving more bills to some other shoppers. Just then he 11  and walked over to me. Then he pulled a $50 bill out of his envelope and handed it to me, saying "Merry Christmas!"

My face turned 12  and said, "Sir, I don't need fifty dollars. ""Well, then, " he smiled and said, "find someone who does. Merry Christmas!" And he left 13 . What a kind man he was and how many people he helped out that day! All of a sudden, for the 14  time I felt the real Christmas spirit. And I decided I'd spread his spirit and find someone who 15  that $50. From then on, I was used to teaching my kids about love and kindness and letting them feel the spirit of Christmas. Merry Christmas, everyone!
