My name is Sam. I joined a club called" passing help" last month: Now let me tell you why I joined it.

    One evening this May, on my way home my-old car broken down. It was 25 miles from my home.

    I wanted to get a ride, but there was no car. It was also hard to take a taxi. I decided to take a bus home. I went to bus stop nearby.

    After a while, a bus came, but it did not go to my town. The bus driver was a young woman.

    She was kind and she told me which bus I should take. I waited there for about thirty minutes, but no bus came. At last a car came to me and a woman came out of the car. She was just the bus driver.

    "When I reached the bus station, I got to know that the bus to your town couldn't come, so I returned here. I just can't leave you here," she said, "Get in my car and I will take you back to your home," "It is a long way." I said." Come on, sir," she said," Let's go."

    On the way she told me a story. A few days ago, there wasn't .gas(汽油) in her car. An old man drove her up to a gas station and then back to her car.

    When we got to my home, I wanted to give her some money to thank her, but she didn't accept. "I only want to help others and do something nice for somebody. Pass it along. "She said.

Love is the most (最) important thing in the world (世界). We need love in. our life and the world also needs love to get better.

When I was a little girl, I thought that my father didn't love me. He let me do everything by myself. I was afraid of darkness (黑暗)，but he let me walk home alone. When I did well in my study, he only said," Be better. "I couldn't understand (明白) him. Where was his love?

But one day, I understood his love. It was a rainy day. School was over. At first I was not happy because I didn't have an umbrella.

But then I saw that my father with a big umbrella walking in the rain. He kept me away from the rain with the umbrella and we ran home together. He was all wet. On that day, I knew my father loved me very much. I understand what love is.

I'm Dick. I have a good friend. His 1 name is Liu. His given name is Yihong. He comes from Zhongshan. He is 15 2 old. He is a tall boy. He has a round face, a small nose and two big ears. His parents are 3 . They work on a farm in Hunan. So he 4 his grandmother and his little sister. He is 5 and he often helps others, so he has many friends. 

He can hardly (几乎不) see anything, but he goes to school and studies like other students. He loves 6 and music class is his favorite. He often sings for his 7 at school. On Sundays, some students go out to 8 games or watch TV at home, but he learns singing and playing the piano in the school music room. It's not 9 , but he doesn't give up (放弃). He will have a music 10 in the school hall next Sunday afternoon.

Jim has a nice farm. On the farm, he has many kinds of plants and animals. Look at the big trees. They are apple trees. Under the trees, there are some tomato plants and potato plants. The grass is green. You can see sheep, pigs, ducks, horses and chickens on the grass. Look at the black and white sheep. It is Jim's sister's. And the white horse is Jim's brother's. How many pigs can you see? Five? No, there is another pig behind the tree.

Tyler was a troublesome student. He sat in the back row. Every time I asked him to answer questions, he'd reply with a flip(轻率的) answer. If he got it wrong, he would get very angry. 

Usually kids could sit quietly in class. However, Tyler was just noisy. One day, Tyler was talking while I was teaching. I said to him, "Tyler, why not join in our discussion instead of having one of your own?" He got up from his chair, pushed it over, and shouted something I can't remember. I sent him to the office and he received a week's out-of-school punishment. 

The week was a wonderful time for me, but when it came to an end, I began to feel worried. So I came up with a plan. On the day of his return, I told him I wanted to start over with him. If he felt like he was going to lose control in class, he could step outside the door for a moment. 

From then on, Tyler was a changed student in my classroom. In fact he was a smart child and he even stopped a fight between two students one day. And he never used the privilege(特权) to leave the class for a moment. I believe that just letting him decide for himself made all the difference. 

When the year was over, he wrote me a thank-you note about how good the year had been for him. I still have it today and find it very moving to reread when I get worried about teaching. 

He was an old man who fished alone in a boat and he had gone eighty-four days now without taking a fish.In the first forty days a boy had been with him.But after forty days without a fish,the boy's parents had told him that the old man was now salao,which is the worst form of unlucky, and the boy had gone at their orders in another boat which caught three good fish the first week.

It made the boy sad to see the old man come in each day with his boat empty and he always went down to help him carry fishing tools.

The old man was thin with deep wrinkles(皱纹) in the back of his neck.His hands had the deep scars(伤疤) from dealing with heavy fish. But none of these scars were fresh.

Everything about him was old except his eyes and they were the same color as the sea and were cheerful and full of confidence.

"Santiago",the boy said to him as they climbed from the bank where the boat was pulled up."I could go with you again.We've made some money."

"No,"the old man said."You're with a lucky boat. Stay with them."

"But remember how you went eighty-seven days without a fish and then we caught big ones every day for three weeks."

"I remember,"the old man said."I know you did not want to leave me."

"It was papa who made me leave.I am a boy and I must do what he told me to.""I know. I quite understand that.""He hasn't much faith(信念)."

"No,"the old man said."But we have. Haven't we?"

"Yes,"the boy said."Can I offer you a beer on the Terrace and then we'll take the fishing tools home?"

"Why not?"the old man said."Between fishermen."

They sat on the Terrace. Many fishermen made fun of the old man and he was not angry. Some other older fishermen looked at him and were sad. But they didn't show it and they spoke politely about the sea,the weather and of what they had seen.
