At the end of year 2022, the Singaporean government announced that all drinks sold locally must use nutritional grade labels (营养等级标签) A, B, C, or D on their packaging, marking the percentage of sugar and saturated fat (饱和脂肪) in the drinks. So recently several Singaporean drink companies have already started to put these labels on every drink. In March, 2024 Shanghai, China did the same. The labels are from A to D. The more sugar and saturated fat a drink has, the less healthy the drink is. 

China is a nation of etiquette(礼仪). Chinese people are among the most hospitable people in the world. If foreigners visit a Chinese family, they would be surprised at the warmth that they would receive as guests(客人).

When you visit a Chinese family, the host usually makes tea for you. Then he will serve you snacks like biscuits or candy. Someone in the family will also talk with you, never letting you feel lonely.

At the same time, other family members will prepare a meal for you. Chinese people treat(款待) their guests with a big meal. They always prepare more food than the guests can eat. On the table, the guests must be the first to eat. One of the things that surprise Western guests most is that the Chinese host likes to pick food for visitors, which won't happen at Western tables. The Chinese family go out of their way to make you feel at home. As you finish eating, the host usually says," It seems that you didn't eat much. Please have more." Although you tell them you are full, they still put more food in your bowl.

Being warm and hospitable has long been an important part of Chinese culture and tradition. As Confucius(孔子) said thousands of years ago:

I was born in Pittsburgh, a city in the east of the US. With its over 400 1 , the city is sometimes called the "City of Bridges".

Pittsburgh is a big city with a 2 of about 2.3 million. About fifty years ago, there were many steel factories (钢厂) in the city, so people today still 3 it the "Steel City". Times were 4 after the factories closed, and streets were dirty in the past, but now the streets become very5 with modern theaters, shops, and restaurants on them.

Pittsburgh is surrounded (环绕) by hills where you can 6 great views of the city. Many artists, 7 Linda Barnicott and Andy Warhol, loved the beautiful views very much and made lots of great paintings. You can find them in the museums in the city. My favourite painting is Linda Barnicott's My Hometown.

I 8 from Pittsburgh to another city ten years ago but I often 9 now. I miss the people. They are funny and friendly, and I 10 the mountains to the east of the city. I also miss my favourite park, The Point. I often remember the good days when I played games with my friends there.

Everyone knows water is important to all living things. But do you know these interesting1 about water?

 Dancing is popular all over the world. People dance in theaters, in parks or in their own living rooms. But Yang Liu, a girl in Guizhou, dances in an unusual place. Her stage is a single bamboo pole(竿子). 

 Yang is a performer of bamboo drifting(独竹漂 ). It is a traditional skill in the girl's hometown. In the past, the local people crossed the rivers by riding on a bamboo pole. Now, bamboo drifting has developed into a folk sport. 

 Yang started to learn bamboo drifting at the age of seven. The bamboo pole is very wet and it never stops moving. Yang fell into the water again and again. But the girl didn't want to give up. She always got back up on the pole and tried again. She practised hard every day for three years. Finally, she was able to keep her balance(平衡) on the pole. 

 But Yang didn't just stop there. She wanted to live out her dream of becoming a dancer on a bamboo pole. The girl practised many difficult movements on the pole. She failed endless times, but she never stopped trying. Her hard work finally paid off. Now 26, Yang has made a name for herself as a dancer on a bamboo pole. People can't believe their eyes whenever they watch her shows. Through Yang's dances, many people now know about bamboo drifting. They have found the beauty of this traditional skill. 

Type in"A cat wants to go to the space" and ask the robot to write a bedtime story. Just one second later, you' ll get the story of a cat called Max. He goes through many difficulties to sing among the stars. 

This robot writer is called ChatGPT. US company OpenAI made it. It can talk with people, write songs, poems and even jokes. It's one of the most powerful(强大的)AI writers. 

ChatGPT can write things really fast. We may spend hours researching (研究) and writing an article. But ChatGPT can write a good one in seconds. It can help correct grammar and spelling mistakes, and make our writing better. It is also good for the researchers from non-English speaking countries if they need to write English papers. 

However, every coin has two sides. According to a study, 89 percent of US college students had used ChatGPT to write homework. So many schools ban (禁止) the robot. Students can't utilise it for homework. Thousands of scientific journals (期刊) also have banned writers from using ChatGPT. They worry that the wrong information it creates will become junk science. And the robot doesn't have any new or creative ideas.
