Last week I went to the theatre. I had a very good seat. The play was very interesting. I did not enjoy it. A young man and a young woman were sitting behind me. They were talking loudly. l got very angry. I could not hear the actors. I turned round. I looked at the man and the woman angrily. They did not pay any attention. In the end, I could not bear it. I turned round again. "I can't hear a word!" I said angrily. 

"It's none of your business" the young man said rudely. "This is a private conversation!"

Recycling is not only good for the environment, but also gives something that seems not so valuable a change to be something else. Mateo Lange, a 15-year-old from Michigan, US, is bringing1 to the environment and his community through his weekend recycling efforts.

At 11 years old, while playing baseball, Lange2 his team needed money for competitions. He soon came up with a plan. In Michigan, cans and bottles can be3 and redeemed ( 兑 换 ) for money. The amount is 10 cents per item and is added as an extra fee at the time of buying to4 litter and protect the environment.

With the help of his 5 , Lange started a recycling program, raising $7,500 in just a few weeks. "We've raised so much money, 6 why not continue as long as we can?" he said. This success made him7 and encouraged to continue the project with his father.

In 2019, Michigan stopped its recycling program, leading to bottles and cans8 accumulating (堆积) in people's homes.

Lange's recycling9 offered a solution. With his father's help, they helped people get rid of their recyclables and 10 did pickups from people's homes. "I'd just run out, knock on the door and say, ‘I'm here to11 litter.' I'd catch the bags and pull them to the truck," Lange said.

Since 2020, Lange's recycling plan has raised $350,000 and helped over 50 local youth groups. Besides, it has prevented more than 2 million bottles and cans12 polluting Michigan's roadsides, lakes and rivers. "It has kept our community a lot13 ," Lange said.

In 2023, Lange received the Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes, recognizing14 environmental efforts and community impact. He believed the world would become a much better place.

Lange always said, "Be15 . Have an idea and build on it," Whenever he was asked about his cleanup achievements.

When Tim Carter finished high school, he started to deliver(送) pizzas. But soon he found that he didn't want to do it for the rest of his life. He thought about he saw his uncle welding(焊接) the parts of his car and was really interested in it. So he took a night class at a local school to see if welding was a job that he was going to stick to(坚持).

After studying for some time, he found it was. Tim learned more about welding there and then he wanted to learn everything about it. He decided to make welding his career(职业). But one night class wouldn't be enough. Tim went to a welding school for real practice. He was quite sure he would stick to the job.

For the past 18 years, Tim has been a skillful welder. He now works for the EEW Group. It is a welding company and also helps to give away most of the profits(收益) to environmental programs. A day for Tim includes a number of tasks and skills. "There are a lot to deal with(处理)," he told Time for Kids. "It's not just welding."

Tim's favorite part of being a welder is "making an honest living". He also feels fantastic about helping the environment. "I'm glad to stick to what I really want to do." he says. "I'm working for a company. The company is helping the country to go green, and it's meaningful for me to be a part of that."

Seven-year-old Maggie Kuznia loves books, but she loves sharing the stories she has read even more. Once or twice a week, the little girl visits the old people at Good Samaritan Society in Minnesota. By {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(offer) to read books to the old people living there, she has not only made progress in storytelling, but also made many new friends.

 How did Maggie get into the habit? {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(actual), Maggie's mom, Tiffany Kuznia, works at Good Samaritan Society. She usually takes Maggie {#blank#}3{#/blank#} her to work. On a snowy day, Maggie made a decision. She put some books instead of her game player into her bag. She announced in excitement that she was going to read to those old people.

 With time, Maggie has become so popular among the old people {#blank#}4{#/blank#} she even has"regulars(常客)" she reads to every week. She often stays with each one for {#blank#}5{#/blank#} hour. The old people are always willing to spend more time with her. She {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(see) as a granddaughter of their own.

 Maggie {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(do) the sweet work for nearly a year and now she is confident of her reading ability."She' s such a good little reader," said Patti Griggs, one of Maggie' s {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(listen). "I used to teach first-grade kids how to read. There weren't many children {#blank#}9{#/blank#} could read like her." Maggie says she will encourage other kids of her age {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(read) to the elderly.
