"The best mianshi lies in China and the best Chinese mianshi lies in Shanxi." Can you imagine that in North China's Shanxi Province, there are over 280 kinds of mianshi, or cooked wheaten (小麦的) food?

Shanxi people's love for mianshi is closely connected to the local natural conditions. The dry weather on mountains and plateaus (高原) makes it a good place for growing wheat. Therefore, as time passing by, Shanxi people not only developed an eating habit for mianshi, but also invented different ways of cooking wheaten food.

Among the many Shanxi manshi, the sliced (刀削的) noodle is the most famous one. It is sliced with a special knife. When making it, the cook needs to hold hand. The length and thickness of each sliced noodle are required to be the same. Experienced cooks can even turn the way of slicing noodle into an excellent show. They can slice 200 noodles in one minute, and make sure each noodle falls exactly into the soup pot 1.5 meters away.

In Chinese food culture, people like to give special meanings to the food. For example, they would have a bowl of Changshoumian on their birthday, carrying good wishes for health and long life. In many places, the tradition is to serve jiaozi to a person leaving home, and noodles to a person returning home, as both food have their own important meaning.

The Spring Festival has become a key time for Chinese living or working in the US. They join in a large evening party to welcome the traditional New Year. It is a good chance for people to build a circle of friends and feel that they are not alone because they share the same culture and values. 

Australia

The Chinese New Year will be welcomed with three weeks of celebrations across Australia. Many people come to Sydney's Chinatown or Lite Bourke Street in Melbourne. They enjoy fireworks (烟花), lion dances and dragon boat races. The celebrations are also a bridge towards better understanding between Chinese and non-Chinese. 

Singapore

The family dinner on New Year's Eve is an important tradition for Chinese whether they were born in Singapore or moved there from China. They place traditional food on a table as an act of remembering their past. Then the whole family enjoy the dinner together. They usually hold it at home because having it in a restaurant takes away the meaning of the tradition. 

Nowadays, a new method is used to decide who are the top students in school. The best students are those who not only get high marks, but also follow the rules and the behavior standards (行为标准) for middle school students. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

My uncle has a big farm. There are many animals on the farm. They are cows, chickens, ducks, sheep, pigs and three dogs. The farm is far from the city. It's very nice and quiet. I love the beautiful countryside. I like to live there. But I have to go to school in the city. So on the weekend I often go there to help my uncle. I often help him feed cows, pigs and chickens. All the animals on the farm are friendly to me. The dogs like to run around me and I like to play with them. The ducks like to swim in the river. The pigs like to sleep. When they are hungry, they can eat a lot. When I grow up, I am going to have my own farm. I will live in the beautiful countryside with animals.

①These days, a growing number of robots are invented. They can not only do difficult tasks in factories but also provide support at home or school.

③Some companion robots are able to help your grandparents live more happily. Among them, the robot named The Five should be one of the most excellent companion robots. It was known to the public for the first time on September 24th, 2024. Different from other robots, The Five has got four legs with wheeled feet. Although its face looks small and strange, its powerful fingers enable it to lift an adult weighing 65 kg. It can help the elderly with many tasks including getting up, walking and carrying heavy things. Although it hasn't been widely used yet, it has already been tested successfully in a nursing home. There is no doubt that The Five can bring much convenience to our life. 

④However, there is still something robots can't do. For example, they don't have human feelings or creativity. Unable to think independently, they can only follow programmed instructions. Also, they are usually expensive to produce. 

⑤As modern technology improves, robots will become smarter in the near future, and people will enjoy an easier and more comfortable life.
