Linda and Lily are sisters. Linda is fourteen1old and Lily is eleven. They2in Beijing with their parents this year. They are3in Beijing, so they don't know much about it. They are students, but they are not in the same school. Linda's school is not near (在……附近) her home. How4is it from her home to school? It's about five kilometers. So she usually goes to school5bus. She walks to the bus stop near her home first. And then she6a bus to school.7usually takes her half an hour to get to school.

    Lily's school is8one kilometer from her home. She usually9her bike to school.10when she gets up early sometimes, she will walk to school. She likes walking in the fine weather (天气). When she goes to school by bike, it usually takes her ten minutes. When she walks, it always takes her twenty — five minutes.

    It was very cold, Amaya was warm in her house, thinking about an article she'd read at school. The article was about kids who 1 out their communities, and she thought it would be really cool to help her own town, Harvard.

    The only2 was that she wasn't sure how to help. In the article, the kids had grown food for people who needed food, but it was winter. She couldn't start a garden. Amaya was deep in thought when her mom said it was time to go shopping.

    As they drove along the road, Amaya saw a family wearing only light jackets. The cold wind blew 3 outside. How cold they must be! That gave her an idea! She could 4  winter coats, hats and gloves for people who needed them.

They also met with the headmaster during lunch time. He was excited about the idea, and said he would make sure copies (复印件) of the letter went home with all the students.

    They collected enough winter clothing in only one week. Then they left the clothes around two parks, so families who needed clothes could get them there. Three days later, Amaya and her mom went shopping again. She saw the same family that had given her the7for Hats in Harvard.  This time, though, the family wore some new coats, hats and gloves. Amaya felt 8 in her heart, and was very glad she could help others.

Yasmine is also raising money for cancer research. She said she was6 that money would go to cancer research, after the 7 of her grandmother from multiple(多种的) cancers.

"For my grandmother, the doctors didn't know what was8 the different cancers and how they were related (相关的), so I9 to get some money to help with cancer research. I've 10 raised $1,070."

Yasmine's hair was very 11 . She used to need an hour to 12 her hair, six hours to air-dry it and half an hour to make a ponytail. At that time, Yasmine was 13 for a baseball team.14 she loved her hair, she said it had affected (影响) her performance on the field.

Yasmine still misses her ponytail 15 time to time. But she knows what she did is meaningful and she is happy about it.

There was a tree in my garden. One day, two birds came to the tree and built a house for their 1 newborn babies.

One morning, I was getting up when I 2 the sound of the little birds. I ran out of my bedroom and found two babies eating food on the ground in the 3 I thought they dropped off their house, so I decided to help them get back to their house. At that time, the 4 bird and the mother bird came back. They brought some food for the third baby. They put it on the ground 5 their third baby. To get the food, she had to fly to it. Although she was 6 she was afraid of getting out of the house to eat it. To my 7 . her parents just stood there and did nothing.
