It's Sunday today. The students in Class One 1 to the zoo by bus. They are very happy to see the 2 there. At 9:00 a.m., they see some monkeys. Helen likes monkeys very much. 3 thinks they are very clever. Then, they go to see pandas. Pandas are black and white. They come 4 Sichuan, China. Lily thinks they 5 very cute. At 10:00 a.m., they visit the Elephant House. Elephants have long noses 6 big ears. Bill likes them a lot. He 7 they're very kind. The children see all 8 favorite animals. Then they have lunch in the zoo.

After lunch, they go to watch the Monkey Show. It is at 3:00 p.m. A monkey eats 9 apple on the chair. It's fun! One 10 later, they say goodbye to animals and go home. They have a happy day.

Once upon a time, a hippo(河马) lived river next to a big tree.

One day, a bird came and nested(筑巢) in the tree. The songs of the bird filled the hippo with so much envy(羡慕) that he couldn't think of anything else. Every day he would think why he wasn't born to be a bird even though the bird told him many times he was so lucky to be so big and such a good swimmer.

Finally, the hippo made up his mind that he would come out of the river, climb the tree, and art singing. However, when he tried to the tree, it was very clear that the hippo didn't have wings or claws to climb with.

Realizing that he would never climb up the tree, he angrily hit the tree until it came crashing to the ground, Then he stepped onto the leaves of the fallen tree, and began singing.

Unfortunately, hippos can't sing either. All that came from his mouth were terrible noise and when the other animals heard this came around to make fun of the hippo.

He was so ashamed of this. He also felt bad about having knocked the tree over. He used all his strength to raise the tree back up again, and looked after it until it completely recovered (康复).

Charles Lyell is a Scottish geologist. He was born into a wealthy family on 14 November 1797. His father, who was a scientist, kept the study well filled with books on every subject, including geology. Lyell was not a hard- working student at school, and he much preferred to have a walk in the New Forest. His first scientific hobby was collecting butterflies and insects, which he continued doing for many years. His observations(观察力) went far beyond those of other boys, and later this talent for collecting led to many important discoveries.

At the age of 19. Lyell entered Exeter College Oxford, where his interest in math and geology was developed. His interest in geology was encouraged by the wonderful lectures of William Buckland who was widely known for his effort to prove Noah's Flood by the studies of fossils. Lyell spent his long vacations travelling and making geological studies.

In 1827, Lyell started a full- time job in geology and began to plan a book which included natural explanations for geological things. He explored in Italy. Poor roads and hotels made his travel very difficult, but in the area around Mount Etna he finally confirmed his guess and got the answer he wanted.

Returning to London, he set to work immediately on his book, Principles of Geology, the first volume of which was published in July 1830. Charles Darwin once mentioned the book and said," Historians in the future will realize that the book has caused a revolution(革命) in the natural science." The book also had some influence on Charles Darwin's Theory of Evolution.

In 1848, Lyell was knighted for his scientific achievements. Lyell became more and more famous and he received many awards in his lifetime.

Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha Won the Mixed Doubles Championship at the Paris Olympics.

On July 30th, 2024, the table tennis mixed doubles final of the Paris Olympics was held with great excitement. Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha, known as the "Shatou" Pair （莎头组合） , faced the dark horse pair from North Korea, Lee Jeong-sik （林钟勋） and Kim Geum-yeong （申裕斌） .

{#blank#}1{#/blank#} Lee's forehand attack was sharp and Kim's backhand skills were also special, which was a big challenge（挑战） for the "Shatou" Pair. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Wang Chuqin's backhand flick was very powerful, and Sun Yingsha's advantages in the first three strokes（击球） were obvious.

The scores of both sides rose in turns and the game was very close. At the critical （关键的） moment, the "Shatou" Pair, with the deep understanding through long-term training, solid（坚固的） technical skills and strong psychological quality, dared to play and fight. Finally. with the scores of 11.6.7.11,11-8,11-5.7-11,11-8, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}.

This victory was not easy. It fully showed the fighting spirit and excellent skills of the "Shatou" Pair, and also won honor for the Chinese table tennis team at this Olympics. Their excellent performance makes Chinese people proud. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

One Saturday morning, Jeremy's mum had a bad cold and she wanted to stay in bed. 

"How can I help her?" Jeremy thought to himself. Then he got a good idea. Mum did    the    laundry on Saturdays. "Why don't I wash my own clothes this week?" He ran to his room to get his clothes. He put them into the washing machine(洗衣机). Finally, he closed the door and pressed the big button "START". After the washing was done, Jeremy took out the clothes. Everything seemed clean, and he felt very happy. Then he took a pink T-shirt out of the washing machine. 

Jeremy stopped. "____I don't have a pink T-shirt, " Jeremy said to himself. He reached into the washing machine to take out more clothes. There were more pink clothes! What happened?

The last thing was a bright red sock. When he picked it up, the sock turned his hand red. "The sock turns all of my white clothes pink, " Jeremy thought. He didn't mind having pink clothes. 

The next day, Jeremy wore his new pink T-shirt to breakfast. "Where did you get that T-shirt?" Mum asked. "It looks nice. " Jeremy smiled, "I made it yesterday when I washed the clothes. It was an accident(意外), but I like it. " "I like it too, " said Mum. And they began their breakfast. 

 Rudolph plays football for Florida State University. When he was visiting a middle school in Florida one Tuesday, he noticed sixth-grader Leo eating his lunch alone. Rudolph took a couple pieces of pizza and joined Leo at his table.

 Leo has autism, a condition that can make it hard to communicate with other people. His mother always worries about him. Two days later, she saw a picture of Rudolph and Leo eating together and it made her so happy that she cried. Then, she shared the picture on the Internet, along with a message about how thankful she was. The story became popular very quickly.

"We just had a great conversation. He started off telling me his name is Leo, telling me how much he loves Florida State. We went from there," said Rudolph. "It was really easy. He had a nice smile on his face. Just a really warm person."

 Leo's mother said that middle school can be hard, and she worries about how other kids will treat her son. "Sometimes I'm thankful for his autism. That may sound like a terrible thing to say, but in some ways I think—I hope— it protects him." she said.

"He doesn't seem to notice when people look at him when he flaps(拍打) his hands," she said. "He doesn't seem to notice that he doesn't get invited to birthday parties. And he doesn't seem to mind if he eats lunch alone."

 The mother said the photo of Rudolph and Leo's lunch date helped teach people about autism. "The picture speaks more than a thousand words. You can see how far away the rest of the students are, but you can see how engaged Rudolph is with Leo," she added.

"I just wanted to go say hi to the kid, because I saw him eating alone. I didn't even know anybody took a photo of it." Rudolph said he was glad that the story was helping others.

 Leo is excited that Rudolph signed his lunch box, and is enjoying all of the attention. "It's been awesome. Everyone was so proud of me," Leo said.
