When someone does an eyebrow flash (挑眉), you'll see their eyebrows raise lightly for less than 1/5 of a second. 

What it Means: The eyebrow raise is a great sign of interest. People usually use the eyebrow flash in three main ways: 

* The eyebrow flash can skillfully show interest, such as when agreeing to something or thanking someone. It often means "yes" during a conversation. 

* The eyebrow flash can also express interest in a loving way. 

* Or the eyebrow flash can show social interest, such as when two people meet each other. It shows the other person that you are happy to see them. 

Whenever we use the eyebrow flash, we attract people's attention to our face. Teachers and speakers often use it to say, "Listen to this!" or "Look at me!"

The Science: According to a study, the eyebrow flash is thought to be a form of greeting and can be found all over the world. It is said that this gesture is common across all cultures.

September 28th is Good Neighbor* Day. Do you want to be a good neighbor? And what can you do to make the neighborhood a great place? Remember, it's never too late if we start with some new habits.

Stop and talk. You can do one thing to be a good neighbor—stop and talk with your neighbor. Say hello, talk about the weather, or talk about their pet dogs.

Everyone can do this very easily.

Don't be noisy. It's OK for you to watch TV or listen to music at your home in the late evening. But you need to turn them down*. And if you don't live on the first floor, do not play basketball or dance in the house.

Be helpful. Good neighbors are always happy to help each other. If you are free, you can help the old in the neighborhood do some cleaning. If you are good at playing a ball game, you can teach some children in the neighborhood how to play it.

If you can follow these, you will be a good neighbor for sure.

In a recent small group activity in Mrs. Johnson's 9th-grade class, students came together to discuss how a growth mindset (思维模式) can greatly influence our life. Here are the opinions on developing a growth mindset shared by the students.

A new rubbish sorting system(垃圾分类系统) has been put into use in Fangchengyuan Community in Beijing. Local people not only sort their rubbish，but also put QR codes(二维码) on it. 

"When the rubbish is collected and the codes are seen，I will get reward points to exchange for small gifts and even some money，"one of the local people told reporters. "It's really creative and encouraging. "

This smart system has been carried out in 350 communities in Beijing. The capital of China has joined a list of cities in the country that take action to support rubbish sorting. For example，Shenzhen and Shanghai have made laws to punish people and organizations for not sorting rubbish correctly. 

China produces quite a lot of rubbish every year. Much of the rubbish is buried(填埋) in soil or burned without being sorted. Landfills take up a lot of land and have a risk of polluting the soil and water nearby. And burning rubbish can produce harmful gases. Through rubbish sorting，we can reduce the use of landfills and air pollution. 

What's more, rubbish sorting saves resources, which could bring economic benefits(经济利益). For example，a ton of waste paper can be reused to make about 850 kg of paper，saving 17 trees and 50 percent of water. Because of their benefits，some countries have developed successful sorting systems. 

Japan has a strict and detailed system. When people throw away a water bottle，the cap，the wrapper(包装纸) and the bottle itself have to go into three different bins. Every year，families receive special rubbish sorting timetables and directions from their local governments. They are advised to follow the timetables and directions when they throw away rubbish. 

In Australia，every family is provided with three rubbish bins—the red lid(盖子) bin for "general waste" like food and plastic bags，the yellow lid bin for "recycling" like steel and glass，and the green lid bin for "green waste" such as grass and leaves. On the streets，the bins are printed with pictures of the things that are allowed inside. It takes recycling quite easy.
