One day, Mr. Smith went to a dinner party. He was wearing very old clothes. He came into the room. But people in the room didn't look at him. They didn't ask him to sit at the table. He wasn't happy. But he said nothing.

    Mr. Smith went home quickly and put on （穿上） his best clothes. He went back to the party. Everyone in the room stood up and looked at him. They gave him good food to eat. Mr. Smith took off his coat, and put it on the food and said, “Eat, coat!” The other people were surprised and asked, “What are you doing? Why do you do that?”  Mr. Smith answered, “I am asking my coat to eat food. When I wore old clothes, you didn't look at me. You didn't ask me to sit down.

    Now I am wearing these nice clothes. And you give me good food. Now I see, you give the food to my coat, not to me.”

    "Colour, colour, colour!" are the words of the artist Eric Carle. Eric is like the king in the world of children's books. He has written over 70 children's books. His most famous book. The Very HungryCaterpillar, is common on children's bookshelves all over the world. What most people don't know is that Eric also makes art for adults, which is called "ArtArt". People didn't know about it, because he didn't show it to the public until he was 84 years old!

    Like Eric's children's books, his "ArtArt" is full of bright and clear colour. He says that he loves colour so much because he missed it during the war in Germany. Eric was born in New York in 1929, but moved to Germany with his family when he was 6. When he was 10, World War Ⅱ began. He noticed that all the houses and buildings in his town were painted grey, brown or dark green. It was a sad time, and it seemed like there was no colour anywhere.

    At the end of the war, "when colour came back", Eric explains, "I just loved it so much. I keep saying that I wish our eyes could see more colour. Colour is a very important part of my work."

    That's true. Eric paints bright colours on Paper, cuts out shapes, and then glues them onto another piece of paper. This method is called collage (拼贴画). In fact, it is what led Eric to his "ArtArt".

    Eric's "ArtArt" includes large collages as well as paintings, photographs and even costumes. In all these works, he uses all kinds of colours—everything from purple to light green to orange. Now that's a lot of colour!

"The Zoo", a popular rock group from Australia, will give their first U. S. concert this Saturday night, at 8, at Rose Hall, City College.

Theo works days, nights, and weekends in the tulip, fields in the Netherlands and never feels tired. How is this possible? Theo is an AI robot that looks fo sick flowers each spring. 

The work stops viruses（病毒）from spreading among the plants. The robot looks for troubled tulip bulbs（鳞茎） and kills them if necessary. They are removed （去除） from the healthy ones，in a processing center after the harvest. 

There are 45 robots like Theo working in the tulip fields of the Netherlands. Their job becomes important as the winter turns to spring and the busiest season nears. People come from around the world to see the colorful flowers. 

This is the second season that Allan Visser has used a robot. He said it is very costly-the same as sports car-about $200, 000. In the past, knowledgeable farmers would walk the fields looking for tulips that showed signs of sickness. "I prefer to have the robot because a sports car doesn't take out thesick tulips from our field, " he said "Yeah, it is expensive, but there are fewer and fewer people who can really see the sick tulips. 

Erik de Jong, the manager of the company that makes the robots, said all of the knowledge they use in the computer program comes from tulip farmers—farmers like Theo van der Vourt. He is the farmer after whom the robot is named. 

Van der Vourt retired（退休）after 52 years of looking for sick flowers in his fields. ＂It＇s fantastic＂he said, "It sees just as much as I see. "

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Van Gogh Museum, the museum has worked with the Pokemon Company to hold {#blank#}1{#/blank#} amazing event. They hope the event will help young people learn about Vincent van Gogh's art. The event started on September 28th and{#blank#}2{#/blank#} ( run) until December 7th, 2024. 

As one of {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (popular) places in Amsterdam, the Van Gogh Museum has a large {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (collect) of works by Vincent van Gogh, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (include) more than 200 paintings, almost 500 drawings and over 700 letters. Emilie Gordenker, General Director of the museum said, "This event will allow young people to get to know Vincent van Gogh's art and life story in a {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (complete) new way. We will use many years of educational experience to create a special experience for {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (child) and many others at the Van Gogh Museum. "

There are many activities across the museum during the event. Six paintings mix Pokemon characters into Van Gogh's paintings. For example, Pikachu {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (show) in a work that is inspired (启迪) by Van Gogh's Self-Portrait with Grey Felt Hat from 1887. Children over 6 years old can take part in an adventure activity{#blank#}9{#/blank#} (discover) the museum and the stories behind the paintings. {#blank#}10{#/blank#} Van Gogh lived in the distant past, visitors show deep interest in him.
