I am Paul. I am in the classroom. What's under the teacher's desk?

    It's a black schoolbag. Who lost the schoolbag? Let's look at the things in it. This is a pencil box with a pen, a ruler and two pencils in it. This is a Chinese book. I always have my name on my books. But I can't see a name on it. I get(取)the math(数学)book from the schoolbag and have a look. There is no name on it, either(也). How about the music(音乐)book? Let me see. Here is a photo in this book. This is Sally, but I don't know the other two girls in the photo. Is this Sally's schoolbag? I am not sure. I will call Sally and phone her about the lost schoolbag.

Eduardo reached into his backpack，searching for his mobile phone. He was tired of Aunt Letty spending all day on her chickens，goats，horses，and cows. Worse，he was afraid of having to spend the spring vacation on Aunt Letty's farm. 

Although he disagreed，his parents decided that spending time on the farm would be a great experience for him. They grew up on a farm and believed that responsibility（责任），hard work，and respect for the land were valuable lessons. 

"So，have you ever ridden a horse？"Aunt Letty asked，trying to turn his attention away from his phone. "Hmmm，no. "he answered. "Well，we've got a nice horse I think you'll like. "she said，smiling. 

Eduardo was unhappy that he had to work. Vacations were meant for sleeping late，playing video games，and maybe skateboarding. Without lifting his head，he tried to text a friend. 

"With all the hills and valleys，phones are hard to get a WIFI. " 

Eduardo made a face，but Aunt Letty was right. 

▲. The animals on the farm woke them up，and they had breakfast before sunrise. Then they had to feed the animals. The afternoons were filled with cleanup and caring for the animals. At sunset，when the farm was finally quiet，Aunt Letty reached out her arms and inhaled（吸气），"Just take a deep breath of that sweet country air!"Eduardo，tired from his chores，couldn't enjoy his work. 

On the third day，Aunt Letty announced， "It's time to meet Hercules. "She led Eduardo into the stables（马厩）. Aunt Letty was right again. Hercules was amazing! 

Aunt Letty held her hand open for Eduardo to take. Unwillingly（不情愿地），he let her guide his hand towards Hercules and allowed the big animal to touch his hand. Softly，Hercules rubbed its nose and mouth against him. 

"It feels like velvet（天鹅绒）!"Eduardo smiled. An hour later，Eduardo was offering Hercules carrots. 

That night，as they headed towards the house，Eduardo was excited. His arms spreading wide，he inhaled and said，"Take a breath of that sweet country air!"

Last Sunday, I went to the City Museum with my best friend Tom. It had an {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(展览) on that day. We took some paper to take {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (笔记) because taking photos is against the rules there. 

It took us half an hour to ride there. There was a sign "No e{#blank#}3{#/blank#} for animals" in front of the door. We saw a boy in the corner of the first floor and he looked very sad. He broke a glass window by mistake and the manager of the museum {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(惩罚) him. 

"Let's go u{#blank#}5{#/blank#}. We can do some {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(实验) together, " Tom advised. We went to the part for p{#blank#}7{#/blank#} on the second floor. There people could use a special computer to c{#blank#}8{#/blank#} the machines. We had great fun and spent the w{#blank#}9{#/blank#} afternoon there. 

The City Museum is really great, and it attracts people of all {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(年龄) every day. Everyone can find his or her favourite things in it. 

"Are you listening, Simon? " Simon's teacher asked. It was a pretty usual question. Simon shook his head, smiling. He hardly listened or tried hard in class. Talking was so much fun. He wanted to be heard rather than listen.

"Listen, and you' ll learn something." Mrs. Jacobs tried every day, but Simon never paid attention.

 That evening, his throat really hurt. The next morning, when he opened his mouth to say"Good morning", nothing came out but a croak(低沉而沙哑的声音).

 Simon's mother looked at him. "Honey, you' ve lost your voice "

"Can I stay home?" He tried to ask, but words didn't come out. Instead, his mother checked him for a fever and decided it was good for him to go to school, even if he couldn't talk.

 When he got to school, Mrs. Jacobs said"Hello" to him, and he just nodded. When his friends asked him what TV shows he watched last night, he just shrugged(耸肩). By the time the bell rang for class, almost everyone was looking at him as if he'd grown a third eye.

 Penny raised her hand. "Mrs Jacobs, why isn't Simon talking?"

"He never stops talking," Richard said worriedly. Everyone started talking at once. They were excited, worried, and surprised.

 Simon sat in class, bored. He watched them talk to each other as if the teacher wasn't there, but he couldn't even do that. In math class he could hold up fingers if the answer was less than 10, but that wasn't fun. He decided to try to pay attention.

 He could do his homework that night. It gave him TV and game time with his work all done.

 The next day, even though his voice was coming back, he stayed quiet again. The third day, he could talk fine, but he listened and raised his hand to speak.

 What a difference that one day made!
