What should you do if there's an earthquake（地震）at school？ How can you save yourself when you are caught in a stampede（踩踏）？March 25 this year provided you with something about safety（安全）. 

This day is called the National Day of Education on the Safety of Elementary and Middle School Students（NDESEMSS）（全国中小学生安全教育日）. The topic of the day this year is to help students learn more about safety and make sure their lives safe. A survey shows that school accidents kill more students than anything else. The main accidents come from stampedes, earthquakes, fires and sports injuries（伤害）. What can we do to keep ourselves safe？ Staying calm（冷静的）is the first and most important rule when facing accidents. But we have different advice on different accidents. 

A stampede is possible anywhere. The more people get together, the more likely stampedes are to come. When students around you begin to push, you should stand still and try to hold onto something, or stay in a corner until the crowd leaves. If you fall down in a moving crowd, cover your head with both hands. 

Earthquakes are common. When you feel the ground shake, drop down, take cover under a desk and hold on. You should stay indoors until the shaking stops. If you are outdoor, don't stay near buildings, trees or power lines. 

When there's a fire, follow the teachers' words, leave the classroom quickly and use a piece of cloth to cover your mouth and nose so that you don't breathe in smoke. 

When tea and coffee were first introduced to Europe in the 18th century, people had different ideas about their use. Some said that tea and coffee were harmful to humans and they could cause(引起) people to die.

In Sweden(瑞典), King Gustaf III decided to find out whether or not this was true. It happened that there were two brothers in prison at that time. They were twins and were almost alike in every way. They had both been sentenced to death(判处死刑). The King decided to let them live if one of the men agreed to drink several cups of tea each day and the other several cups of coffee.

Both brothers lived many years without problems of any kind. At last, the brother who had drunk tea every day died at the age of 83, the other died a few years later.

Because of the experiment, tea and coffee got accepted(接受) and became popular as drink in Swe-den, and it is one of the many countries of the world where much tea and coffee is drunk today.

In most parts of the world, many students help their schools make less pollution(污染). They join "Environment Clubs(环境俱乐部)". In an Environment Club, people work together to make our environment clean. Here are some things students often do.

●No-garbage(垃圾)lunches. How much do you throw away after lunch? Environment Clubs ask students to bring their lunches in bags that can be used again. Every week they will find the classes that make the least garbage and report them to the whole school!

●No-car day. On a no car day, nobody comes to school in a car, not the students and not the teachers! Cars give pollution to our air, so remember: walk, jump, bike or run. Use your legs! It's lots of fun !

●Turn off the water! Did you know that some toilets can waste 20~40 m³ of water an hour? In a year, that would fill a small river! In Environment Clubs, students mend(修理) some toilets.
       We love our environment. Let's work together to make it clean。

I am glad to share my ideas of self﹣management. 

Dear Lin Tao，

I am writing to you in English. I hope you can understand（懂）it. 

I love studying in London and I have many new friends. Most of them are my classmates. From Monday to Friday，we have English，math，physics and P. E. in the morning. I like English and physics，because they're interesting. I don't like math. It's too boring. At noon，I have to have lunch at school because my home is far from（远离）my school. We usually have two classes in the afternoon﹣art and politics. We finish our classes at 3 ：30 p. m. After school，my friends and I always play football on the playground. And then we go home by bus. 

On weekends，we have no classes. We often go to the park and sometimes we go to the movies in the evening. We see movies twice a month. I like some famous（著名的）actors like Jackie Chan.

 Typhoon Yagi(台风"摩羯") has grown into a super typhoon. It was the  11th typhoon of the year and {#blank#}1{#/blank#} damage to Wenchang, Hainan Province, with wind speeds near the center reaching over level 17.

 On October 7^th, the Typhoon Yagi brought heavy rainfall {#blank#}2{#/blank#} most of the island, while it rained {#blank#}3{#/blank#} in the northern part of the island than it did yesterday, and some cities and counties were lack of power and water.

 The officers in Hainan took {#blank#}4{#/blank#} to protect its citizens from danger. On Friday, everyone closed all windows and doors tightly. They stayed indoors and kept {#blank#}5{#/blank#} from glass windows. Citizens listened to the radio for updates. Safety first!
