It was a long hard fight, but by now it was 1and this helped us very much. We ran here and there in the trees, calling and2. The enemies could not see us and did not know how many of us they were 3In the end the first officer shouted to them：                                                  

“Put down your4and stop fighting! The captain has fifty island people to help him. We can kill you 5!”

     So the enemies 6 fighting and we took their guns. Three of the enemies7 to come to join us, but the others refused. So we 8them in my cave. I stayed to 9 the prisoners(犯人), while the captain and his men went back to fight for the ship.

     All night we listened to the 10of guns and shouting, but in the morning, when the sun  11, the captain was master of his ship again. I went down the shore(海岸) to meet him.

“My dear friend” he cried, “There's your12! I'll take you to the ends of the13in it!” I put my 14round him, and we laughed and cried together. How 15I was to leave the island.

    A Little Horse Crossing the River

    There is an old horse and a little horse on a farm. One day the old horse asks the little horse to send the wheat to the mill(磨坊）。The little horse is very happy. He carries the wheat and runs toward the mill. But there is a river in front of the little horse. He stops and doesn't know {#blank#}1{#/blank#} to do next. Just then Aunt Cow is passing by.

    The little horse {#blank#}2{#/blank#},”Aunt Cow, please tell me. Can I cross the river?”

Aunt Cow answers.” It's not deep, you can cross it.”

    When the little horse begins to cross the river, a little squirrel(松鼠）shouts to him,” Little horse, don't cross it, you will be drowned. Yesterday {#blank#}3{#/blank#} of my friends was drowned in this river.”

    The little horse is very {#blank#}4{#/blank#} .Finally he {#blank#}5{#/blank#} to go home and asks his mother.

    The old horse asks,”{#blank#}6{#/blank#} do you take the wheat back? What's wrong with you, my child?”

    The little horse answers sadly,” There is a river in front of me. Aunt Cow said it was not deep, but the little squirrel said it was deep. What shall I do?”

    The old horse says,” My child, you should try to cross the river by   7    . If you don't try, how do you know the river is deep or not.

    When I was twelve years old, my family lived next to a forest. Every evening, mockingbirds(知更鸟) would come and rest in the trees and sing. I enjoyed 1singing so much that I decided to catch a young bird. In this way, I 2 hear it sing for me every day.
