Come to learn Swedish（瑞典语）. It seems challenging, but it could be easier if you are a good English speaker. The two languages have a lot more in common than you think.

The Swedish alphabet（字母表）is almost the same as the English alphabet , but has three more letters: A, Ä and Ö. Although some letters, like O and Ö look alike, they are actually different. Take the Swedish words "lov" and "löv" as an example. The word "lov" can refer to holidays while "löv" translates to "leaves".

Many words are close in Swedish and English. "Bok" in Swedish is only a one-letter change to "book", "äpple" is an easy change to "apple" and "man" and "piano" are the same in both languages. However, there are special suffixes（后缀）, such as "-en" and "-t", to stand for "the" in English. For example, "boken" in Swedish means "the book" in English.

Another similarity is the word order. It's often possible to directly translate sentences between the two languages. One big difference is that Swedish always puts the verb（动词）in the second place of a sentence. Although in English sentences, words like "always" or "hardly" often appear in the second place. Swedish is very strict about that verb-second rule and will put them after the verb.

There are many reasons that make Swedish hard, but with your English learning experience, you'll find it easier.

Chinese Tea

Chinese tea plays{#blank#}1{#/blank#}important role in people's daily life, both at home and abroad. Millions of people want{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(have) a cup of tea at the start of their morning.

China is the homeland of tea. It's one of the{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(big) tea producers in the world. It mainly{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(produce) six kinds of tea—green tea, black tea, Oolong tea, dark tea, white tea, and reprocessed tea.

Drinking tea first{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(become) popular in the Tang and Song Dynasties. According to the records, it probably started in the southwest of China. In Yunnan, there are still some wild tea trees that are over 1, 000 years old. They are{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(real) uncommon and valuable.

According to a Chinese legend (传说), tea was discovered 5, 000 years ago by Shen Nong. Shen Nong was the first Chinese herbal (草药) doctor. He was famous{#blank#}7{#/blank#}his work to help many{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(patient). He himself tasted lots of herbs. People could have safe medicine just because of{#blank#}9{#/blank#}he did. He discovered tea when he traveled to high mountains and collected{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(difference) plants. Thanks to him, one of the world's favorite drinks was invented.

Before the development of phones, the natives of the island of La Gomera were able to use a whistled language to communicate with each other from mountain peak to mountain peak. It is known as the Silbo Gomero.

Invented by the island's natives-Guanches, the Silbo Gomero was the only form that they used to communicate with others far away until the first half of the 20th century. During the 16^th century, it was taught to Spanish settlers. Then it spread to other neighbouring islands and was used by much more people.

The whistled language has a vocabulary of over 4,000 words. The difficulty of this language lies in the fact that it replaces the five vowels of Spanish language with two clearly different whistles and twenty-two consonants of it with other four different whistles. People can tell the differences of the whistles according to how high or low the sound is and whether they are interrupted or continued.

However, with the rise of modern communications, the special language was dying out, and by the later half of the 20th century very few people still knew how to whistle in this manner. Luckily, the local government has managed to reverse this situation, mainly through laws that make it a required subject in schools across the island of La Gomera. Gradually, it is developed and practised by a large number of people. In 2009, the Silbo Gomero was claimed to be an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

Nowadays, the Silbo Gomero is also used during festivals and ceremonies. To prevent it from disappearing, the native people continue to make great effort. Although there's not a special visitor center to appreciate the amazement of the whistled language, that is not to say it won't be one in the future.

You went to bed at 10:00 last night. But you woke up in the middle of the night, and{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(find) that you couldn't fall back asleep! It's 3:30 in the morning. Today is a busy day. After {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(get) up at 6:00 in the morning, you're unhappy and worried. Why can't you sleep {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(proper)?

There may be a surprising answer {#blank#}4{#/blank#} the question. Dr Thomas Wehr did a number of research {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(activity) on sleep. During the winter, some people {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(put) in a room with no artificial light (light from lamps, TVs or computers). Then he studied the people's sleep patterns(模式). 

What happened? The people didn't fall asleep right away. Most were awake for two hours. Next, they slept for a little {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(long), about four hours. Then they woke up, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} for one to three hours, they stayed awake. Finally, the people slept again for four to five hours. Dr Wehr discovered {#blank#}9{#/blank#} new sleep pattern. But maybe it's not new. In the past, before the electric light came out, perhaps people slept this way. 

So, next time you wake up in the middle of the night and can't sleep, relax {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(you)! Your pattern may be normal after all.

A library is a very good place. Libraries are here and there in the world.

 Our school has a new library. It's not big but clean and tidy. There are different kinds of books, magazines, dictionaries and CDs in it. The chairs and desks are nice and the teachers are kind to students. All the students in our school love reading in the library. There are three small reading rooms and two big reading rooms in the library. Every room has many books. Some are in Chinese, and others are in English. We can read and do our homework there. We often read with the help of our teachers because some books are difficult for us. My classmates and I are getting ready to read now. Reading books helps us a lot.
