It is Sunday morning. Sam wants to visit his friend. On his way to his friend's home. He is very tired. So he stops his car and wants to take a nap(打盹).

    A man walks to Sam´s car and knocks(敲)on the window. "Excuse me. sir. "He asks." What time is it now?"

    Sam doesn't have a watch. He looks at the clock of his car and says. ”8:15”.  The man says," Thanks."

    After a short time, another man knocks on his window. "Sorry, sir. But do you have the time?""8:25". Sam say says and he is a little angry(生气的).  The man thanks him, too.

    "I really want to take a nap." Sam thinks. Then he takes out a pen and writes" I don't know the time." on the paper. And he posts(张贴)it on the window.  But soon another man sees it and knocks on the window. "Sir. sir? It's 8:45 now. "

Billy's favorite color isorange. But he can't see what orange looks like.

A month after he was born, his mother noticedthat his eyes weren't quite as1asa normal baby's. "Billy would never be able to see, he is2."the doctor said. Even so, with the hope to help Billy learn all about the worldaround him, his mother kept talking to him and describing3shesaw.

Billy does not only depend on his mother's descriptionsto learn about the world around him. He sees4hisears and his hands, too. He has perfect hearing. When people make phone calls,he can5the numbers they dial (拨).

"He is very confident and his disabilitydoesn't stop him from being an important part of the class," his teachersaid, "The students love him, and he is just one of them."

Billy loves computer science. He began teaching6computerprogramming when he was just seven years old. As a young boy, he7goingto study in Stanford University. And for years of efforts (努力), he got the best grades in his classes, he finally8hisdream. Many people wanted to find out the9ofhis success. Billy explained, "Move forward! Don't let any difficultiesget in the way of your dreams."

You cannot choose what you are given10youcan choose how you make use of it.

The elephant was lying and fast asleep on its side. A few dogs started barking at it. The elephant woke up in a terrible anger: it ran after the dogs into the village where they ran for safety. That didn't stop the elephant. It destroyed a few houses and hurt several people. The villagers were scared and angry. Then someone suggested calling Parbati, the elephant princess.

Parbati Barua's father was a hunter of tigers and an elephant tamer(驯兽师). He taught Parbati to ride an elephant before she could even walk. He also taught her the dangerous art of the elephant round-up —— how to catch wild elephants.

Parbati hasn't always lived in the jungle (丛林). After a happy childhood hunting with her father, she was sent to a boarding school in the city. But Parbati never got used to being there and many years later she went back to her old life. "Life in the city is too boring. Catching elephants is an adventure (冒险) and the excitement can last for days after the chase," she says.

But Parbati doesn't catch elephants just for fun. "My work," she says,"is to rescue men from the elephants, and to keep the elephants safe from men." And this is exactly what Parbati has been doing for many years. Nowadays, the Indian elephant becomes angry: for many years, illegal(非法的) hunters have attacked it and its home in the jungle has been reduced to small pieces of land. It is now fighting back. Whenever wild elephants enter a tea garden or a village, people call Parbati to guide the animals back to the forest.

The teacher stands before his class and is going to hand out the final exam papers. "I know how 1 you have all worked for this test," he says. "and because I know you can do it well, I am going to give a B to anyone who doesn't 2 to take the test."

Many students jump up to 3 the teacher and leave the classroom. The teacher 4 the remaining (剩下的) students and says, "Does anyone else want to get a B? This is your 5 chance." Two more students decide (决定) to 6 .

Seven students remain. The teacher then hands out the 7 . There are only 3 sentences on the paper: Congratulations! (祝贺) You just 8 an A in this class. Keep believing in 9 .

I 10 had a teacher like that, but I think it is a test that any teacher could and should give. Students who don't believe in what they have 11 are just B students.

The same is true in real life. The A students are those who believe in what they are doing because they have 12 both success and failure (失败). They have learned life lessons and have become 13 people. You are a big child now, and you 14 that you have some weaknesses(缺点). However, there is 15 you can't do or learn.

I was in a shopping mall for two hours, so I decided to go and get a cup of coffee. As I was making my way   to the coffee shop, I noticed an old gentleman poorly dressed sitting near the shop. I knew from the first sight that he needed help. He had a little lunch in front of him and was enjoying it. It was clear that he had a problem with his right eye. I then joined the line and waited to be served.

Then it happened, one of the most beautiful gestures I had ever seen in my life. There was a young man in front of me in the line who was also waiting to be served. The next thing I knew was that the young man handed the waitress 20 dollars and requested a glass of juice as a favor(善行). The waitress looked at the young man a little perplexed, not fully understanding the request. That was when the young man asked her to give the juice to the old gentleman eating his lunch outside, as well as the change from the 20 dollars. The young man also told her that he would be watching every second so that she would be completely safe. Then there was a wonderful exchange between the waitress and the old man. I only wished I could take a photo of the smiles on both of their faces.

 As I was considering this event later, I wondered why the young man didn' t perform this act of kindness himself. Maybe he was hoping that this act of kindness might inspire(激励) others to do something for this old man as well.

Peng Jingxuan, a Chinese student, has studied music in France for years. When she 1 playing the guzheng on the streets of France in 2018, she did not think that the traditional instrument(传统乐器) would2 her life. 

Peng began to study the guzheng when she was 7 years old. 

In 2017, she went to France to study music. She was3 to find that very few people in France knew about the guzheng. 

"I wanted to make4 people know this instrument, " Peng said. 

She began to do5 performances(表演). Peng Jingxuan played the guzheng near the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. As a(n)6 music performer, she shared traditional music with French people. The more Peng played on the streets, the greater pride (自豪) she felt in7 Chinese music and culture. 

To make this traditional Chinese instrument better known to people in France, Peng 8 chose traditional guzheng pieces and some pop songs9 strong Chinese influences (影响). 

"To get more people to know about it, understand it, and love it. . . is the biggest10 of Chinese artists playing the traditional musical instrument, " she said. And she is willing to work hard on it.
