Debbie is a very busy woman. She has ten children. Every morning she wakes up at 6: 00. The older children get up at 6: 30 and the younger children get up an hour later. After the older children leave for school at 8: 00, Debbie spends most of the day at home with her babies, cooking and cleaning. She doesn't have time to go out to work, but she doesn't mind. Debbie's husband Bob works in a bank. He doesn't enjoy it, but he makes lots of money. Debbie spends most of it on food and clothes for the children.

    Debbie likes the evening best. After dinner, she sits down in the living room and tells the children stories before they go to bed. She doesn't read from a book. She reads her own stories. Once the children are asleep, Debbie can relax. But she doesn't sit and watch TV with Bob. She writes stories in a notebook.

    Bob sent one of Debbies' stories to a competition and it won. The organizer of the competition said Debbie should become a writer, but Debbie wasn't sure. However, the children thought it was a great idea, so she decided to try. The children like elephants best, so Debbie wrote a story about them. One book company (公司) loved it and published (出版) it. People can now buy her book in shops.

When I was looking for a Christmas present for my daughter in a toy store, a nicely dressed little girl, with some money in her little hand, was looking at some beautiful {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. When she saw a doll she liked, she would ask her father {#blank#}2{#/blank#} she had enough money. He usually said yes.

At the same time, a {#blank#}3{#/blank#}, with old and small clothes, was looking at some computer games. He, too, had money in his hand, but it looked no more than five dollars. Each time he picked up one of the computer games and looked at his father, the father shook his head.

The little girl had {#blank#}4{#/blank#} a very beautiful doll. However, she noticed the boy and his father. She saw the boy {#blank#}5{#/blank#} a computer game with disappointment(失望) and walk to another corner of the store.

It was a lovely 1 afternoon. My classmates and I were playing happily on the playground when I let out a 2 , "OW! OW! Something in my shoe is biting me."

Everyone was shocked by the cry. They took me into a classroom and3 take off my shoe. "Which foot is it?" one asked. "Let us have a look."

Suddenly, I remembered the holes in my socks. My family was very poor during those years. I wore welfare socks, which 4 only a little, but those cheap welfare socks didn't 5 long. Soon there were holes at the bottom. 

I refused to take off my shoe. I couldn't 6 others seeing the holes in my sock. I tried to7 my tears. Yet, each time the thing in my shoe bit me, tears raced down my face. 

My teacher, Miss Diane, hurried into the 8 . "What's wrong?" she asked. 

"Something is biting her right foot,9 she doesn't let us take off her shoe," one of my classmates answered. 

Miss Diane lived next door to me. She knew 10 about my family. She put both hands on my shaking shoulders and looked into my painful and hopeless eyes. 

"Oh, yes, it must be a sock-eating ant," she said,11 she had already seen the thing inside the shoe. "I had a bite from one of those ants. By the time I took my shoe off, it had eaten 12 the whole bottom of my sock." My classmates nodded while they were listening to the teacher 13 , although they all looked a little puzzled. 

Miss Diane took off my right shoe and sock and shoot them over the dustbin. Two red ants 14 into it. 

"Just like what I thought, the ants have eaten part of her sock." When she placed an alcohol (酒精) cotton ball on the bites, she added, "You are such a brave girl to take so many bites."

The alcohol made me feet cool on the hot afternoon and a little girl's 15 was saved by the "sock–eating ant" story.

Everyone is good at something, but some people are truly talented. Last week we had an {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (interest) talent show in our school. There were many wonderful{#blank#}2{#/blank#} (performer) from different classes and even some teachers in that show.

Most of the students thought the best performer was Eliza, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} she played the piano the most beautifully and she is an excellent piano player. Who was the {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (funny)? Of course Steve was. You could see that he and his dog sang the song together and everyone couldn't stop laughing. Do you want {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (know) the most creative one? It must be Vera. She {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (play) the guitar upside down. The most popular actors were the math teachers in the show. They had many kinds {#blank#}7{#/blank#} instruments (乐器) and they were the loudest of all. However, there was also{#blank#}8{#/blank#} terrible show. Dennis always kept dropping the balls everywhere.

All in all, I think it is fun to watch this kind of show if you don't take them too {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (serious). And they also give students a good way to show {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (they) talents.

A little weed (野草) grows in a field. All around it stand tall and beautiful flowers. The weed didn't like them, because its own flower was tiny and 1 .

Children like to play in the 2 all year round. And spring is their favorite season because they can pick beautiful flowers. They come and go, singing and laughing.

One day, two sisters came to pick flowers for their grandma. They picked many and soon almost all the flowers were 3 " What about that one?" One said, pointing at the weed.

" 4 it!" said the other." That's just a useless(无用的) weed!"

It made the weed feel 5 " Am I really useless?" It asked itself." Why was I even put on this earth?" With all the nearby flowers gone, the weed felt lonely. Even though it didn't like them, it liked having them around.

The wind of 6 blew over the field, and it was soon followed by the snow of winter. The weed stood alone in the wild. Just then, it noticed some birds flying high above the field.

" We' re hungry!" They said." Where can we find 7 ?"

Tomorrow I'll be one of the first students to travel into space. I'm so1 ! The spaceship will2 the earth at 9 a. m. It'll take us to the moon. I can't wait!

The moon is about 380,000 kilometers3 the earth. It'll take us about four days to4 there. There's no gravity(重力) in space, so we can5 around in the spaceship. We'll have to tie(绑) ourselves to our6 so that we won't float (飘浮) away in our sleep! Without gravity, our bodies may get7 , so we'll have to do exercise every day.

When we arrive, I'm going to walk on the moon. I'll have to8 a spacesuit(太空服) to help me breathe(呼吸)9 there's no air on the moon. I'm going to take many photos if my10 still works there. I'm looking forward to it.
