Last year in early summer, I was walking up the hill to my house when I saw two birds, each about 60 centimeters tall, standing on the road. They didn't seem to 1  me until I was right in front of them and then they at once moved 2 into the trees.

I was quite excited by the idea of two 3 making a nest(鸟巢) in my front yard, although I didn't really expect them to 4 wild birds don't usually nest so close.

A few weeks later, the birds 5 again. I found them crouching (蹲伏) beside a tree. As I moved nearer to them, I 6 that they would run away like they did last time. But instead they stuck out their heads and made a threatening (威胁的) croaking sound. It seemed to warn me not to go any 7 .

I didn't know why they were croaking at me until a short time later I made an amazing 8 : they had two small baby birds.

As I moved quietly towards the birds, 9 not to make any sudden movements, they started their croaking again. They straightened their necks forward so they seemed 10 and more threatening. The mother looked at the babies, and 11 them well in her feather (羽毛).

Have you ever heard of the facechanging, or "bian lian" in Chinese? Facechanging started 300 years ago. Now it's popular in the southern part of China. It's an important part of Sichuan Opera. While the actors are performing, you can see different feelings and characters through their face masks(面具). It's said that ancient people painted their faces to drive away wild animals. Later, Sichuan Opera makes this ancient skill become its own part and turns it into an art.

In modern Sichuan Opera, many skills are used to change masks, and they have been passed down only within theatre families. In the beginning, opera actors changed the colors of their faces during shows by blowing into a bowl of red, black or gold powder(粉末). The powder would stick to their oiled skin quickly. In this way, actors could change their faces in just a few seconds.

In modern Sichuan Opera, actors wave their arms and turn their heads, and their painted masks are changed again and again. Full­face painted silk masks are often used by modern actors. They are so thin that actors can change about 10 masks in 20 seconds. Actors change their masks with a hand or by turning their heads.

No matter how many times the face­changing is shown in Sichuan Opera, you can find people lost in wonder every time. And don't be surprised when you see the facechanging of Sichuan Opera on the street of a foreign country. The traditional Chinese art is getting popular around the world.

I'm a middle school student. In the past. I was {#blank#}1{#/blank#}（害羞的）, so I had few friends. To make some changes, I decided to join the school sailing team. When I first got on the sailboat, I thought it was {#blank#}2{#/blank#}（令人愉快的）. But it was difficult to steer the boat, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}（尤其）for me. I felt really afraid. The boat kept shaking left and right. It didn't move forward. At that time I {#blank#}4{#/blank#} （理解）that many things were not as easy as I thought. 

In the beginning, I really wanted to give up. Mr Li was my {#blank#}5{#/blank#}（教练）. He taught well but I still often made {#blank#}6{#/blank#} （错误）. That made me sad. Luckily, my mother always encouraged me. She would always {#blank#}7{#/blank#}（建议）me to listen to Mr Li more carefully and try to remember the {#blank#}8{#/blank#} （句子）she said, "All things are difficult before they are easy!"

Then I kept training. Day by day, I could do better. Mr Li was {#blank#}9{#/blank#}（满意的）with my improvement. At the same time, training in the team gave me the {#blank#}10{#/blank#} （机会）to make friends with the teammates. I'm so glad that I joined the sailing team. 

At school, students learn some different subjects in the classroom. These days, a new subject becomes popular. That is school gardening(园艺). Students learn it outside the classroom. It is not only an interesting subject, but also a great way to keep healthy. 

In the gardening class, students can learn a lot. When some young students have food, they always ask, "Where does the rice come from?"    ▲     And they can learn to do things with their own hands. They can also learn some teamwork skills and care about nature , others and themselves! 

The school garden doesn't have to be very big. Students can have a lot of fun in it. At first, teachers decide what vegetables to grow. Then they grow them with students. Carrots and tomatoes are their favorites because it is nice for them to get a carrot or a tomato, wash it and eat it right in the garden. Some vegetables are easy to grow, but others need a long time. This can teach students hard work pays off( 功夫不负有心人). 

Gardening is an important subject. Students should learn it at school. 

My grandma is a kind woman. She is 65 years old. In her free time, she 1 making dumplings(饺子) for us.

On weekends, I often go over to my 2 house to have dumplings. Grandma welcomes me with a big smile 3 cooks dumplings for me. I eat 4 every time!

Sometimes I make dumplings with 5 , too. First, we get the ingredients(原料) ready.Then Grandma shows me 6 to make dumplings. It is not 7 easy job to make dumplings. Grandma tells me 8 dumplings with love.

Making dumplings with Grandma is not only about cooking, but also about love.
