After a serious earthquake happened, a father left his wife safely at home and rushed to his son's school, only to find that the building where his son studied had collapsed and looked like a pancake (煎饼).

    He was shocked. He didn't know what he should do for a while, then he remembered the words he had said to his son, "No matter what, I'll always be there for you!" And tears began to fill his eyes. He started digging through the ruins (废墟).

    As he was digging, other helpless(无助的) parents and the firemen arrived and tried to pull him off the ruins, saying, "It's too late! They are all dead! There's nothing you can do!" To them he replied with one line, "Are you going to help me now?" And then he kept on digging.

    No one helped, however. He went on along because he needed to know for himself, "Is my boy alive or is he dead?" He dug for eight hours. 12 hours. 36 hours. Then, in the 39th hour, he pulled back a rock and heard his son's words. He shouted his son's name, "ARMAND!" He heard back, "Dad?! It's me, Dad! I told the other kids not to worry. I told them that if you were alive, you'd save me and when you saved me, they'd be saved. You promised, 'No matter what happens, I'll always be there for you! 'You did it, Dad! "

    "What's going on there?  How is it?" the father asked.

    "There are 14 of us left out of 33, Dad. We're frightened, hungry, thirsty and thankful you're here. When the building fell down, it made a triangle (三角形), and it saved us. "

    "Come out, Boy!"

Do you love math? Recently, our school held a three-day math festival. Fun {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(活动) helped students fall in love with math!

On the first day, students put on plays and we watched some of them. My favorite play was about Hua Luogeng, a Chinese mathematician (数学家). Three students played Hua at three {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(不同的) ages. They let us know about his amazing life and his love for math.

The {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (第二) day was the most interesting. Some students made rocket models with plastic bottles and launched them on the playground. They said making them was a challenge, but they {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (最终) succeeded. The most {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(成功的) one flew as high as the second floor of the teaching building.

The school {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(邀请) some college students on the third day. They {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(展示) us some advanced equipment (先 进 的装备) and did experiments with us. For example, we made a small water-cleaning system (系统).It {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (转向) dirty water into clean water! After finishing the experiment, I felt the magic of {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (科学).

The festival ended with a math teacher's {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(演讲). With such a successful event, students are already looking forward to next year's festival!

I'll always remember the first time I tried ballet(芭蕾). My mother was a dancer and I wanted to be like her, but after making many mistakes during my first class, I felt like I wanted to give up right away. Because it was only my first day, I told my mom I couldn't wait to dance again.

Several weeks passed and my dancing didn't get any better. Then my dance teacher told us that we were going to perform in a show. I was afraid of falling on my face in front of hundreds of people and made my mom sad.

I practiced hard for the show, but I still didn't get the hang of it. Finally, I went to my mom to tell her how I felt. She just laughed and told me she would tea ch me all she knew about ballet. My mom quickly found out how bad at ballet I was, but she still taught me with the greatest patience, love and understanding. When I jumped and fell, she was there to catch me. When I lost my balance, she held me up. By the time the show arrived, I was as prepared as I could be.

The music began and my heart started to beat quickly. Breathing calmly, I began moving to the music without missing a step. When the music stopped, I ran off the stage and laughed with excitement.

My mom found me and gave me a huge hug, telling me how proud she was. I looked my mom in the eye and told her that there was no way this could have happened without her. Through this, I knew one important fact: My mom will always be there to catch me if I fall.

Sam had to take care of his little sister Julie by himself. Their parents passed away long ago. 

One day, Sam woke up1 three in the morning as usual. When Julie was sleeping alone, Sam went out 2 newspapers. When he found an old man sitting in front of their house, Sam was so surprised that he stopped to look at him closely. It was 3 icy morning and he looked very cold. 

The poor old man didn't have anything to cover4 body with. Sam went into his house to get the old man a blanket(毯子). However, there were no extra blankets, so Sam thought hard and took his 5 coat. Sam wrote a short note. "Sir, I found you sleeping in front of my house. This is an old coat of my dad's. I hope it fits you well. " 6 then he left. When he came back, both the man and the coat were gone. Sam thought that it was 7 thing he could do with his dad's coat. 

That afternoon when Sam got home, Julie and the old man8 in front of the house, and Julie shouted to Sam9 ，"Brother！He's our grandfather！"The grandfather smiled and said, "Sam，thank you for giving me the coat and letting me know 10 good my grandson is. "
