I have a new friend. Her name is Grace . She is 

Last month, we went for a school trip to a group of islands called Langkawi. It was exciting at first, but by the end of the day, I'd say it was a trip full of pain.

We got up early and jumped onto the boats. As the engine(引擎) of the boats worked, snow-white bubbles came out from below the boats, and the breezes (微风)touched our faces.

The first island we arrived at was called the Island of the Pregnant Maiden. We were allowed into the water for about half an hour, and I had fun playing with my classmates in the water. All was fine until one of my water shoes fell into the lake.

So I had to do the rest of the trip with only one shoe on.

When we first walked through the forest, I thought it was a nice walk. But with only one shoe, my foot came across either cold shards (玻璃碎片) or hot stones along the way. As the time went on, the land became increasingly jagged (凹凸不平的). I winced (皱起脸) with every step I took. But then something magical happened-I found a pretty seashell! I felt like I had found gold and all the pain was worth it.

The trip was a valuable experience-the beautiful sea views and the beach treasure hunt were wonderful moments for me. I've learnt an important lesson from that day, which is not to focus on the bad memories, but to remember the cheerful feelings and value them.

Dear parents, 

The school is planning a school trip for students in Grade 8. We are going to have an exciting activity in the mountains and the village there. Twelve teachers must be there to take care of the children. So don't worry about their safety. The kids will surely enjoy themselves together. Parents need to pay $18 for the trip. Let us know if you want your children to go before January 20th.

Do you know that vocabulary is more important than grammar? If you have good vocabulary, you can communicate successfully, even if your grammar is not completely perfect.

However, one common problem is leaning new words and then forgetting them. So, when you want to use a new word in a conversation, you can't remember it at that moment. Does this often happen to you? The reason for this difficulty is that most students try to learn vocabulary by studying word lists and dictionaries and remembering the words. But it may not work if you don't have a very good memory.

The best way to learn vocabulary and remember the words successfully is to learn new words and use them at once. You can do this with a very simple exercise. Each time you learn anew word, for example, from an English lesson or an article, write it down in your vocabulary notebook. Writing is more active than just reading a definition(释义). You should write the word, the definition in English or translation, one example sentence from the article or dictionary and one example sentence that you create.

Imagine you just learn the word "generous", write in your vocabulary notebook: generous(adjective), definition-giving or willing to give freely. Example One, from the article: Thanks for paying for my dinner, you're very generous. Example Two, my example: My brother is generous because he volunteers at the animal shelter on weekends. It's best if your example sentences are true to your life, because this creates a personal connection with the new word. The next day, read your vocabulary notebook again and try to add one more example sentence using the new word. It's helpful for you to remember it. These two simple steps-writing the word and using it at once-help you remember and use new words.

①Many great scientists are left-handed, like Isaac Newton. So, some people say left-handers are smarter than right-handers. Is this true? 

②Scientific studies show that left-handers have no higher IQ(智商)than right-handers. They are just good at different things.

③Left-handers and right-handers usually use different sides of their brains(大脑). Right-handers use the left side more often, which is usually associated(有相关的)with logical thinking, language, and maths. But left-handers use both sides more evenly(均衡地). 

④Left-handers are good at thinking creatively(创造性地)in anything from art to science. But it's not all good news for them. They may easily forget names and places.

⑤Overall, left-handers and right-handers have their own unique cognitive strengths(认知优势), and we should realize and respect these differences.
