Peter was a robot in Sky City. There were some words1 his name card: "XT-27: The best robot". Yes, he was the best robot here. And he was the only XT-27 robot in the2 as well. Several times each year the Queen gives afternoon tea parties at which guests are served tiny cakes filled with cream from her own cows. Cakes and sandwiches are bought in by footmen, yet you never see the Queen touch a thing. She

simply sits beside a big silver plate, pouring cups of tea for everyone and carefully avoiding the cakes.

At cocktail parties the Queen moves from group to group, chatting informally, and manages to make one glass of diet drink to last a whole evening. Tours abroad are difficult because hosts seem to believe the warmth of their welcome must be shown with wonderful state banquets(宴). But the Queen has perfected the art of appearing to enjoy her meal without actually eating much. During one visit to the Pacific islands of Tonga, a specially-prepared dinner was set up in   a hut made of wood and bamboo leaves. Deep holes were dug in the ground, filled with hot stones and baby pigs, and the pigs were slowly cooked with dry heat over several days. The Queen looked uneasily at her plate when she discovered a   whole roast(烤) pig was her serving.

Then she became uneasy when a turkey, some meat, bananas and an apple were also carried in for each guest. So she depended on her old favourite trick of talking with her host, King Tupou IV, carrying on a warm conversation. At the same time she pushed her food around her plate and only ate a piece of turkey and some fruit.

Reporters traveling with her have noticed that the Queen will sometimes seem so interested in a foreign leader's political(政治的) chat that she simply never has time to finish a meal before it is time to get up and make her speech. She will lift her fork, then put it down again to make another point, leaving almost all of her meal untouched.

During the Warring States Period(战国时期), there lived a man called Zou Ji. One day he put on beautiful clothes and a hat, and looked at himself. He asked his wife, "Between me and Mr. Xu, who is more handsome?"

His wife said, "Of course, you are far more handsome!" Zou Ji could not believe what he heard, as Mr. Xu was widely known in this country for his handsome looks.

He then asked a concubine(妾), "What do you think?" His concubine said, "How can Mr. Xu be compared with you, sir?"

Two days later, a guest came to visit, and Zou Ji asked him the same question. The guest also said, "Mr. Xu is not as handsome as you."

A few days later, Zou Ji met Mr. Xu and compared himself with Mr. Xu secretly. Then he found Mr. Xu was better. But why did all the other people think he was more handsome?

From doubt to being sure, Zou Ji realized his wife preferred him, his concubine feared him and his guest needed his help. So with this thought, Zou Ji bravely went to meet the King of Qi and shared this with him. To his surprise, the King of Qi then added a new requirement: those who could speak to him about his mistakes face to face would receive a top prize; those who could write a letter of offering him some ad vice would receive a middle prize; those who openly criticized(批评) him would receive a small prize as well. Then the whole state followed it

We all know Bill Gates is a very rich person and good at computer science. But do you know he has another 1 —reading? He is so interested in reading that he always tries to find a book to read when he is 2 on weekends. And in his large and beautiful house, you can see a big 3 with so many books.

Spain is famous for its tomato festival, called La Tomatina. It happens in the town of Bunol in the Valencia region in Spain on the last Wednesday of August every year. During the festival there are all kinds of activities, but the most exciting part is the tomato fight. It takes place(发生) at the end of long celebration. You're encouraged to throw tomatoes in the fight. There're many stories about how the festival began. One of the stories goes that during the 1940s, some friends started a tomato fight, while another story is about a local band. Anyway, everyone in Bunol seems to have a different story. 

Before the tomato fight, there are parades(游行), musical bands, street parties and so on. On the day of the fight, shopkeepers cover their windows and doors in order to keep away from the tomato fight. At the same time, thousands of tourists and local people come to the town square together. Then large trucks(卡车) full of tomatoes arrive. From the back of the large trucks, a great town band start to throw tomatoes at others. Then the crowds fight back. throwing the tomatoes at anything and anyone. Soon the streets are in the sea of red tomato juice. 

Everyone is supposed to obey a small number of rules. You must squash(压烂) the tomato before throwing it and you are allowed to throw nothing but tomatoes. 

It is usually over in less than half an hour. Everyone then sets off to the river to clean up. Sounds like fun!
