William Shakespeare was a poet and a playwright in England. He has been a popular writer for more than four hundred years. People like his plays because the plays make people feel happy, sad, shocked, or scared. His stories are exciting, and they also make people think about great ideas such as good and evil (善与恶).

Shakespeare wrote 154 sonnets. A sonnet is a special type of poem with fourteen lines. His sonnets were mostly about love. One of his most famous sonnets began with the line, "Shall I compare thee* to a summer's day?"

Today, William Shakespeare is thought to be one of the greatest writers who ever lived. Shakespeare's plays are exciting and fun, and they also touch people. The characters in his plays show how difficult and beautiful life can be.

*The word "thee" is a word meaning "you", used when talking to only one person who is the object of the verb.

①As Daddy's only daughter, I realized what made my Daddy more wonderful than all the other fathers. I'd ever seen or heard of — his large hands. 

②Daddy had long smart fingers that could make lots of paper toys for me to play with. His hands could tie my hair beautifully. That's why I was proud when the other students talked about my hairstyle. I kept this a secret for years. His hands could paint a second- hand bike to look new . I got one on my tenth birthday. His hands could cook a delicious and colorful meal in minutes. I was always interested in watching his hands work. Even as I grew hungrier, I felt happy watching his hands. 

③Daddy's creative hands were also useful and hardworking. They could fly a kite high in the sky as well as to get it down from the top of a tree. They could wash my white dress clean, which became my favorite one. To my surprise, those hands raised(抚养) seven children after mom's death. It was his attitude that showed what he really was, far more than his abilities. 

④Not only were Daddy's hands capable(能干的), they could also send a message full of love. When I was sick, he made me feel better. He would take a small blanket(毯子), warm it up and cover it around my small cold feet with his loving hands. They seemed to understand my pain before I could cry. When I was stressed out, Daddy would often hand me a cup of hot milk and sat next to me. He would say, " The best is always to come, my dear. "

⑤The more I read Daddy's hands, the more stories I sense(感知) from them. Daddy's hands were perfect. They had the knowledge and power to move mountains. They made the impossible possible. 

Around the world more and more people are taking part in dangerous sports and activities. I would consider bungee jumping（蹦极）to be a good example of such an activity. You jump from a high place, 200 meters above the ground with an elastic（有弹性的）rope tied to your ankles. You fall at up to 150 kilometers an hour until the rope stops you from hitting the ground. It is said that about 2 million people around the world have now tried bungee jumping. Other activities which most people would say are as risky as bungee jumping include jumping from tall buildings and diving into the sea from the top of high cliffs（悬崖）. 

Why do people take part in such activities? Some psychologists suggest that it is because life in modern society has become safe and boring. 

Nowadays, according to many people, life offers little excitement. They live and work in comparatively safe conditions （条件）：They buy food in shops; and there are doctors and hospitals to look after them if they become ill. The answer for some of these people is to look for danger in activities such as bungee jumping. 

Times really change! When I heard that the Sunshine Bookstore was closing. I was so sad. The bookstore was in the neighborhood for about 50 years, and it was a great place where people could read the books they love. 

When I met Old Peter, the store's owner, he told me it was difficult to run a traditional (传统) bookstore. Most young people now would like to read e-books and more people bought books online. 

Childhood memories came back to me so clearly. A group of us kids often went to the stere. We looked at the new books, or just talked with Peter. We spent hours reading there. Peter encouraged us to share our ideas by writing them on a large board. 

A few months later, I was back and was surprised to see that the Sunshine Bookstore was still open for business. It was still old outside, but when I went into it, it was quite a different world. A book reading was going on. Nearby, some readers were sharing their ideas on a screen instead of the large board. Some were reading on computers. It even had a coffee shop selling nice food. Clearly, the Sunshine Bookstore was in good, creative hands.

Peter told me that there were more activities in the coffee shop such as book readings and even music shows and movie nights. The bookstore was turned into a place where the book lovers got together and shared ideas and experiences. 

"Well, as you can see, technology (科技) and creativity have brought my old bookstore into the 21^st century! I'm so glad to see that everything I wanted it to offer (提供) to the neighborhood is still here," said Peter. 

No matter how times change, there are always people who love reading. Traditional bookstores are also changing in a creative way. 

①There are many arguments(争论) for and against children owning pets. Pets help to keep children company, help to keep children fit, and they also help children to learn new responsibilities. However, pets can be dangerous. They require a lot of care, and they cost a lot of money to be taken care of properly.

②The first argument that supports pet ownership by children is that they are good company. When children come home from school, pets are always there to greet them. They love children and are always willing to play. As a result, children will be less likely to experience loneliness. They will also help to keep children active as they will need to be walked and played with every day.

③Secondly, owning a pet encourages children to learn new responsibilities. Pets need to be looked after and be taken care of every day. Children will learn different skills that they can use later in life. For example, washing and feeding pets are important skills to learn. Learning these responsibilities will ensure that children will be able to look after themselves, and possibly their children one day.

④▲ Some dogs, for example, may bite others, and children may become afraid of animals as a result of this happening to them. Cats also look very soft, but they do have very shar p claws(爪子). If they are treated in the wrong way, cats can use their claws to scratch. In addition, pets require a great deal of care. Many pets need to be regularly groomed, exercised and bathed. As a result of this, children may neglect their studies because they are to a busy worrying about their pet and its well- heing.

⑤A further argument against pet ownership is that pets are costly; buying food and maintaining their care is expensive. Finally, the cost of owning one falls on parents, and as a result, children don't fully understand the responsibility of having one.

⑥In short, there are many arguments for and against pet ownership. Pets help to keep children company, fit, and they also help them to learn new responsibilities. However, pets can be dangerous, they require a lot of care, and they cost a lot of money to be taken care of properly.

 Jackson Mann is 15 years old. He is the starter of the card game called"SOS: Save Our Species(物种)". He hopes that people can do something for endangered(濒危的) species after playing the game.

 In the game, players need to collect endangered species and match them with their right habitats(栖息地). The more endangered the species are, the more points players can get. The game finishes when there are no more cards. And the player with the most points wins the game.

 Jackson had the idea for the game on a family trip to Central America three years ago. "We saw lots of wildlife and played lots of card games," said Jackson. "I thought that it would be great if people could play cards and learn about endangered species at the same time."

 Jackson's card games began to sell from July 8,2022. So far, he has made over£11,700 to help save animals in danger.
