The holiday season isn't about shopping and gifts. However, holiday travel can be more expensive than gifts. Fortunately, the following tips will help keep your travel spending under control.

Plan ahead. The earlier you book your travel, from airfare to hotels, the easier it is to find good deals. Your best prices on airfare come when you book three weeks before the plane leaves for domestic(国内的) flights. For international flights, consider booking 30 days in advance. Many experts point out that you should book travel between one month and three months out for high-traffic holidays.

Book your air travel on cheaper days. Traveling by air on Tuesdays and Wednesdays often costs less than on Fridays and Sundays. During the holidays, it's not just about a specific day of the week. You also need to consider the days surrounding the holiday but days immediately before and after a holiday can be expensive. One of the best ways to save is to plan your air travel on the day of the holiday.

Consider traveling overnight. Red-eye flights and overnight flights often cost less than those at more convenient times.  Traveling overnight can help you avoid a night in the hotel, as well as save your money on travel to your destination.

You can't bring liquids with you on the airline, but you can bring sandwiches and other snacks. When you're on the road, you can buy food at local groceries to make your own meals, especially if you have access to(可使用) a microwave.

A. Bring your own food.

B. Consider affordable accommodations.

C. Traveling by plane is not the best choice.

D. Plus, booking earlier can save your money.

E. For instance, traveling on Christmas Day might be a great deal.

F. A great deal of travel also takes place during this time of year.

G. Other choices include sleeper trains as well as overnight ferries.

When people have a choice of whom to work with, likability can sometimes matter a little bit; more than ability, said Tiziana Casciaro, an associate professor at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management, who researches likability in the workplace{#blank#}1{#/blank#} . These strategies can help:

    {#blank#}2{#/blank#}

You can induce a sense of similarity with almost anybody by finding things you have in common. They may not be apparent right away, so be observant. Great salespeople do this all the time by studying potential customers for bits and pieces of their lives they can relate to.

Like someone and they'll like you right back

{#blank#}3{#/blank#} Flattery (奉承)can convey fondness, but she doesn't recommend using the fake kind, even though it may work. Casciaro said, u Flattery' that is completely made up is exhausting and morally blameworthy. Instead, let a praise come from a real place{#blank#}4{#/blank#} For instance,I really appreciate what you did yesterday.

When you give people praises, it goes a very long way towards their liking you back.

    Be a familiar presence

Humans like things that are familiar, so just seeing you around in person makes you more likable to others. “This concept gives a whole new meaning to the idea of face time,” Casciaro said{#blank#}5{#/blank#} If not, just try to talk to people as much as possible in person during work hours, she advised You want to maximize rich interactions and cut down on the drier ones, like texts and phone calls. Be sure to be seen.

Given that it's so easy to take up the sport, a lot of beginners jump right into running without actually knowing what it takes to establish a healthy routine.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}. If you are just starting out, avoid the following things to help you increase your chances of running success.

    Doing too much too soon

One of the biggest mistakes beginners make is doing too much too soon. Picking up a new hobby like running is no doubt exciting. Runners need to ease into the sport before increasing the distance.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}.

When high temperatures are around the country, some things also go up. Here are four things expected to rise along with our desire to stay indoors and beat the heat.

⒈ales of goods that keep you cool

    ⒉{#blank#}2{#/blank#}

    ⒋Violence

Heat waves may cause violence, right? "Not necessarily," says Richard

Larrick, a researcher. He took a unique look at the relationship between violence and heat through baseball. Larrick and his research team examined 57,294 Major League Baseball games taking place between 1962 and 2017 and found that while heat may increase violence, there always has to be a motive."{#blank#}5{#/blank#} Instead, heat affects a specific form of violence," he said.

To an outsider, any culture can seem confusing. And the UK's got a thing or two that raises a few eyebrows. However, understand the why and things might be less puzzling. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}.

In a world where 61%of nations drive on the right, Brits drive on the left. Why? Most people think it goes back to Medieval, maybe even Roman times. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} when you remember that right-handed people wear a sword on their left hip. Travelling on the left allowed you to keep your weapon arm toward your opponent, who would be on your right. This practice continued until the 18th century when a law was passed requiring all traffic crossing London Bridge to keep to the left.

Visitors to the UK that have just washed their hands in an old-fashioned sink might be wondering why one tap is only for hot water, the other cold. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. So, why this oddity? It relates to a time when hot and cold water were kept separate to prevent pollution. Drinkable cold water came from a mains supply, but hot water came from attic tanks and was not considered suitable for consumption. So they were kept apart.

Millions of people drink tea worldwide, but the odd Brits put milk in theirs. Why? This mysterious practice relates to the quality of china cup used in the 18th century when tea was first imposed. For the majority of Brits, the cups available couldn't stand the heat of the boiling water and would break, so milk was added first. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. And this practical tweak soon became a national habit.

{#blank#}5{#/blank#}. As you can see, these odd Brits have perfectly clear reasons for left-hand driving, two-tap sinks and tea with milk. Even if they still seem strange, at least now you're in the know.

A. This makes it difficult to improve

B. There is a method to the madness

C. This unusual behavior makes sense

D. You can know the origins of the practices

E. Either can make washing very uncomfortable

F. This cooled the cup enough to resist the boiling water

G. Here are the reasons for three of Britain's more puzzling practices
