One day, a boy finds a penguin at his door. The boy doesn't know where it comes from, but it begins to follow him everywhere. The penguin looks sad, and the boy thinks it must be lost. So the boy wants to help the penguin find its way home.

Later, he hears that penguins come from the South Pole*. So together, they carry everything they need during the journey to the South Pole. And the boy takes his rowboat to the sea. They row* south for many days and nights. To help pass the time, the boy keeps telling stories all the way. The penguin listens to everything that the boy says! Sometimes when they getbored, they do exercise together.

They float* through good and bad weather on the sea. Finally, they come to the South Pole. The boy is delighted, but the penguin says nothing. And it looks sad again as the boy helps it out of the boat. Then the boy says good—bye and floats away. When he looks back, the penguin is still there. But it looks sadder than ever.

After a while, he suddenly realises* the pengui n isn't lost. It is just lonely. Quickly he turns the boat around and rows back to the South Pole as fast as he can. He tries to find the penguin, but he can't . Sadly, the boy leaves for home. But then the boy sees something in the water ahead of him. It's the penguin! It is waiting for the boy.

At last, the boy and his friend go home together, talking of wonderful things all the way. The penguin is happy to enjoy those interesting stories again.

Sijo Zachariah comes from India and he works in Dubai. Last year, Zachariah returned to India for a wedding ( 婚礼). However, he got stuck ( 困住) there because of COVID-19.

'There was almost no food available in stores," he said. What's going to happen? How are we going to feed ourselves?" From that thought, Zachariah and his father started planting food on the land in front of their house. They took seeds (种子) from all of the fruit and vegetables they could find. Zachariah watched helpful videos online.

In the end, the land didn't just help the father and son. It helped feed people in 20 homes nearby. We also taught our neighbors how to plant. food," Zachariah said. Soon every home was planting food. The hot, wet weather made growing easy.

Zachariah once studied and worked in Wales. One thing he really liked there was the food. It tasted better than food at home. He found the reason the food there was fresh and local. So 'he only planted food that was from his hometown. He also recorded videos to teach others.

Now Zachariah is planning to change his job. He will stop fixing (修理) planes for living. He will plant food. "It' s a big change for me. But this is what makes me happy—helping others and being in nature," he said. 

We all enjoy the colors of autumn leaves．Did you ever wonder how and why a leaf changes color？Where do the yellows and oranges come from？To answer those questions，we first have to understand what leaves are and what they do．

Leaves are the world's food factories．Plants take water from the ground through their roots and take CO₂ from the air．Plants use sunlight to turn water and CO₂ into glucose（葡萄糖），a kind of sugar．Plants use it as food for energy and growing．

A chemical called "chlorophyll（叶绿素）" in the leaves gives plants their green color．As summer ends and autumn comes，the days get shorter and shorter，and trees "know" it's time to begin getting ready for winter．

During winter，there is not enough sunlight or water．Trees rest during this time and live on the food they store during the summer．They begin to shut down their foodmaking factories．As the green chlorophyll disappears from the leaves，we begin to see yellow and orange leaves．

The bright reds and purples we see in leaves are made mostly in autumn．In some trees，like maples（枫树），sunlight and the cool nights of autumn turn the glucose in the leaves into a red color．And we can enjoy the beautiful red leaves during autumn．

The popular TV programme, Touching China, was shown successfully on 3rd March 2022. We heard a name——Zhu Yanfu. His story moved everyone deeply. 

Zhu Yanfu was born in Zhangjiaquan village in Shandong Province in July 1933. When he was only 14 years old, he joined the army. Although he was young, he was not afraid to take part in wars. He lost his hands, his left eye and both legs below the knee during the Korean War in the 1950s. But he still said, "I don't regret what I have done to protect our country. "

In 1956, he chose to abandon the special care in the army nursing home and returned to his home town. He ever said, "I don't want to depend on our country to support me. I want to work for our country and serve its people. "

Zhu Yanfu was chosen as the secretary of the village's Party branch(村党支部书记) in 1957. He spent about 25 years developing the poor village. With his hard work, Zhangjiaquan became the first village to have electricity in the town in 1978. Now the people in his home town live a better life. 

Besides, Zhu Yanfu spent his money buying books for the reading room he set up in 1957. He later built an evening school which was the first school in the village. He understood that the best way to live a better life was by enriching people's minds. 

In order to pass on the revolutionary(革命的) tradition, he completed two autobiographical(自传体的) novels Extreme Life and A Man Without Regret during seven years. 

His story was widely reported from the 1990s and moved many people. Zhu Yanfu is a national hero who we should respect and learn from.
