Biomimicry borrows nature's design ideas and applies them to solve human difficulties. Nowadays a lot of companies started to invent in ways that are as elegant as what nature manages to do, and their designers and engineers began to sit with biologists to learn how nature would solve whatever it is they're trying to solve. 

 Some biologists worked with Nike company on apparel(服装）that would keep an athlete cool at the 2004 Summer Olympics. In a hot, dry place like Athens, what kind of organisms have to keep themselves cool and how do they do it? They found an African reed frog——a champion adapter in the heater—to study. 

If a company is making a solar cell , Biomimicry scientists will talk about how a leaf captures energy with their designers. Or if they're looking for some way to create an impact-resistant car, 

Biomimicry scientists will explain how woodpeckers can peck trees all day without harming themselves. 

Companies get the catalog of inspiration from the natural world and create things that sip energy, a city planner, an architect-should take one biology class in school. 

If you take a look at the octopus, you'll notice it moves fluidly and precisely but of course without motors or noisy fans or harmful fuel. The giraffe's vascular system allows it to pump blood up to its head and dip its head without getting dizzy. The humpback whale's flipper has scalloped edges to calm turbulence, and that's being mimicked in a new kind of wind turbine that can rotate in very low wind speeds because of its shape. There's even a new kind of pacemaker based on the heart of the whale. 

One famous biologist once said, 'In nature, failures are fossils. The organisms that are still with us are proven Companies that created a new product inspired by an organism have decided to donate a percentage of their proceeds to conserve the habitats of the organism. 

In ten years, you'll be able to visit ocean parks that have been preserved with the proceeds from a no-heat ceramic recipe based on the abalone's mother-of-pear!

Welcome to the Olympic Museum! Our museum is located in Lausanne, Switzerland, is the home to the world's largest and most comprehensive Olympic collection. This year, as the Olympic takes center stage, there is no better time to visit us. We offer a group tour project for students. Here's what you can expect from your visit:

1. Educational exploration: Learn about the history of the Olympic Games through objects, photos and videos. 

2. Special focus on Paris Olympics: Find out more about the 1900, 1924 and 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris. 

3. Interactive discussions: Take part in fun discussions with other students. These will be led by a museum educator. You will talk about the true meaning of the Olympic torch(火炬), the Paris 2024 mascots(吉祥物) and more. 

 According to a research more than 130 billion pounds of uneaten food go to waste in Laura's country each year. That is about 30% of the yearly food supply (供应). It is a sad fact especially when you consider how many families and homeless people are in hunger.

 When Laura saw her school dining hall throw away food that was not eaten at all every day, she came up with an idea. She started a project to help her school dining hall to give away uneaten food to homeless shelters (庇护所) in her community. In the past three years, the same project has spread to other schools and some fast food restaurants throughout the city. The project is called Feed& find, and has already fed thousands of people in her city.

 How does it work? Through an app, Feed& amp; Find matches local homeless shelters with school dining halls and restaurants that have uneaten food to provide. When dining halls or restaurants have uneaten food left, they can use the app to share the information about the food. A truck driver working for the project is then sent to pick it up and take it to a shelter.

 Pretty cool, right? It's not surprising that people in other cities have got in touch with Laura hoping that she could have developed similar projects for their communities.

 Some people, however, have concerns about the safety of the uneaten food. They think such food may not be clean enough. Still, this project is a clever way to help solve the problem of food waste and it helps those in need.
