The name of the adapted work is the same as that of the 1992 classic martial arts film. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (wise), the Shaoxing Opera captures the interest of a younger audience by combining traditional Chinese opera with modern theater models and dramatic concepts. The audience sits very close to the performers, engaging with them and immersing themselves in {#blank#}4{#/blank#} unique and fascinating viewing experience.

Through her cross-dressed role Jia Ting, 31-year-old female performer Chen Lijun has suddenly risen to fame due to her gorgeous appearance, elegant air {#blank#}5{#/blank#} skillful performance. A livestream of the opera in August attracted millions of viewers and sparked heated discussions online,{#blank#}6{#/blank#} (earn) over 14,000 comments. Clips of her performances, such as a scene{#blank#}7{#/blank#} she effortlessly spins the landlady around with just one arm, went viral on various social media {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (platform).

The weather in Texas may have cooled since the recent extreme heat, but the temperature will be high at the State Board of Education meeting in Austin this month as officials debate how climate change is taught in Texas schools.

Pat Hardy, who agrees with the views of the energy department, is resisting proposed changes to science standards for pre-teen pupils. These would emphasize the significance of human activity in recent climate change and encourage discussion of reduction measures.

Most scientists and experts sharply argue against Hardy's views. "They casually view the career work of scholars and scientists as just another misguided opinion," says Dan Quinn, senior communications strategist at the Texas Freedom Network, a non-profit group that monitors public education. Such debates reflect fierce discussions across the US and around the world, as researchers, policymakers, teachers and students step up demands for a greater focus on teaching about the facts of climate change in schools.

A study, looking at how state public schools across the country address climate change in science classes, gave barely half of US states a grade B+ or higher. Among the 10 worst performers were some of the most populous states, including Texas, which was given the lowest grade (F) and has a huge influence because its textbooks are widely sold elsewhere.

Glenn Branch, the center's deputy director, cautions that setting state-level science standards is only one limited norm in a country that decentralizes (使分权)decisions to local school boards. Even if a state is considered a high performer in its science standards, "that does not mean it will be taught", he says.

Branch points out that, even if a growing number of official guidelines and textbooks reflect scientific consensus (共识) on climate change, unofficial educational materials that convey more biased(带有偏见的) perspectives are being distributed to teachers. They include materials sponsored by libertarian think-tanks(智库) and energy industry associations. 

Mountain torrent that killed 7, injured 8 at scenic spot in Sichuan stirs reaction

There was a tragic death of seven people, and an injury of eight others in a flash flood at a scenic spot in Sichuan province. The {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (safe) of tourists visiting unregulated scenic spots prone to flash flooding has become a matter of public issue.

At about 3:30 pm {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Saturday, a flash flood hit Longcao valley, a popular tourist spot in Longmenshan town, Chengdu. Several tourists were unable {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(escape) before the flood hit.

In the wake of the tragedy, tourists have been cautioned against visiting mountainous locations susceptible to flash flooding during the summer flood season.

"Mountain climates are very {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (complicate). There can often be heavy rain at the top of a mountain and clear weather below, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} can sometimes lead to flash floods or mudslides that people lower down the mountain are unaware of." Xie Hong, a researcher from the Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment of the Chinese Academy of Science said.

When it rains, slopes become prone to instability and to {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (disaster) such as flash floods, mudslides, rockslides, landslides. According to the villagers, {#blank#}7{#/blank#} flash flood hit within seconds in this accident.

Xie said that although the warnings are {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (clear) posted at such places, some people are quick to forget about such tragedies.

He suggested {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (teach) a better understanding of the way weather behaves in the mountains in schools so that awareness of potential danger is ingrained at a young age. He hopes that tragedies like this can {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (avoid) in the future.
