My friend and I entered a little coffee house and ordered two cups of coffee. While we were waiting, two young men came in and began to order, " 1 cups of coffee, please. Two of them for us and three there on the wall." The waiter served them with respect (尊敬). They paid for their order, took the two and left. As soon as they left, the waiter 2 put three pieces of paper on the wall. We saw this with great 3.

Some more people came. Two girls asked for one coffee each, paid and went away. Then came three lawyers who paid for seven coffees —three for 4 and four suspended(待用). It is Sunday today. Ann is shopping with her mother. She wants her mother to buy a new sweater for her. In a clothing shop, she finds an orange one. She tries it on (试穿). It is too small. She wants a bigger one, but the bigger ones are not orange. Ann doesn't like other colours. Her mother asks:" Shall we go to another shop to have a look? " So they go out of the shop and go into another one.

 The second shop is bigger than the first, and in it there are many kinds of sweaters of different sizes and colours. Ann tries on an orange one. It is too big. She tries a smaller one. It is OK.

"How much is it ?" Ann's mother asks the women who sells clothes. Then they find it too dear (贵), and they don't have so much money with them. 

"Would you like a cheaper one ? " The women asks.

" No, we shall take this one. My daughter likes it. We will come back to buy it tomorrow. " Ann's mother answers.

Travelling is not always happy, at least for the buddies in the movie Green Book. The popular film won Best Picture at the 91st Academy Awards on Feb. 25. 

The movie was adapted from the true story of a road trip through the southern US in the early 1960s. In the film, the black pianist Don Shirley hires Italian- American Tony Vallelonga to drive him to performances, but they face problems because of Shirley's skin colour. These problems lead them to form a special friendship. 

"There's something so deeply right about this movie, so true to the time," wrote US film critic Mick LaSalle. The time LaSalle is talking about was between late 1870s and 1960s, a very different period in US history. Many parts of the country had Jim Crow Laws (《吉姆·克劳法》) , which allowed racial segregation (种族隔离) . These laws made life and travel ____ for African- Americans. They couldn't use certain hotels, restaurants, or even gas stations. They had to be indoors after sunset or they might be put into prison. Even black celebrities (名人) had to follow the laws. 

But in 1936, a black mail carrier named Victor H. Green had an idea. He made a list of friendly businesses in New York City. He published the list as a small book with a green cover. The Green Book helped African- Americans travel more safely. Then, in 1964, Jim Crow Lawswent away. The book went away, too. 

Today many US people still remember the time of Jim Crow. But they probably don't know about the Green Book. It's a forgotten part of the story. Thanks to this movie, maybe people can remember it again.
