Before the day I stepped into junior high school, I had always thought that as long as I could read, speak, and listen well, English will be a "no problem" 1 for me, and that English grammar was a piece of cake. My father 2 to tell me the importance of grammar but I just wouldn't listen. I didn't understand what's so important about the whole "grammar" thing.

    This misunderstanding didn't last long. Something unexpected happened. It was only 3that day, and I would never forget that day. I was just a young and seventh grader when our English teacher 4 to give us a quiz on English grammar. We had to fill in blanks. After I read the sentence in question number one, different kinds of answers which I thought were possible came into my mind. All of them seemed right and made sense to me, but there was only one 5 answer to it, but I didn't know which one exactly. I was shocked, but I said to myself "never mind", and went on to question number two. Unexpectedly, the same trouble that just happened, appeared right in front of me again, and it just kept happening again and again until I heard our teacher say 6"Time's up." I had to turn in my answer sheet 7 so many unsure answers on it.

    I was really sad about the whole thing. And since then, I've 8 that in English, writing grammar is quite different from spoken grammar. My father had been trying to tell me the important role grammar plays in learning English. Well, it's 9 too late to learn anything, including ENGLISH! So, I started to work on my grammar skills, and thanks to that bad 10, I really learned a lot from it! Now, I'm still on my journey of learning grammar, and I am enjoying it.

The Best Way to Travel

I did a survey about the best way to travel in my class. Here are the results. 

Thirty- five percent of my classmates like {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(travel) by plane. They choose to take the plane {#blank#}2{#/blank#} it's the fastest way. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}, it's also the most expensive. Forty- five percent of them think the train is their first {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (choose). It's{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(safe) and the most comfortable. Besides, it's the second {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(fast). It usually costs less {#blank#}7{#/blank#} taking the plane. Only twenty percent of them choose the coach {#blank#}8{#/blank#} their best way to travel. It's the cheapest but also {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(slow) way. 

Whatever you choose, safety is always {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (important) thing of all. Do remember that!

The Tiaohua Festival is a main festival of the Miao people in Anshun City in Guizhou Province. Each year，the Tiaohua Festival attracts international tourists from all over the world. In 2008，it was included into the second batch of National Intangible Cultural Heritage List(第二批国家级非物质文化遗产名录). It is usually celebrated in the first lunar month every year. 

To decide the exact date of the festival，organizers have to think about many things，like lucky animal days(e. g. the tiger and dragon days are powerful，but the snake and pig days need to be avoided at all costs) and lucky numbers(e. g. "8" means rich but "4" means death). Organizers also need to make sure the date doesn't fall on the festival days of other communities. In this way，people from nearby villages can take part in the festival. 

Singing and dancing are the main activities of the Tiaohua Festival. During the festival，the Miao people wear their traditional clothes and silver accessories(配饰). The most important part of the festival is the chance for young people to meet possible marriage partners—men play a musical instrument and women dance to the music in the flower area. If a man plays well，listeners will cheer for him and he can win a woman's admiration. Then they may get married if everything goes well. Other activities include competitions of climbing a flower­decorated pole and the martial art. 

Printing was invented in China. At that time, people could only make one book at a time by hand for a few {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(月). But today, it takes several minutes to print a {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(单个的)book. In fact, people can get information much more easily with an Internet connection than in printed {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(类型). In a way, we can {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(把……比作) the invention of the computer to the {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(推行) of a non- paper age. If things are going on in this {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(方向), computers may really {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(取代) books one day. Let's wait and see.
