    I was reading an article in a book while I came across a word I didn't know. “Dad, what is the meaning of the word?” My dad, as he usual did after work, was watching his most favorite show. “You have the dictionary, don't you?” he shot back.     A young couple bought a big house from two sisters, whom had lived there for 30 years. The house was nice and the couple bought it at low price.

    However, winter wasn't far away at the time. The couple was a little bit worrying about how they would keep the house warm, since it didn't have any fireplaces. And later, they thought that if the sisters were able to stay warm and comfortably in the house during the winter, so could they. With that in mind, they decided not to make any preparations for the cold weather.

    Winter arrived and temperatures soon drops below zero. The large house became freezing cold, with frost（霜）covered the walls. Finally, the husband couldn't bear with it anymore. She called the sisters to ask them how they managed to keep warm during the winter. “The cold weather never bothered us,” one of the sister told the husband. “We just went on vacation to Thailand every winter.”

    I do well in school, so people think I am smart. And it's not true. In fact, three year ago I struggled in Grade 9. Later, I decide to get serious about school, so I made a few changes. First, I decided I would become interesting in whatever was being taught, regardless of that what other people thought. I also made up my mind to work hardly every day. After carry out these changes, I became active participant in classroom discussions. Then my test scores began to rise. How exciting!     I went to the seaside to spending my summer holiday with my family. We stayed there for two week. The weather was much hotter than in my hometown, but I got used to it or felt at home. Every morning, I got up early than my parents and went for breakfast ahead of the time. Then I went to have a chat with my new friend, John, whom I happen to come across during my holiday. John was a native and quite warm-heartedly man and he was familiar to the seaside well. Soon we became very good friends. Since we parted, we have kept write to each other.

    As a senior three student, it won't take long after I graduate. Now, I have many to share with my fellow students.

    Firstly, I'd like to show my appreciation to those who stand by me all the way, teachers, parents and friends including. Without their help or advice, my life will be different. Secondly, it's high time for I to say sorry to the classmates whom I hurt or misunderstood. I firm believe that communication and smiles act as bridges to friendship. Thirdly, I've made my mind to make every effort to study, for hard work is the key to a success. Finally I want to express my hope that all the young fellow can make full use of time, because time and tide waited for no man.

    When first learning to ride a bicycle, I decided to go to my friend's houses for a game of badminton.

    On my way there, however, I chased by a fierce dog. I cycled as fast as I could so it jumped at me and caught my leg. I shouted and unlucky fell off my bicycle, that injured my knees. Nervously, I managed to get on the bike. Much to my relief, the dog eventually gave in chasing me. But by then I was too tired to play the badminton. After a short rest at my friend's house, I leave for home, taking other route this time. Finally, I reached home, feel exhausted after the evening's adventure.
