Every morning my father buys a newspaper on his way to work. Every evening my mother looks through magazines at home. And every night, I look at the posters with photos of David Beckham and Yao Ming on my bedroom wall before I go to sleep. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

    Paper was first created about 2, 000 years ago, and has been made from silk, cotton, bamboo, and, since the 19th century, from wood. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}But in those days, books could only be produced one at a time by hand. As a result, they were expensive and rare. And because there weren't many books, few people learned to read.

    {#blank#}3{#/blank#}When printing was developed greatly at the beginning of the 11th century, books could be produced more quickly and cheaply. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

    Today information can be received online, downloaded from the Internet rather than found in books, and information can be kept on CD-ROMs or machines such as MP3 players.

    Computers are already used in classrooms, and newspapers and magazines can already be read online. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}No, I don't think the poster about Yao Ming on my bedroom wall will ever be replaced by a two-metre-high computer!

Clouds change every second, bringing nature's{#blank#}1{#/blank#}to us But can you see it?

Cloud spotting, by its name, is just looking at clouds. Some people do cloud spotting to simply relax {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. Others do it to try and better understand clouds, from their {#blank#}3{#/blank#} to their names. Ji Yun, 36, is a cloud spotting expert in Beijing. 

In October 2013, Ji got a message from a friend, {#blank#}4{#/blank#}that some rare (稀有的) clouds were heading toward southeastern Beijing. Ji then bought tickets and went on a high-speed train to chase after them. 

"As soon as I got the information, I{#blank#}5{#/blank#}out of my home. After guessing where they were likely to head. I took a train to Tianjin. In the end, I {#blank#}6{#/blank#} in taking several wonderful pictures in the Wuqing district of Tianjin, "Ji said. The cloud took pictures of{#blank#}7{#/blank#}out to be one of the world's top 10 rarest clouds. 

This experience made Ji famous among the cloud spotters. He set up a WeChat group later that {#blank#}8{#/blank#}year to put people with similar hobbies together. They then set up chat groups in 2019 to cover different areas of China. Now, there are plenty of cloud spotting chat groups. Together, they became known as the Sky Enthusiasts Association(天空爱好者协会). Three years after the association was set up, cloud lovers collected every kind of cloud in the International Cloud Atlas. The International Cloud Atlas is a reference (查阅) book made by the World Meteorological （气象）Organization. 

"We created a book with all of these {#blank#}9{#/blank#} photos. And then we published （出版) it in late 2023, " Ji said. "This is a gift to all{#blank#}10{#/blank#}who love clouds. "

My father was busy fixing Belinda's spaceship all afternoon. In the evening, I went to the landing place. "Dear Father," I said politely. "Have you found Belinda's parents yet?"

"Not yet, my dear." He shook his head.

I felt relaxed. I didn't want to meet Belinda's parents—they might be ten times as loud and bossy as she was.

But Belinda had followed me.

"Not yet?" she shouted. "Why not? I'll send them a message! They'll listen to me!"

Belinda ran to the radio. She shouted into it so loudly that I had to cover all my four ears. "Mummy! Daddy! I'm on an awful spaceship full of purple people! Come and find me now!"

"Poor Belinda!" my sister came and said. "Her parents must be missing her."

"Huh!" I snorted (发出哼声). "Missing her? You're joking! Who would want such a bossy kid back? They probably lost her on purpose."

Belinda's face clouded. I thought she was going to shout again, but she didn't. Instead, something very strange happened — her eyes began to water!

"Oh, help!" said Roa. "Is she dying?"

I felt terrible. "Don't die, Belinda! I didn't mean it."

Then Belinda opened her mouth wide and shouted, "What if it's true? What if they've gone away and left me here forever?"

We were all so busy comforting Belinda that we didn't notice the soft knock of a ship landing outside. We didn't see two tall people come out of it until Belinda ran out in excitement.

"Mummy! Daddy!"

Belinda's parents were even uglier than she was, but they looked polite. "Hello, dear," the female said. "We're sorry we kept you waiting."

We smiled as the three of them boarded their spaceship. "Goodbye!" shouted Belinda. "Goodbye! Thanks for taking care of our baby girl!" said her father.

None of us answered. We waved (挥手) cheerfully as the ship took off and went far away into the stars.

Steve, a twelve-year-old boy, lives in a small town. He has a round face. He isn't tall or short. He is kind of thin. 

When Steve was one month old, his mom found he couldn't see anything. She took him to many hospitals, but it didn't help Steve much. After that, Steve's mom always told him what things around him were like. With his mom's help, Steve knew everything around him slowly.

It's not far from his home to school. It only takes him about ten minutes to walk to school. He likes all the subjects and studies hard. His teachers and classmates always help him. He doesn't go home for lunch. His mother always cooks his favorite food and takes it to school.

Steve likes playing the piano and he started to learn it two years ago. Now he is in a music club and he can play many songs. Every day, Steve plays the piano for his mom after school. He wants to be a great musician and play the piano for more people. "I know it is difficult for me to be a musician, but I will work hard for it. It will come true some day," said Steve.

It was snowy and dark on a New Year's Eve. Many people {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(get) together in their warm home at that moment. A poor little girl {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(walk) in the streets with no shoes. There were some matches (火柴) in her hand. 

"Matches! Matches!" the little girl cried in {#blank#}3{#/blank#} low voice. No one heard her while they {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(pass) by. The wind was blowing strongly and the snow{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(fall) down on her long hair. She felt cold and hungry. But she was afraid to go home without selling one box of matches,{#blank#}6{#/blank#} her father would blame (责备) her. 

"A burning (燃烧的) match may warm me up!" she thought. She lit two matches. But she still felt cold. Then she lit the {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(three) match. While the match was burning, a kind old woman {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(stand) there. 

"Grandmother!" cried the little girl. "Take me {#blank#}9{#/blank#} you." Her grandmother held the girl in her arms. On the morning of the New Year, the girl {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(lie) against the wall, dead. It's a sad story.
