Hi, I'm a middle school student. I'm Judy. In my class there are thirty-eight students. How do they go to school every day? Seventeen of them take the bus because they live far from the school. Six students walk. They think walking is good exercise. Fifteen students ride their bikes to school because they like riding bikes very much and their homes are not far from the school. No one goes to school by car. How do you go to school? Haha, I'm one of the fifteen.

When I moved to America in the 7th grade, I did not speak any English. I had no choice but to keep working hard. Although I made1 when I reached the 9th grade, people still found it difficult to understand me because of my accent (口音).

Recycling is not only good for the environment, but also gives something that seems not so valuable a change to be something else. Mateo Lange, a 15-year-old from Michigan, US, is bringing1 to the environment and his community through his weekend recycling efforts.

At 11 years old, while playing baseball, Lange2 his team needed money for competitions. He soon came up with a plan. In Michigan, cans and bottles can be3 and redeemed ( 兑 换 ) for money. The amount is 10 cents per item and is added as an extra fee at the time of buying to4 litter and protect the environment.

With the help of his 5 , Lange started a recycling program, raising $7,500 in just a few weeks. "We've raised so much money, 6 why not continue as long as we can?" he said. This success made him7 and encouraged to continue the project with his father.

In 2019, Michigan stopped its recycling program, leading to bottles and cans8 accumulating (堆积) in people's homes.

Lange's recycling9 offered a solution. With his father's help, they helped people get rid of their recyclables and 10 did pickups from people's homes. "I'd just run out, knock on the door and say, ‘I'm here to11 litter.' I'd catch the bags and pull them to the truck," Lange said.

Since 2020, Lange's recycling plan has raised $350,000 and helped over 50 local youth groups. Besides, it has prevented more than 2 million bottles and cans12 polluting Michigan's roadsides, lakes and rivers. "It has kept our community a lot13 ," Lange said.

In 2023, Lange received the Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes, recognizing14 environmental efforts and community impact. He believed the world would become a much better place.

Shaine Kilyun is an American girl. In her free time, she builds wheelchairs (轮椅) for 1 . So far, she has made wheelchairs for dogs, cats and a duck.

When Shaine was in the primary school, she began to 2 pets. She had a dog and two cats at home. She also helped at animal hospitals. But she was 3 to hear that some animals are often put to death (死) because they can't walk and need special care. "I can do something for them!" she thought.

In December, 2020, a video on the Internet gave her an 4 . In the video, dogs ran happily in wheelchairs. "I can 5 wheelchair making, too!" Shaine said to herself.

Then Shaine spent her free time watching videos and learning how to make wheelchairs for animals. She also learned from animal doctors. After she made the first one, she tested it on her 6 dog and cats. Shaine was so excited to receive her first order in February, 2021. It was for a 7-month-old dog called Cypress. Her front legs are shorter than the back ones. Shaine felt 7 happy when she saw Cypress run and play happily in her wheelchair.

Now Shaine can make wheelchairs of all sizes and 8 for different animals. Besides, her wheelchairs 9 less, so more animals can use them. Shaine said, "I really 10 to save animals with my wheelchairs in the future."

 Jeremy Gilley was a young British film-maker. For one day he wanted to stop all the wars in the world.

 What did he do? In 2007, an organization Peace One Day (POD) {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(创建) by him. At first no one wanted to listen, but Gilley didn't give up. He travelled {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(国外) and went to war areas, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(包括) the Middle East. He made a short film about his idea and showed it to world leaders. Finally, he won a large {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(数量) of support from many famous people. In2001, he won the support of the UN. They decided to make 21# September an International Day of Peace. It was a big {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(胜利) for Jeremy. He also wanted {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(传播) his message to ordinary people all over the world. On his journey he met thousands of varied people. He showed them his film and gave talks. People were {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(去世) in war areas because it's too dangerous for doctors and nurses to go there. So in 2012 the actor Jude Law went to Afghanistan and organized one of {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(极大的) polio vaccination(脊髓灰质炎疫苗) activities in the world for Peace Day. As a result, nurses gave vaccinations to 1.4 million children.
